Production Update Sept 2021 (Patreon)
Content
Firstly, I want to thank you all for your support. I have had a crazy busy couple of months - even though I’ve managed to release all the films I needed to, I have not had the chance to update you on on future plans etc. So we are due definitely due a catch up.
For those of you who are new to Project Horror, I try to keep patrons up to date with what’s going on with the project as much as possible whenever I can. And every couple of months, I post a detailed production update about what Project Horror will move forward. I will also run through any issues that I’m facing and what solutions I propose.
MORE PEOPLE IN FILMS
I have been shooting a lot of content that features 2, 3, 4 people - it’s been really cool to work with that many people and craft stories and creative kills around that. Although Covid is still an issue everywhere, here in the UK many restrictions have been lifted, which means I can have more people on set. Previously, due to the restrictions, I’ve been shooting a lot of single person films. It’s not ideal, but it has enabled me to put together a crew of actors who can all carry a film as individuals. Having multiple actors on set, also opens the possibility of returning characters, which in turn opens up the possibility of telling a story over a few episodes, like a proper series. I’ve a short series already shot and ready to edit. I’ve another two all planned out and ready to shoot. I’m hoping this will lead to deeper richer stories that will add a lot more meaning and impact to the death scenes.
NEW FACES
Because I’ve been filming a lot of 2,3 and 4 people, it’s really bought into focus that fact that I need to expand my current team of regular performers. I'm in the process of doing about 15 auditions, which I’m really excited about. (You can see some new faces in the images above.) I plan to share the content pretty quickly with patrons and maybe run a poll on which new faces you want to see more of. So watch this space, as they say.
TIER REVIEW
It goes without saying but having more actors on set and more deaths has dramatically increased the cost of production. Also the films will take much longer to edit because of increased dialogue, and more deaths = more fx work. In any case, I’ll be revising the tiers over the next month or two to make sure that I’m delivering the right value to the right tiers. I’m also planning on adding a new top tier with some exclusive content and greater say in what I’m filming and releasing etc.
HOW I SHOOT AND EDIT
Due to Covid and the UK’s string of lockdowns, I got into the habit of shooting tons of content whenever I could. I still have a huge pile of content that’s unedited. I could pretty much not get my camera out for six months and I could still release a new film every week!!! When I select the films to edit and release every month, I base that mainly on balancing the content. The method of death is first thing I look at, and I base that on the polls I do every month - so it really is important that as many of you as possible vote. The next thing I look at is balancing the actors and making sure there’s a good selection of locations/sets across the month.
YOUR IDEAS
I love hearing your ideas and incorporating them into what I film. Because I shoot content so far in advance, it can take a while for ideas to filter through into a released film - so please be patient, or order a custom film :D
As always, if you have any questions, pop them in the comments below and I will answer them as soon as I can.
Thanks again for your support and for making the films possible.
