I have been a very, very busy beast for the past few months. This summer brought new experiences and some fun opportunities, and luckily this has lead to development with Noodle too...

Even since I was a young (confused) art student in college, I have coveted the ARS Electronica festival in Linz. It's a huge celebration of the things I love most in this world: science, art, and technology (and philosophy too!). I have seen so many amazing works of art on display at ARS via youtube videos, that I've come to think of those who exhibit their art at this show as the ones who've made it... or rather, the ones who have something interesting to say =P

Now that I've explained the gravity this festival has to me, I can tell you that this past month I not only got to attend, I was asked to participate @ ARS Electronica with my growing spawn, Noodle! Noodle got to TASTE Linz! GAH!

As circumstance has it, I only had about a week and a half to prepare for this journey. In the middle of August, I was just returning from *another* big project...thing... so I was in a state of non-stop preparation up until the very hour I left for the airport. >.<

Particularly, I made an additional 3 complete tasting feet for Noodle, so that he would have a complete set. With help (thank you Tony and Mark!), I was able to whip them up and push my spawn through a period of turbo puberty... only to dismantle him entirely and press fit the parts in my luggage.

Without much testing, I crossed my fingers and dragged my bag of Noodle bits to the airport and found myself in a wonderful German-speaking country 20 or so hours later. There in my hotel room at 22:00 hours, I reassembled my baby and passed out. There was no time for the reality of it all to catch up with me; however it did in the morning...

I swaggered with my robot under my arm to Post City, where I left him on a table to be poked at for hours on end by a curious international crowd. I attended the FIS Summit during the day, which kept me from manning my space for the duration.

The exhibition was in the entirety of an abandoned Post Office, which I wasn't expecting. This apocalyptic venue was superbly curated and filled to the brim with thought provoking creations. I'd highly suggest going if you have the means! =F

If you're interested in my adventure... I made short videos documenting the whole process... from my participation, to the show in and of itself.

Starting with my RUSH to prepare Noodle in the weeks before:

Tasting Feet Assembly

Testing and Calibration

Packing for Linz

...and ending with some clips of the show and some of the cool things I saw there:

Setting up @ Post City on Thursday

A Tour of Post City's Underground

I promise not to be so much of a stranger now that the dust has settled. I can tell you that I'm currently working on Noodle's salivary system... So expect to see some cool new developments involving gel hand sanitizer and lubricant =]

Until then, I hope your Fall gets off to a good start!
