She mentioned someplace recently (I get confused on where I've heard things) that it was supposed to begin Nov 1 but the restorer still has a family member who is very ill. She didn't want to put any pressure on him but offered to let him "off the hook" and get someone else, but he assured her really wants to do the job. I'm excited to see that project move forward too!

Great video Stephanie as always once again you spoil us all…. Now you and Phillip can both be more relaxed and not have to worry about what is shown on the videos so much! I’m going to list a few things/thoughts to maybe think about! 1) AGA, I’ve owned them before and understand your love for them, but I do feel placing one in the main kitchen will be a mistake. Anyone using one has to have Knowledge of what to do and how different it is to cook on one, with volunteers, cooking rotas and catering for B&B guests it will be a nightmare. 2) the trouble with the water pipes and heating has all started just after you had the water valve/motor changed outside, given a lot more pressure. Nothing can be done now but a possible cause? 3) when you start putting the stone cap-pings on the moat wall, could you maybe have the smaller courtyard gates widened? Moving the pillar on the vegetable garden side 2ft and then a new central piece of railings added to one of the gates? It’s a problem that’s not going to go away and needs to be seen too…. 4) you’ve blocked out the start of the B&B season with the thought of holding the Patreon open day and also I believe something for the other chateau diy owners! Could you not combine the two and free up the dates for more B&B guests? They would be there to help you as well as giving everyone the chance to meet other owners and help them to get wider audience’s ? I know you want to have as many rooms open for viewing and I’m sure they could place personally belongings somewhere safe if need be! If it was all put together, it could also be of interest to the chateau diy show to film as well? 5) and final one lol….. A lalande calendar, it’s to late for this year to do but something that can be planned for next year. I know another YouTuber that sells them each year and people pre order and pay so he knows how many to order and is relatively easy to arrange….

They're so much bigger than the last time we saw them but still babies and they're probably not ready to really fend for themselves like grown peacocks. I really like the idea of the pool table in the attic... pool tables need big spaces to sit within and to be a little away from the main dining and sitting areas... a place to retire and play. Stephanie so happy for you and Phillip. Your relationship deserves to flourish and not be hidden away. I love that idea as well. My only question is do guests have free range at the Chateau. If not and it’s in the attic is it only for staff and volunteer use? I know I saw someone hanging a sign regarding private quarters in a recent video. I’m also wondering if anyone can point me to any videos that may have been done that outline the history of the chateau. My specific question is which parts were the original chateau? What was the entrance to the original building. Which building was next and so on. I’m also interested in the floor plans. Where can those be found. I’m having trouble visualizing the layout on the inside of the buildings.

I know first hand the weight that is lifted when you are able to act freely with your partner, so you have my absolute heart full praise and admiration Stephanie. hey stephanie and lalanders, i am a loyal patron and since your love life has now been discussed openly and honestly, i hope we can move on and i can ask a few critical questions and make a few suggestions openly and honestly without being accused of being a troll, because i am not, i am fascinated by the chateau, the people and of course by stephanie and i hope this was just the beginning of your success. does it ever frustrate you that so many projects have been started and it takes so long to see significant progress or the finished product? the downstairs loo for example, this has been going on for a year now? i imagine it would make life at lalande so much easier if there was a second working toilet on the ground floor? what is the hold up right now, the coving? have you thought about finishing it without the coving and then add that later? i'm also wondering what's going on with the financial update? has the accountant finished? have you decided not to make it public? (because i would completely understand that and be ok with it, i just would like to know the status quo). last january or february you proclaimed a month of tidying up the chateau and clearing out the attic and then you cleared out the narnia part of the attic and your clothes and the part of the attic with all the old furniture remained untouched. do you plan to clear out this part as well? i would love to see what treasures are hidden up there. did you clear out the rest of the chateau? i feel we never got an update on this front. some time ago you had plans to remodel the petit salon, i imagine this has gone down on the list of priorities? i would love to see it, i think it would be exciting. usually now, in the off season, would be the time to get things done. are you worried that with nati being exhausted from the summer season, the advent calendar, christmas and so many trips planned (venice, south africa, london...) there will again not be enough time to finish some of the many projects? maybe you could create a task force "downstairs loo", focus your energy on one project for a certain amount of time, get all lalanders involved and get it done? i'm not suggesting this only because i want to see the final product but also because i think it's incredibly important for everyone's morale to see success and a finished project from time to time. and yes, i see that a lot of important work has been done over the last year (insulation of the attic, transformation of the main courtyard and so much more) and it keeps going on and i also understand that you're constantly being thrown curveballs with the leaks and the lack of material but sometimes, for me personally, it is frustrating to see for example ian working on one project and then he has to stop and work on a secret project for british tv and it feels like there are more and more loose ends? i'm also wondering what your thoughts on "chateau diy" are? i understand it's good advertisment for the chateau and that you like the filming crew but what are your actual benefits? do you get a lot of new viewers on your youtube chanel via the tv show? have you asked them if you could at least talk about your vlog on tv? unfortunately, like with all reality tv shows, there is a lot of repeating the same footage over and over again, and "what happened last time" and "what you will see after the break". the filming keeps you busy for days and disrupts everything going on at the chateau and yet we get to see just a few minutes of you and whatever project you're doing for them. i understand that this is how filming a tv show works but do you still think it's worth it? i understand that you are working non stop, too much in my humble opinion and i think you're spreading yourself too thin. maybe it's not necessary to go to new york to make an exciting vlog (although i understand that this was an exciting opportunity you couldn't pass up) or go on this advent calendar-tour de force, i'd rather see you working on the many projects going on, see you cook together, have fun, hang out, maybe continue with the clearing? work with the assets you got, maybe ask marie de belgique to make a new tour of the chateau, as it is, it would be fun to see the chateau through her eyes. put the camera in kat's hands and see what happens, i'm sure it would be fun! ask all lalanders about their favourite place in the chateau and let them introduce it to us, AND LET PHILIP EDIT!! try to think of ways of showing us entertaining footage without it adding to your personal workload, i'm thinking about the patreon videos especially. i am not complaing about the entertainment value of your youtube vlogs, they always have been great but i must admit, over the last few weeks, looking at the patreon videos, once or twice i got the feeling that the spirit behind some of the videos was "oh, tomorrow is wednesday, i quickly have to put something togehther for the patreons or let's just do a Q&A!" and seeing what an important income patreon has become for the chateau restauration, i wonder if that is a good business decision? i miss the detailed start of the month updates you used to do in the beginning and i feel the "extra footage"-videos (which i enjoy a lot) were a bit longer and made with a bit more love. i tried to pick my words very carefully and i hope i didn't offend anyone and i apologize for all the unsolicited advice but then again, since i feel close to you and you feel close to us, it would have felt wrong not to say something. these are just my thoughts and my opinion and no matter what happens, i will remain a dedicated chateau diaries-fan forever. stephanie has encouraged us repeatedly to offer our opinion and that's what i tried to do, respectfully and with her best interests at heart. as someone who has struggled all his life to finish things, it seems i find comfort and motivation in going on youtube and seeing people achieve what i long for. one quote that has always helped me massively when i didn't know where to start: "how do you eat an elephant? Happy that the final outcome of your "outing" has been so positive with a huge weight lifted. You both seemed very relaxed and freed in yesterday's Cadeaux. Sans the romance saga, my week has been a bit like yours, although on a miniscule scale compared to your "chatastrophes": no heat or hot water, turns out my minerally water has damaged both furnace and water heater. In the end the 4 year old furnace is probably salvageable, need a new water heater and new water treatment system. And severe storm caused water to leak through my chimney doing ceiling damage, so top of chimney is coming down for a complete rebuild. Yikes! Guess my little cottage had a " cotastrophy".

Oh Stephanie! Everyday is a challenge at Laland! Thankfully you have Dan & Amoury and Nati and Gerry there to always support you!! and Phillip! Everything has gone so well since I became a patron and watched the chateau evolve. billiard table: i like the idea of adding pockets so that it becomes usable and you could also ask amoury to make a removable table top for it out of antique wood or out of the oak wood you have and then you could use it as a dining table in the dining room or in the entrance hall or in the stables where marie had her first flower studio. by adding a table top it becomes usable as a work surface as a dining table etc and whenever you feel like playing pool, you just remove the top....

Love seeing you all. It took me most of the day to finish the video, as I own a daycare and have 6 kids under the age of 6 keeping my attention during the day. Movember is known as "No Shave November" here in the states, so men not shaving for the entire month is how we do here. Great cause, bravo boys for doing your part to support mens health. So glad you feel better about having told everyone about you and Philip! I know that must have been weighing on you and so stressful. It was a very vulnerable side you've had showing and not on your own terms with the slip up in Chateau DIY. But sometimes vulnerability leads us to a better place, which this seems to have for you and I'm so happy for that. I know some other YouTubers I watch only read their video comments for the first 24 hours or so because those are the comments of their core crowd and tend to be more positive. That might help you as well to only focus on the comments of those who care about you and those at the Chateau. Continue to take care of yourself, give yourself rest and relaxation when you need it and best wishes for a more relaxed week for you without any plumbing issues!

What if you picked one spot for the garden, the château, the chapel, mark the spot with some type of paint or tape, then take a photo each day for one year. You can then show the growth like a time-lapse. Just one photo a day :)

The big area where the Jaguar is could be glassed in as Stephanie and the architect were suggesting but maybe it could be used as a Solarium/Winter Garden. I think the glass wall would face south. Many great houses (for example The Biltmore) had just such rooms where they showcased rare plants... Philip loves cachepots so more room for potted plants and a place to go on rainy summer days or, the more obvious grey days of winter. Just a thought...

Found the Comtesse de Nadaillac rose! Dear Stephanie- I put out a request to historic rose gardens and rose societies for the Nadaillac rose and this morning it turned up! A rose grower named Merlin in Denmark is offering cuttings. Since Denmark is part of the EU I think the cuttings can be imported into France (although I'm not sure of this.) If you are still interested I can send Merlin a private message through the rose site and see what is involved. Just let me know.
