Stephanie, you only have one problem that I can see with the downstairs bathroom, but it’s a large problem. People are not going to want to come out. They’ll be filming their own vlogs in there, throwing parties, knitting, wolfing down snacks whilst shopping on eBay. Don’t look at me, I don’t have a solution. 👋Philip! Uh oh, Barbados architecture is actually stunning. From Caribbean Georgian style to the iconic environmentally friendly chattel houses built and designed by enslaved people in a similar style to houses in west Africa , you’ll be running all over to look at it. Not to mention the island’s rich culture and history!

Oh I absolutely LOVE Barbados (we sailed there during our circumnavigation) and I am not surprised you are finding much to videotape. It is steeped in history! You must make sure to do the Mount Gay Rum Distillery tour. Even if you are not a rum fan it is incredible and when we did the sampling I could not believe the quality of the rum. I, who love a great single malt Scotch, was very happy with a glass of their best quality rum neat.

If you do it around 8:30-9:30pm EDST then the people on the West Coast and everywhere in between will be able to watch live and mostly after work! I am CDST in Texas so that would be 7:30pm-8:30pm for us. 6:30pm-7:30pm for those in Mountain Time and 5:30-6:30pm for the folks on the West Coast! So excited!!!

you’re there in hurricane season and it’s been a busy one so far. Please pay strict attention to the weather and get out early if necessary. I’ve been through 7 in Central Florida and 1 in Miami and even well inland they can be dangerous but much much worse on an island. Best of luck and travels. Be extra careful in the USA because there are too many unvaccinated people and the delta variant is rampant.

Oh wow I can’t wait for the Grand Salon to be complete! And please please please do a new entrance to the cellar!! Secret passageways are what make it magical. However I really love the current design of the grand salon. Make sure to take plenty of before and after photos and footage to cherish!

I must admit I am usually not a fan of wallpaper, having removed it in the past I have never wanted to hand it again. But if I had that wallpaper it would be a different story. Of all the places in the world, you two go to my favourite island! How marvellous! You've not picked the place for not getting tempted to vlog though, the parish churches! The history! The museum! The plantations! And the island offer so different views and activities, for such a little island it is amazing how different the north, west, and east is. I fell in love with Barbados 20 years ago and keep returning. You should visit Harrisons caves, worth it. Get on a catamaran by yourself one day (with a captain of course) and say hello to the turtles from me. I go there to dive and snorkel first and foremost, I love having a lazy dive on the wrecks in Bridgetown bay, or dive for bottles a bit further out. Found my best bottle in 2013, it is from the 1700, and it is now here in my glass cupboard, strangely we were allowed to take them with us. Well, you were not giving much away on location, but I doubt you're at the Crane in spite of rocks behind you, not that I am any good with sun, but I guess you're on the west coast. Have you been to see the green monkeys yet at the wildlife reserve? Phillip, you will love that! Anyway, so good to see you're in Bimshire, it will restore any stress. I wish I was where you are now, but I am already planning my next trip there, so I will try to not be envious. Don't you love the bearded fig trees? Once they covered the island apparently...well I bet you can't resist getting into history Stephanie, can I just say St. Johns Parish church and the name Ferdinando Paleologus? What a wonderful location for a holiday! I’m sure it’ll be just the place for some rest and relaxation before hitting New York. Enjoy! The wallpaper looks stunning. After the sneak peek some months ago I couldn’t wait to see it in place. I loved hearing about the new bathroom upstairs mainly because Ian referred to the ‘basin’ and not the sink! I’m really not being picky or critical I promise but I was bought up to refer to the bathroom basin and the kitchen sink! I’m a bit OCD I’m afraid! The paneling is going to look wonderful and I agree with a previous comment, why not have the two drinks cupboards in the Grande Salon. There can never be too many drinks and glasses at Lalande. Your cousin will do a wonderful job! My daughter is visiting the US at the moment but because it wasn’t possible to travel from Spain where we live directly into the US she had to go to Puerto Vallarta in Mexico first for two weeks.....such a chore but it had to be done! Stephanie and Philip, enjoy your time away, you deserve it after all the time you spend giving us such a wonderful time living our ‘virtual’ lives at Lalande. A visit is on my bucket list! One day! Enjoy the sun and the sea! The beach is definitely my happy place. The salt air and warm breezes make me feel so relaxed. Do keep a weather eye out though as it is hurricane season and there have been quite a few already this year. When you get to NYC do be careful and wear masks when you’re out and about. Sadly Covid is not under control here in the U.S. and you must stay as safe as possible. Love to you and Philip.

Hi Stephanie and Philip, you picked the perfect place for a fabulous holiday - we stayed in a petty little Airbnb cottage on the beach a couple of years ago, it was heavenly! If you have time, please, please visit Hunte's Garden, the owner Anthony Hunte is such a character and his garden is incredible, hidden nooks amongst tropical planting, tiny hummingbirds hovering everywhere. Lastly, one of the best evenings ever was spent at The Cliff Restaurant, what an amazing atmosphere...and the food! Treat yourselves, you so deserve it!😘

I’m really sorry, because I’m used to the music workshops it was obvious to me what was going on so I didn’t think to explain - there’s a masterclass being given in the background, and the teacher (the lovely Philippe Byros) is explaining the character’s motivation to the singer (he’s clearly trying to seduce someone)

So Barbados over Egypt in August was a great choice! Whilst attending University in London years ago my American friend and her roommate noticed how cheap flights to Cairo were that August. They promptly booked and Melissa said that she had never experienced such heat in her life (and we were both from the coastal Deep South). In fact, while standing on the Giza Plateau viewing the pyramids she noted to her roommate that she smelled rubber burning and her roommate replied that in fact she did too. They both looked down and the soles of their sneakers were melting! Hahaha! Yeah, Barbados... And a soon to be welcome to New York! ❤️❤️❤️

I have the exact same chandelier you have in my bathroom and it sparkles on the wall. It's going to look so good sparkling on that wallpaper. By the way I gutted my bathroom the same time you started on yours and I added a TV on the wall for the sole purpose of uninterrupted Chateau Diary watching while in the tub! lol True story!

Barbados is such an exotic getaway! The wallpaper is even more gorgeous than I envisioned, and it does create the sense of “walking into an impressionist painting,” as you described. Truly enjoyed the walk-through with your cousin discussing the paneling for the Grand Salon. Love the ideas for secret passageways, hidden doors, and the secret drinks cabinet accessible from both the Winter Salon and Grand Salon. As for times for the Q & A, any time after 2 pm EDT would be my preference.

Wow Stephanie you must be torn between all of the things moving forward at the chateau and the excitement of the auction. So many great things happening at once! I'm glad you're having a vacation and it was brilliant to get the jet lag out of the way before you hit New York. If you do a live, I agree that an evening time would be best. As I live in the central time zone (Texas), I like the idea of later in the evening in the eastern time zone. I always miss live and premier videos because I'm stuck working and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Regardless, have a lovely relaxing vacation.

That wall paper is divine…. As for the timing question??? EDT and GMT is a 4 hr difference so I would say 6pm EDT making it 10pm GMT I guess it depends where your largest Viewing numbers are based and trying to please as many as possible…. There will always be this problem!!
