Anywhere in Canada would be good as long as your double vaxxed there should no issues and even the Atlantic provinces are back to doing direct flights to nyc again and they are typically only a 4 hour flight !

SO exciting!!! Broadway opens September 2nd, so you might be in luck! I'm seeing my first musical since the pandemic on sept. 11th (Waitress). Most shows aren't opening until later in the month-- Hadestown and Waitress are 2 that I know of that are re-opening sept. 2nd.

Happy birthday Stephanie! Come to Ontario, Canada. If you stay in Niagara Falls, you can rent a car and drive to New York in 6 and a half hours. You can see the falls, the wine region, some of the Great Lakes, and Pearson International Airport in Toronto is 1 and a half hours away.

I’ve always known that sooner or later “the world at large” was going to discover you. I’m sure this experience will be it. I Think Saint Pierre et Miquelon qualifies as France. However, l’estrie or the eastern townships outside Montreal is delightful! Hovey Manor would be a nice place to stay. A flight from Montreal to New York is about an hour and a half, I believe. Bon voyage!

Pre-pandemic I was lucky enough to take trips from the UK to both Bermuda and to Costa Rica. I’d recommend both. Come to Canada? Quebec city is lovely... as is the West coast. It's so beautiful (Rocky mountains). Lac St. Louise. Halifax (East coast). Find a cottage near the great lakes (Ontario). You can fly from here into the US. And it's really relaxing... vloggable...but not TOO vlogable

I'm in the Hudson Valley now, but lived in NYC for many years. For the most divine interiors in Manhattan, the Metropolitan Museum has French18th century period rooms in the Wrightsman Galleries. You'd be in heaven there, and so would Philip, as they have beautiful furniture, including a few of Marie Antoinette's things, and loads of porcelains - mostly Sevres, but other lovely items. Also, the American Wing has period interiors, with some European touches, like Zuber scenic wallpaper. There are also English period rooms worth seeing. Four days is almost no time at all in Manhattan, so I hope you get to the Met during your stay. If you decide to stay any longer, I'd be more than happy to show you around, but I know a lot is waiting for you at Lalande. Happy birthday, dear girl. You deserve all good things!

It's quite easy to watch Christies auctions online, Susannah. Christies has a Youtube and Facebook channel where they are streamed live and in archives to watch later. They also have a tab on their Facebook channel for all their past Tastemakers extra videos. I can't wait to see Stephanie there!!!!

Canada makes the most sense due to the closeness to NYC. USA will likely have opened the border to Canada by November. But as you said, so many changes have happened through COVID. Toronto or Montreal will give you lots of flight options to NY as well as you will want to get there ASAP. Happy Birthday Stephanie! Love your Cortona dress. I watch Josh and Siena who are from the Netherlands. They quarantined in ARUBA for two weeks before they could go to America for their wedding (Josh is American). Well, a spa or a beach destination might do. You don't like the sun very much and can sit in the shade with a good book. A spa because you DESERVE IT and because it is a one stop shop - no need to leave the spa/resort to learn neat things about the area. Perhaps a rural/mountain resort in Canada or an AirBnB with great food delivery? Christie's has made a very sound choice and I cannot imagine you going without Phillip - I know you each have unique tastes but your two styles compliment each other wonderfully. I'm a bit bothered that you have to leave so long before the NYC part of the trip, because you will be away from your style books and you might want them. Perhaps do a quick survey of certain of your books and take some photos of rooms pictured within? Giving credit to the style books/stylists in those books would be a nice provenance for your inspiration (though I know so much of it comes from your very original mind.) And don't hesitate to credit inspiration from the wonderful properties you have taken us, too, e.g. the aubergine wall color from the house museum for French military officers, or even personal chateaus you have visited. Having worked for NYC auction houses, you are going to have a lot of fun at Christie's. I was there for some important auctions, like an imperial Faberge egg, par example. And yes, the Broadway shows are open. Tickets are very pricey, but there is a Half-Price ticket stand in Times Square that you can buy tickets for the same night for much less. If you need someone to help you navigate the city, I'm available. It would be a pity for you to be so close, and not be able to meet you and Philip. Let me know.

Please avoid the islands south of the US. I live in Florida and this time of year is known here as hurricane Season. We have already had several come up to us through the Caribbean. I’d say go north to Canada. There is a gorgeous Inn/Manor House outside of Toronto called Langdon Hall Country House and Spa. It was recently renovated by my favorite Canadian decorator Sara Richardson.

Come to Winnipeg Canada! I promise it is the most boring and peaceful city. There are very few scenic views on the Canadian prairies! 😊 But there is a gorgeous hotel in the city centre, the Fort Gary Hotel, with age and beauty. I use to work there and my kids call it the chateau hotel.

Dear Stephanie, Saint Pierre et Miquelon is "outremer" and USA should accept this provenance, the virus is almost not active there (30 cases since 2020, only 2 cases this summer) and the Canada is more flexible with passengers from Saint Pierre et Miquelon, I 'm not sure that you could fly directly from France to Montreal before the 7th of september. Congratulations and Happy Birthday!!!! I guess you were correct when you said you thought the vlog might be worth all the hard work! Please consider the East Coast of Canada particularly Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. Exceptionally low COVID numbers and beautifully restful scenery by the ocean. You could easily rent a cottage. Check out Lunenberg and Mahome Bay in Nova Scotia or outside of Moncton or St Andrew’s By the Sea in New Brunswick ( it is where Thor not the peacock is restoring a home) Both the Moncton NB and Halifax NS have international airports . The Bay of Fundy in NB and the south shore of Nova Scotia are breathtakingly beautiful and restful

Hi Nicole- I’m actually the person who reached out to Stephanie about becoming the tastemaker for our upcoming Collector sale. A very special aunt turned me on to Chateau Diaries during lockdown in spring 2020, and just like many others have said before, the Chateau Diaries were really a light for us in a dark time. You may have no idea of the impact your vlogs have on many of us! I cried with tears of joy when you made the Christie’s announcement and I cried even more when I saw you do the same route from Turin that I did with my friends and their kids and my grandson to Florence. We flew from Paris to Turin and rented a van to drive to Florence. This vlog was everything for a person like me with forest fires destroying our air quality and unable to travel! But you’ve been vaccinated. It doesn’t make sense that you have to be quarantined. I’m outraged that they have made that a stipulation in order to enter the U.S. We have a huge illegal horde of migrants entering from the southern border but vacationers from other countries must quarantine. I'm sure you're keeping close tabs on all the travel restrictions and rules can change moment to moment, but as of now the US is not permitting non-essential travelers to enter from Canada so as of now, at least, I'm not sure that will work as a quarantine option. Iceland is a Schengen country so under the current rules it's out, too. Perhaps Bermuda?

I would suggest Nova Scotia - I know some lovely, relaxing places but most of all Inverness. The beaches there are my favorite and I've traveled the world and the sunsets are awe-inspiring. The people are so friendly and warm, and the seafood, especially the PEI scallops are the best in the world. And you will have no distractions because you will be away from it all. I know you'll find a good place to land. AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU FABULOUS HUMAN!

Happy Birthday! So excited for your trip to New York!. Love that city. For your 2 week stay, I suggest you go to a beautiful Inn on Prince Edward island called Dalvay by the Sea. A very quiet secluded location, with plenty of walks nearby, beautiful fresh air and a very quick flight to New York afterwards. We stayed there two years ago October, the weather was glorious and I would highly recommend it. We rented a car , drove along the coast and toured the island. We saw lots of wild beautiful foxes and owls it was a beautiful place to test relax and rejuvenate.

Congratulations on an amazing invitation. A good thing that you and Phillip have been practicing with your window shopping game! Check out Albania. Beautiful, low Covid, direct flights to New York. You need a 72 hour covid test to get into the US from anywhere but apparently you can take self-administered tests with you so you dont need to worry about scheduling a test and getting results back in time. Lat night while I was working and sitting on my desk figuring out how to balance the nurses and aides for the morning shift [we have nationwide shortage] I suddenly paused because I know there's something special about this day, I told my co-worker -hmm, I said I know today someone's birthday but could not remember whose birthday it is--> it was yours! From watching your videos I'm learning all kinds of British words for houses that are different than what Americans use. It took me a while to figure out: skip=dumpster; render=stucco; snug=TV room; skirting=baseboards; cornices=crown molding; glassing=windows; homely=homey (never tell an American they are homely); ceiling rose=ceiling medallion, bed head=headboard; valance=bed skirt. I'm sure there are a lot more.

You’ve probably figured out where you’re going to quarantine but maybe consider Canada if it’s allowed. Hopefully, being on the same continent to quarantine will give you time to acclimate to the time changes. Toronto is probably the nearest and easiest to NYC but Nova Scotia is quiet and lovely.

Wonderful news, you so deserve this, Christies made a fantastic choice! And for Philip. I am very happy to know that he will be with you on this exciting adventure. Italy is wonderful, I miss visiting Tuscany. Pizza on the water is the best, and here is Scotland I often have fish and chips sitting on the beach, no matter what the weather. @Stephanie and @Philip if you haven’t booked yet PLEASE consider BERMUDA where we live. Many people are spending their two week exiles here (and we’re a quick 90 minute flight New York) with direct 5 hr flight from Bermuda on BA to Heathrow. Ironic really as My husband and I are currently an hour from La Lande on the A89/E70 and spending next week in Scotland before heading home. If you do end up in Bermuda and need any help/suggestions please reach out. Would love to buy you a drink/dinner whatever. Alex & Rich

Stephanie, the US border is closed to Canadians driving but not by air. You could spend your quarantine time in Toronto or Montreal. Another option is Dublin or Bermuda?

I still think that Saint Pierre et Miquelon is the best boring option but Bermuda seems funnier : they've got a "Grotto beach resort" with a SPA into a cavern with stalactite ! Just want to flag Stephanie that the delta varient is blowing up in the NY/NJ northeast region of the US. New York City has mask mandates and many vaccination mandates that will help, but be careful when you come! I was at a wedding a week ago and so far more than 20 of my family members have been diagnosed with Covid… Many of these are breakthrough cases 😪

You will be relatively near where the Marie Antoinette Lookout is in Pennsylvania. She never made it there because of her demise but members of the French aristocracy bought land that was across the river from the lookout and built a house there for Marie Antoinette and the Dauphin during plans to escape.
