Just waking to the birds here in Maine, USA warm bread with butter sounds delicious!

Anonymous

Was looking forward to this💯

Woohoo dinner time here in Brisbane and I get to watch some bread making. Also I just noticed the batsh*t level on the side of the pantry is at red! 😂

Anonymous

Nothing like hot bread 🍞 with lashings of butter 🧈. Well done Phillip, everything is hard first time but on camera too, well done. Great work too Michael, love hearing your voice, beautiful. They have no excuse to kill the starter anymore xxx

Anonymous

Thank you for this Tutorial! Did I miss the link to "How to start a Starter?"?

Thanks for sharing this recipe with us. I've been wanting to make some sourdough bread.

Anonymous

That looked like amazing bread and was so fun watching it being made. You all have a beautiful comradeship. Thanks for sharing it!

This was so therapeutic! I love the kitchen as classroom! Not just Phillip and Michael, but of course Stephanie’s commentary, and then Nick and Antoine popping in to watch at times. It’s so lovely to feel a part of the heart of LeLande literally in the kitchen! Is it just me or does everyone agree there’s something so special about when Nick and Michael are at LeLande? The joy Stephanie feels at having them there with her is palpable, I can feel it even on the other side of the world!

The porcelain looks a lot like Royal Copenhagen purpur. They paint purpur on white porcelain in a few styles : purpur musselmalet , purpur blomst/buket and one more JulianeMarie purpur, however it is expensive but not as FloraDanica. The bread is one to keep 🥖👏🏻❤️

The (milk) jug can be used for extra boiling water for the small teapot. I'm one for sliced bread bought in the supermarket; it doesn't go stale after five minutes and you can get on with living your life instead of all this faffing about!

Anonymous

Looks wonderful!! 😊 Phillip will be a pro in no time!!

Anonymous

This is so enjoyable to watch. Thank you. Sharon

PHILLIP! Watch YouTube Bake with Jack - Sourdough 101, and it will all make sense. Great first attempt, keep baking 😋

The simple things in life are the things that make life worthwhile.

I feel when the three owners of the Chateau are together that the Chateau is happy and at it's best and it shows that in the vlogs. The chateau is a family and friend home and it just shines when all of them are together.

Would love to have written recipes for starter and the bread. What temp do you bake the bread?

Julia Cobb

Philip, “You’ve got the video now, do it yourself.” Hilarious 😂 I’ve never actually wanted to do bread before, but now! I’m buying ingredients and trying it! Thank you all.

Anonymous

Love the breakfast set. It's so 18th century. Philip has a great eye. I'm amazed at his attention to detail and memory for decorative arts.

Anonymous

Mmmmmm Yummy the bread looked so delicious I have to make some , well done Philip love the breakfast set too xx

Anonymous

I'd love to see a photo of the original porcelain set that you are adding to, Philip!

Now I feel like I need to wake up my starter and bake again! My favorite starter discard recipe was for brownies from Bake From Scratch. Best brownies I’ve ever made. One big tip for Philip: get a plastic bench scraper which is pliable and instead of using your hands to do the fold you can use the scraper. It doesn’t stick as much as your hands after you cover it with some flour. You can use it to scrape the extra dough on the table as well for cleanup.

Anonymous

Thank you Michael for your explenation about making the starter, now I understand 😊 but as Stephanie says a lot of mathematics 😏 are involved.

I have seen several, and when I say several I mean hundreds of videos on youtube regarding bread making. This was the easiest tutorial to follow as well as very informative!! Thank you Michael, Phillip and Stephanie for another amazing LaLande explanatory video...always such a delight To spend time with the most amazing people I follow on social media! Cheers and Blessings to you all...💗Marylou

Micheal is so charming & endearing. I am awarding him the "Man Crush" Wednesday award.

Denise Behrends

Such a thorough tutorial, Michael. I appreciate your attention to detail! Is there any scent or taste in the world more alluring than homemade baked bread slathered with dollops of butter?! It’s right up there with dark chocolate and freshly brewed coffee!

Anonymous

Thank you Michael, Phillip and Stephanie for the bread tutorial! That was a lot of fun. I may even try making some sometime soon though I'm not sure I could commit to keeping the starter alive for too long. And Phillip, your breakfast set is sooooooo pretty. It is kind of perfect. I love it. <3

I was thinking about a LeLande cookbook! All the food featured in the vlogs look scrumptious and I would love to learn how to make all of them!

Anonymous

oh, lol....I'm still thinking about Phillip's set and I just want to add that I think the color and style of your breakfast set really feels (to me, anyway) both old-fashioned and modern, simultaneously. It's just cool!

Anonymous

I don't think anything can beat the smell & taste of homemade breads! I love making soft luscious breadsticks & big softish pretzels to dip into smooth melty scrumptious cheese! mmm mmmmm

Anonymous

Bench scrapers are a kitchen must-have, they even come in handy when chopping.

Heidi Panella

Mmmmmm that looked delicious!! Loved watching this, but I don't think I could pull it off. As Stephanie said it's very mathematical... me and mathematics... not so much. Fun to watch. The porcelain is beautiful, love the red 😍

My son loves to bake his own bread, but his favorites are the heartier, darker types of breads; the whole wheats and ryes. He also likes to use honey and molasses as sweeteners; I rather prefer lighter and whiter. This recipe looks wonderful. I am wondering how the recipe would fare with the addition of an egg or eggs as part of the liquid.

Tina Winther

Totally fun to watch this hands-on teaching by Michael and Philip! Totally dig the porcelain find and tea time tasting party for three! 💗💜🫖🥖🧈☑️

Georgette Jones

Love this, I am going to try making bread❣️

I love your porcelain, Philip!

If you're looking for more ways to use your starter discard - I highly recommend the Viet Vegan's sourdough discard chocolate chip cookie recipe! Lisa also has a great piece linked on that recipe with trouble shooting for any starter problems you might run into. https://thevietvegan.com/vegan-sourdough-discard-chocolate-chip-cookies/

Anonymous

I’m going to try this. Starter gets started tonight😎

Anonymous

It looks so good! Especially when someone else makes it 😊 Stephanie is truly blessed 😊😊

Anonymous

Oh boy fresh bread❤️

Anonymous

Does anyone else remember the starter called "Herman" in the USA? There were literally thousands of recipes for its use on the old bulletin boards! Dating myself, I know! LOL!

Anonymous

I love so much when Philip is in the kitchen and being so enthusiastic whith the porcelaine. Thank you Michael for the tutorial.

Anonymous

Micheal is so patient & cordial! Great tutor 😊

Theresa Romero

Awww, how wholesome and lovely this is! Love to you all! 💗

Can we please see a video one day of every item of porcelain and everything else Philip has purchased since arriving at Lalande? I'm starting to think he will need his own Chateau soon . . . .

Fantastic! I love bread baking and I can't wait to try Michael's method. I'd also like to comment that Marie (wife of Nic)'s new hair color is SPECTACULAR and she looked stunning in the regular video earlier this week! Analise is such a great hairdresser-- I'd almost fly to France just to have her cut and color my hair!! Where did Marie say she purchased her dress with the V&A pattern? It's lovely. Finally WOW WOW WOW we've blown past $30,000, well on the way to $31,000. Isn't this community incredible and aren't we lucky to go along on Stephanie and Lalande's fantastic journey! It just gets better and better!

I could almost taste that bread...yum. Phillip if no one has suggested this then I'd recommend using sterilizing fluid to get rid of all your stains on China from tea/coffee etc. It's what is used for sterilizing babies bottles. Milton or similar here in the UK.

I have been dreaming and imagining how delicious this home baked bread must be...Now that the recipe + technique was passed on to Philip/de L.L., I am hopeful that when the pandemic is over I can travel to C de LL one day and perhaps taste this. Although I am extremely in love with Napflio and Bohol, I love France. as well..When I first received my passport I traveled to UK to see my uncle then France/Paris to taste authentic crepes, attend mass at Notre Dame cathedral and the Basilica de Sacre Coeur plus not to forget Marie Antoinette's home/palace. I have to come back to see it again, I only saw 1/2 of the palace because my aunt can't walk further so we stopped and went home :)

Sandra Warmbreath

Actually try using dark chocolate instead of butter on warm bread and thats true heaven!

Anonymous

what bread nerds. I love it. looks amazing! I think im going to try my own bread making.

Anonymous

I love it! I made bread early in lockdown, but it was a no knead slow rise. I haven't been brave enough to deal with feeding sourdough yet - I know i'd kill it it too!

Anonymous

I just baked my first bread.. So yummy :)

Daniel Hammond

That loaf! I am shaking in my shoes! The crust! Oh heaven!

Anonymous

Stepanie. Just watched your reunion with Michael P. While I have always loved Michael. Between you and me

Anonymous

Treat them both equally. Is my point

Anonymous

Dont forget Phillip😘

Anonymous

I LOVE this video!! It has inspired me to do some sourdough. My husband usually does the breadmaking (I do all the other cooking) but has let it go for awhile so now I guess it is my turn!! Thanks for the inspiration!!

Anonymous

I just wanted to add a link to master baker Bryan Ford's website. He has amazing sourdough recipes and — most importantly — D E L I C I O U S discard recipes! https://www.artisanbryan.com/recipes/category/Sourdough+Discard+Recipes

Wonderful to be in the kitchen with Michael and Phillip and you, I don 't think I Will make bread because I would eat it all. I have a lo e!y

Anonymous

Lovely patisserie fairly close! Enjoyed the day and beautiful Set of dishes.

Melissa M Thiessen

Stephanie, I love that dress. It really looks great on you!!

Anonymous

Michael, Stephanie, Phillip? Is your dutch oven ceramic or cast iron?

Anna Ibarra

So I’m a non baker, cook don’t care much for baking, but since watching Michael make bread, and now this video and Philip, such as myself not well in the kitchen, makes me hopeful. Philip I look forward to seeing you do it alone. This was such fin, the bread cutting sounded so delish.

Anonymous

It’s both

Anonymous

Phillip, maybe your teapot is made originally for the Russian market? They had small pots for strong tea and a big pot of hot water to add on. I really like that you guys value old porcelain. They are done with so much craftsmanship.

Sharon cole

Brilliant mmmm i could just eat that bread looked amazing i bet it tasted amazing too .well done simply beautiful 🦔🐿🐀🐁🐇🐤xx

BJ Monte

I make a Korean-style green onion pancake with the discarded starter.

Anonymous

I love the "bat sh*t" meter on the chalkboard - LOL

Anonymous

I thought silly teapot, only serves one cup of tea. It does serve 2, but I wonder if there are smaller tea cups for that set. I am one of those people that started baking their own bread during the pandemic. I found a no knead bread (lazy) recipe which is pretty good. :) I dream of going to Lalande to get some of that starter though 😊❤

Anonymous

yay yay I came from YouTube after hearing bread day might be a thing! I’m so happy I get to be a patron!
