And last but not least, thank you so much for introducing us to Marc and Amy. They are such a delight- much more interesting and charming than the way the DIY series depicted them. The glimpses at Marc's family home are wonderful but I especially enjoyed his description of French table settings and manners. Who knew about all that passing back and forth according to rank!

Gosh I feel such an affinity with him, my own childhood rooms were very like this, insects, stuffed beasties and old books. I used to keep all sorts in little wardian cases. To this day I still collect and keep up bugs and eggs and nests I find. I suppose I"ve never really moved out of the nursery floor LOL. And my Barbies happily shared shelves with old dolls that were great grans or tattered old heads and arms of dolls, long since broken, kept in little jars. Shelves and jars and bottles labeled by pen dipped in ink wells. :) have cigar boxes full of shells from relatives collecting them up.

Marc is adorable!! They are such an interesting couple and am thrilled to see them here! Their first video I watched was of them picking out their Christmas tree....I was hook right away. They are just really interesting people. Makes me realize I am very boring!! Haha...

I'm so pleased to hear the name Nancy has been chosen for the sweet silky chicken. I hope this helps lift Nati's spirits as she grieves the loss of her dear friend. I also love the shutter dogs that arrived. They are very reminiscent of the adorable characters Stephanie's father created for the beautiful tiles he designed for the kitchen back splash. I'm not sure that was the intention, but things always seem to come together so perfectly at Lalande. Such a magical place. Sending you all hugs and love.

Absolutely wonderful to see the treasures in this family. How kind they are to take you through. It's wonderful when family preoccupations and achievements are there to be seen and contemplated by following generations. Not everybody has such a chateau with space to store things like that but we can also find ways to honour our ancestors.

Nancy is a wonderful name! Glad you are feeling better. But don't overdo it. If you plan to add more poultry birds, why not add a couple of the French Grey Toulouse Goose? They are adorable, and at one point, their population had really decreased. There is also the Greylag Goose that are quite cute as well. Get a little mix going on. I have heard that the Toulouse are pretty friendly and easy to care for.

I love the name Nancy! That’s so sweet to honor Nati’s friend. The DeGorgnay (sp) wallpaper book-where was it found? I’ve had several of their wallcoverings over the years. My favorite was a Chinese theme with a yellow background-in my foyer and stair well.

There is a wonderful spray you can buy to clean a chandelier! Here in the USA it is called Crystal Kleene. You may need a few bottles for that large of a chandelier!

They’re so much fun. Do be careful if you’re in the USA. We have so many predators here and your location determines what are the best breeds for your climate. I used to keep a flock but sadly we got hit with fowl pox and it killed most of my birds. Then we had raccoons and a fox also take out many so we rehomed them to a friend’s place that had more birds and dogs trained to repel predators. When you get them as small chicks and hand raise them, they’re much more tame and enjoyable. Also find a vet that deals with poultry issues. Fowl pox is a terrible thing. I really loved my birds and it was such a terrible thing to lose them all.

If Marc would be interested in identifying the locations in the photos without labels, he could scan them easily with just an iphone or ipad and share them on a forum like Reddit. There are whole subreddits dedicated to IDing things (I particularly like the plant ID ones. There may be a subreddit dedicated to dating photos or IDing locales. I think he’s going to need to dedicate himself a special study/library especially for natural history!
