Hi Allies!

The penultimate episode of Brandon Plays Pokémon is here. I gotta be honest, as Brandon describes the oncoming sunset of his journey, I see a changed man. In nine episodes of this show I've seen him evolve from this regular guy who wasn't even sure this was an RPG into a Poké-pro who slides through his final gym badge without even looking. I'm not embarrassed to say I am deeply afraid of the battle we'll share for Part 10. Thanks for supporting us through the series, and we hope to see you next week for the grand finale!

Love & Respect,

Kyle

Thank you guys for this wonderful show and all the continued hard work. Love and respect. Lets go!!

Gotta disagree strongly with you, Jones. That Giovanni reveal was sick as hell. I doubt that anyone in Viridian City knew about Giovanni's involvement with Team Rocket. Being a gym leader is essentially his day job. The sudden abandonment of Team Rocket at the end is definitely silly, but I like to head-canon that away by assuming that his heart just wasn't in it anymore. You were just the push he needed. Most of the other issues would have been solved if you hadn't over-leveled your party, but if the game lets you do it, the game lets you do it. Anyway, as sad as I am that you won't be playing Gold/Silver, I'm glad we got the unique opportunity to sit in on your first Pokémon adventure. It was a hell of a ride.

Thank you so much for the dedicated works you do in general guys. I love Brandon Plays Pokemon, and also enjoy the discussion too. Keep up the great work! Looking forward to BPP10! Love&Respect :)

This has me full of excitement! CRUSH HIM BRANDON!

BONNNNEESAW IS REEAADDY!

havik

Do the same thing for Pokemon Sun! I love this show!

It's not like *everyone* knows Giovanni is Team Rocket, you only know cuz you're a nosy brat!

I feel so proud of Jones. This whole show made me remember my little young self playing Pokemon Red for the first time, not speaking or understanding english, trying to learn the game, fight the gyms and the Elite four (that wrecked me multiple times) and having those amazing encounters with all these wild and awesome pokemons out there. Very nice job with this show. Congratulations on becoming a Pokemon Master Jones! Looking forward to the last part and the battle against Bosman.

Anonymous

Y'all should talk about the fan theory that Giovanni is your characters father. That and the Team Rocket is the good guys all along theory.

Anonymous

If you lose to Bosman, you have to do a rematch in Sun and Moon later!

Omg Jones reaction to Giovani being the final gym leader is hilarious. I love this series so much and am really looking forward to the finale. I hope you guys continue the Brandon Plays series, hopefully with Pokémon Snap next since you guys won't be playing Gold & Silver.

Always interesting to hear Brandon's take on the story. Really hope he watches Origins and gets to talk about it. Hoping Kyle doesn't pull a MissingNo for the finale. Thanks for this series and for motivating me to get back into the franchise that I loved growing up. Gonna be kinda sad when that last episode goes up.

Is Brandon ready for REAL Pokemon training and breeding? Natures, abilities, IV's! EV's! Chain bred egg moves. I suspect not :(

This is basically where I am too. The gyms being so focused on each element is its own thing and can make them trivial at times, but Jones used one of the strongest pokemon he'll ever get which had a tremendous type advantage over that gym, so of course he cruised. Not that he should intentionally handicap himself or anything, just that's the way it worked out.

Anonymous

Jones, yes, the Team Rocket wrapup is weak. But you said it yourself the reason for it. It's a kid's RPG. So they need to do the "and all ends well". It's unfortunate, but that's the mentality of the 90's. IMO at least.

Kyle, use the Rare Candy trick to get your Pokemon to Brandon's level. We need to give him a challenge.

Anonymous

I'm definitely going to miss this show. Booo

Evan

I haven't watched this episode yet but is he fighting the Elite Four? He hasn't beaten the game until he's done so.

Anonymous

Kyle, please discuss the reveal at the "end" of pokemon Silver and Gold, i think Jones would get a kick out of that and doubt he'll ever experience that surprise on his own.

Evan

I haven't watched the new episode yet, but does he fight the Elite Four? He's not done until he has done so in my opinion

That transition was literally the best thing I've ever seen on this show

Dear Brandon Jones, Watching Brandon Plays Pokemon (BPP) the past few months has been one of the highlights of my week. During events like a heartbreaking NBA Finals, a disaster of an election season, and trying (and mostly failing) to reach rank 70 in competitive Overwatch BPP has been the beacon of hope. When you guys left Gametrailers I knew I had to support you on Patreon. It was my first time doing something like that and I wondered what would I really get out of it. While I know that BPP isn't even Patreon exclusive I'm happy knowing that my commitment to Easy Allies allowed a show like this to exist. I honestly believe out of all the content you make this show is the most unique. The distinct blend of Kyle's deep care for the franchise, his commitment to keeping it spoiler free and his trollish and teasing nature make him the perfect opposite for you. Your attention to detail, genuine enthusiasm, and critical nature allow you two to play off one another perfectly. I know that going forward Brandon Plays Pokemon won't be continuing. Nothing in life is perfect and that includes Easy Allies. That's okay. I know that despite my favorite EZA show ending you guys will still bring the laughs and the perspective week after week on all the EZA shows. Love and Respect Ru. PS Next time level your Pokemon all at once and keep them around the same average. I think the difficulty curve the game presents will be more enjoyable that way.

Hey Allies, here's a little game: since Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem was received well, your boss decides that the company needs to have an A x B title as well. He sends you on a shopping tour but the budget only allows one AAA franchise to be used (so no Metal Gear Solid x Resident Evil, sorry ^^). So what's it going to be? Crazy Taxi x Carmageddon? Bubsy x Super Mario? Or will your title do so well that you're going to plan a whole series...? Love & respect, Bossti

So what was the reason Brandon doesn't want to use his Master Ball on Mewtwo? Didn't really understand.

Anonymous

Sounded like he just didn't think to bring it with him when he went in, since he didn't know Mewtwo would be there. I'm guessing he'll go back to get it between episodes.

When you guys battle you should do it on Pokemon stadium

Brandon K Gann

Hey Mr. Jones. Just a couple of quick housekeeping questions about your playthrough: Did you get your Old Amber from Cinnabar and did you buy the elemental stones from Celadon for evolutions? Despite that, this was a fantastic series and I'm looking forward to the finale! Stay Easy fellow Ally.

Anonymous

I think you guys should really make your battle an event. It's what the whole series has been building up to after all.

Anonymous

I don't want this to end!

Tygre

I have absolutely adored this series, and am super hyped for the Final battle. I really hope you guys make it everything it can be, and I'd rather have it a little delayed if that's what it takes.

Anonymous

Watch pokemon 2000!! I forgot how excited and meaningful that movie was because you finished that game kind of know what Mewtwo is. Watch the movie and it explains everything.

Anonymous

I've really loved this series! Looking forward to the final battle.

What is Brandon's Pokedex count? Does he need to spend some more time in the tall grass? I'm surprised he didn't get more in the Safari Zone.

Anonymous

Yes; but i don't think they will be able to get their 3DS pokemon on Stadium like we used too with our Red and Blue cards in the card reader.

Andrew Chalmers

Regarding the battle, don't worry too much Brandon. Just have fun. If anything, I hope you lose just to set you in your place (given how OP you've been in Red), and give you something to aspire to in Player vs. Player Pokemon battles. To me, that would be the perfect ending to Brandon Plays Pokemon.

Anonymous

Brandon, you should watch Pokemon Origins, which is a short 4 episode (20mins each) mini-series retelling of Pokemon Red. It'll be really nice to see what you just experienced come to life (especially the last episode is very relevant to Part 9 above), and its not a big time commitment either.

Anonymous

Please Kyle.... Level up and destroy Brandon.... I think the best end for this is for you to go in with a battle plan that throws Jones completely off his guard and cements a "not yet" feeling for Brandon to chase you with in Pokemon Sun and Moon....

Anonymous

Nice name for Moltres.

Kyle, time for MissingNo Rare Candies

Anonymous

No way dude, Brandon's ace in the hole is just a level 70 Charizard. Kyle has years of type-matchup familiarity. There was never a time Brandon was going to win this.
