Hi Allies!

    Brandon Plays Pokémon picks up this week as our hero Jones finds himself in an entire town occupied by Team Rocket. This episode is a little crazy, as Brandon and I somehow ended up on separate paths, and so he's explaining moments I've forgotten to me. Is the student becoming the master? Hardly.

Sigh. I feel really bummed out. The mega charizard i sent was no where to be seen. neither in this episode of brandon plays pokemon nor cup of jones, I actually felt bad that i sent mega and looked for the proper evolutions and sent those too. Really disappointed.

Great episode! I think Spore is the most effective sleep-inducing attack in the game, but I could be wrong.

You don't have to trade; but please explain every reason why to trade... missing pokemon and evolutions. Jones doesn't want a Alakazam ? or a Vulpix ?

It would be really interesting to see Brandon go from gen 1 pkmn to sun/moon and skip all the incremental improvements from all the other game's and see what he thinks of the differences between the two games.

Kyle you should make sure that Jones knows the game doesn't necessarily end after the credits roll on his Pokemon League journey. Wouldn't want him to miss out on surprises that open up after he finishes.

Super great episode as usual. I wouldn't mind this becoming a bi-weekly show if it meant that the episodes would keep the hour+ length. I can't go back to just thirty minutes like in the beginning. I agree that Brandon should be allowed to see the type chart. Basically anything that was in the instruction manual he should be allowed to see. I also would love a debriefing episode once we've seen the credits.

I haven't played a single Pokemon game, and yet I'm really into listening these conversations. I guess the collecting part just gets into me that much, so I'm eager to hear what Brandon has captured.

I always thought the fact that you couldn't catch another trainer's Pokemon was due to how Pokeballs work. When a Pokemon is caught (gets digitized or whatever happens), it's "bound" to that ball. That's why trainers (in the anime) don't have to throw balls at their own Pokemon to return them, they just say "Return" and that laser shoots out of the ball and pulls them in. If it was due to the law, what stops Team Rocket from just chucking balls all the time to steal other people's Pokemon? All that hole digging would go to waste.

I know you said that this show is a lot of work and you want to get back to reviewing but I just wanted to let you know that despite never playing a Pokemon game myself or being a fan in any way this is my favorite show Easy Allies produces. It the only one on my 'new episode! Must watch immediately!! list. The interaction between the two of you and the joy of discovery/ introducing a passion to a friend. You guys really created something special with this show. I hope that even if you need to take a break it's a format you revist as it is just a joy to watch and content unique to you. I've never seen anyone else do a show like this it would be a shame to never see anymore of them

I really really really hope Jones gives Gold/Silver a go. I can't wait to see him revisit Kanto. That was one of my favorite memories in all of gaming and Pokemon has continued to fail to match it every game since. I'd love to have that experience again vicariously through Brandon!

I figure a good reason to trade is you can have him trade you the version exclusives your version doesn't have in return for those, so in a way that will give Jones a quest to seek out the counterparts to trade to you. Not sure if you want to do this trade spree post-game or maybe let Jones look at the first stages of everything on the list and pick one he likes that he can trade for before the end of the game. That's up to you to decide. Just wanted to remind you that at some point you will need to and very much have a reason to trade. Love the show. Good luck.

Kyle's face when he heard Mr. Mime and the talk about him after was priceless. Copycat does copy you if I'm remembering correctly....or at least someone in that game does. I was waiting to see Jones' reaction to that. Kyle's favorite Pokemon from Gen 1 is Farfetch'd? Such a troll, Kyle. lol

Really hope that after this is done that Brandon and Kyle do this same thing with Sun and Moon. It will be a whole new experience for John's to see how the game has changed from the first. This is likely just a personal opinion, but I would much rather have awesome in depth discussions about a game like this than watching a review. Everyone and then some does reviews, they are a one and done thing that many just care about the score that actually means nothing. No one other than EZA are doing things like this and that's what makes them so unique.

I kinda hope Kyle eventually tells Brandon about the evolutions for Haunter and Machoke at least, I could be wrong but I don't think the game tells you about it and it'd be a shame if Brandon missed out.

I played pokemon red for the first time ever when this stream started. This makes it a very awesome show. I have finished the game now but it still makes it super awesome. Good stuff. JD

BRANDON. Why don't you give CUT to Toxie(Gloom)? He is and going to be so much better than Wormtail (Beedrill). Besides that, I love these episodes and I love the way you think about playing Pokémon and your team. I'm so excited for you to go to Fuchsia and walking around a certain game. I hope you're going to play that a lot and I really wonder what you think of it. Well, let's just wait for a few weeks!

So I noticed that Kyle is encouraging Brandon to play Sun/Moon when it comes out. Do you think this is a good idea? Or should Jones move on to Gold/Silver? On the one hand, it'd be cool to see Jones see the progression from Red/Blue to Gold/Silver, and see how awesome it is (16 badges, and fighting Ash's high level Pokemon at the end of the game), whereas on the other hand, it might be cool to see Jones go from old school straight to the latest version of Pokemon and see how the series has evolved (pun intended).

This show is fantastic, but I entirely get Jones not wanting to continue this moving forward. I am curious about maybe having the same format but you can have one or two entirely different people. For example, Brad can share his love for Kingdom Hearts with Blood. I do understand not wanting to play through a ton of old games in a single year when new games are coming out, so that is just a thought I had. If it cycles you get a similar dialogue, but you can delegate the workload across the EZA team.

Hey so, Im sure tons of people have suggested this but, why not rotate both seats for this series so the burden isnt entirely on Bosman and brandon? Id love to see huber or ben host a Kyle plays Dragon Quest 8, or Damiani host a Someone plays Final Fantasy 9. There are plenty of great games only some of you have played, and this format is too good to let go. just consider it! Love and Respect-

I love the discussions the allies have in this series. I don't have a question, I just have a few advance Pokemon techniques for you. If an offensive move matches the type of the Pokemon using it, it has a 50% power increase called Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB). For example, Johnny (Charizard) has Flamethrower, which is 90 damage * 1.5 Fire STAB = 135 Damage. That being said, it's good to have moves that have alternative types to cover other types to surprise opponents. For example, Johnny is a Fire-Flying type and weak to Electric Pokemon. However, Johnny can learn a certain Ground type move that devistates them. In fact, I think you might have picked up TM26 recently? Choose wisely, as it's a one time use item... One last tip. Pokemon afflicted with Burn will also have a damage penalty, while Pokemon afflicted with Paralysis will have a speed penalty.
