Content

Hi everyone, Bloodworth here.

One of the first things we committed to with Easy Allies is a consistent streaming schedule, but of course one of the challenges of streaming is that there are always people who can't make it, no matter what time you choose. To add further difficulty, many of our international viewers reported that they couldn't watch Twitch archives, and as a result were missing out on a huge portion of our content.

To make it simpler for everyone who wanted to keep up we began exporting streams to YouTube under the banner of Easy Allies Plays. However, producing those archives to satisfy some fans has alienated others. In the two short weeks since we've started, the amount of content has already become somewhat overwhelming. Few viewers could hope to keep up with hours of gameplay, and some simply aren't interested to begin with. Plus, among all the daily streams, it was already becoming hard to spot new shows when they were released.

So while we originally intended to keep all of our content on one channel, we've decided that it's in everyone's best interest to introduce a second channel for Easy Allies Plays. This way, if you need to catch up on our regularly scheduled streams, there's still a dedicated way to do so, but subscribers to the main channel who watched live or don't care will be able to keep track of shows more effectively. Hopefully this will be the best of both worlds for everyone. We welcome your feedback below.

Cool! Nice job!

Anonymous

I was really hoping for this! Good way to keep streams and original content organized!

Anonymous

Awesome :D best Idea!!

Anonymous

This seems like the best idea

Anonymous

Very welcome idea!

Anonymous

I agree, I think that's a good preemptive move. This makes most people happy and keeps your main channel's brand strong.

Anonymous

I like it! It works for me.

Robert I.

I agree, back to two channels is best!! Thank you again for even posting the streams!!

Anonymous

Think it's a great idea. Best of both!

Anonymous

I concur.

Anonymous

I would say seperate the stream folders by streamer and group stream.

Mecha Messiah

Good idea! I'm for streamline and order

Anonymous

This worries me a bit, Blood. It always irked me that there were two GT channels. I get that it might flood people's YouTube subscription feeds if they don't sub to a lot of channels already, but I don't want to see you guys splitting your audience. Maybe if the two channels were distinct and this channel was strictly used for stream archives, then I could see it working. I know that the GT Reviews channel had GT Live, whereas GT Time was on the main GT channel. Felt a little disjointed and I feared that it split your audience.

Anonymous

Wow, great move. I've seen channels let something like that go on for a year without doing anything about it. I'm impressed!

Anonymous

Wasn't a problem for me as an international viewer but great to see feedback is being taken in. Keep it up guys.

Anonymous

A very reasonable idea, I think it's a good call.

Anonymous

I approve of this decision. The streams were starting to overwhelm the channel.

Anonymous

This is a great idea I enjoy your streaming, but have been struggling to find shows. Glad you are being so flexible! Happy to be on the journey with you all.

Anonymous

Good decision and much appreciated here in Europe! I prefer YouTube over the Twitch archive videos.

Anonymous

Really smart idea guys. Keep up the good work.

Anonymous

Good idea

Ian Alexander

Sounds reasonable to me! I am one of the international viewers (Taiwan) who usually misses the live streams and Twitch archives aren't always reliable.

Michael Eaton

I didn't have trouble keeping up but I appreciate the idea. I'll sub to both.

Anonymous

This is a great idea, main shows were becoming hard to spot in the flood of streams

Anonymous

I think it is a good idea -especially once you get regular shows rolling so they are not flooded with streams. I am glad you are still putting the streams somewhere as sometimes I miss ones I want to see and can check them out at work on Youtube. Also, your "Easy Allies Plays" link goes to Easy Allies page.. not sure if it was supposed to be linked to a new channel.

Anonymous

Yup, Good idea. Go for it. Just make sure both channels are tied together so people can find both without much effort.

Anonymous

Fine by me! Engage! o/

Anonymous

I never found it hard to spot new content, as stuff was divided into playlists and fairly straightforward, but if the majority likes this idea it's fine.

Anonymous

Definitely a good idea. I'm one of those people who isn't really interested in long gameplay streams, and while I could still pick out the new shows among the streams just fine, it's definitely better to not have those cluttering up my subscription feed on YouTube.

Anonymous

Also, consider puting out another patreon for the second channel(like kindafunny), that way it may be easier to reach that seet 50k milestone, and get you guys full time in a brand new office. Thanks for reading and, as always, Love & Respect

Anonymous

Good :)

Adam Mullany

It's a good call - I love your produced content but I'm not really a big fan of watching streams (think I'm getting old!), so this is a good way to keep everyone happy 👍

Anonymous

gonna watch stuff how ever you guys provide it....just don't go away again. You guys make my deployments bearable.

Anonymous

Definitely seems like the right move as far as usability is concerned.

Anonymous

Yip good idea blood

Anonymous

I personally watch the VODs on twitch because there's a chat replay there that i think is nice for when you interact with the chat on stream so i can know what it is you're responding to. Because I watch them there I dont really need to have the stream archives in my youtube feed so it wouldn't hurt if they were on a different channel.

Anonymous

Might be just me, but the link to the second channel leads to the main one? And it would probably be a good idea to put the second channel under the 'Channels' tab on the main account's profile page.

Anonymous

i'm glad it's all available and I don't mind subscribing to two channels.

Anonymous

I'm fine with this. Thumbs up.

Anonymous

A good idea, as long as all the EZA shows stay on one channel. Keep up the great work, I've never wanted an organisation to succeed more than this one.

Tristan Gray

This makes sooo much more sense. Thanks for responding to feedback so quickly! <3

Anonymous

Good idea lads

Anonymous

Absolutely the right move. Keep it up Allies!

Anonymous

seems fine, which ever works best. Personally, I do not have difficulty navigating the content just like what gamespot does, flood you with 2 minute videos. However, for new audiences it can be overwhelming to have too many uploaded streams together with shows. There is playlist but some are just too lazy too look for it.

Connor Rosine

I dislike the idea of two channels, but I think it's necessary. At least this split makes more sense that an isolated reviews channel!

Anonymous

Both of those links go to the main page. I like this, it's good for Europeans that miss twitch streams. Also twitch doesn't work on Vita, which I use to watch the shows so as to save phone battery.

Anonymous

Good idea:)

Anonymous

Great idea as I like you for the shows and with all the lets plays things could get lost.

Anonymous

Make sure to feature the channels on their counterparts 'channels' tab on YouTube!

DualOrange

Killer idea, Blood.

Anonymous

I like the idea

Anonymous

Best of both worlds Blood. All for it.

Anonymous

Good move that is highly appreciated. It's also good to see that you've already put the vidoes into playlists which helps A LOT. Thanks.

Anonymous

its the best of both worlds indeed.

Anonymous

Dude im the same way! Last GT kept me going last year in africa and this year EZA will keep me going in afganistan!

EasyAllies

sorry, should be fixed now https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCL7O6Onu0lBcwZ8t-YMgGcw

Anonymous

Yes! Definitely a good solution.

Anonymous

Great plan !

Anonymous

Good idea Blood

Anders Öhlund

I only see positives with approach.

Anonymous

Always improving, nice idea!

Anonymous

I'm very happy about this decision Blood, I started getting a bit annoyed by the avalanche of gameplay videos already. So thanks!

Anonymous

I don't have an opinion one way or the other, but its appreciated that yoy guys are attempting to clean things up for viewers who may need a more curated experience

Anonymous

This up-front and transparent communication is why I'm a premium subscriber. Thank you Bloodworth!

Anonymous

Great idea. Being in the UK I usually can't catch streams live and YouTube is way better than Twitch's VOD player so I use it a lot. If this helps the shows stand out and not get flooded by stream then I'm all for it. Does this mean every stream will be put on YouTube or more like highlights?

Anonymous

Great move, Blood. Main channel was getting messy.

Mokiki

Well done!

Anonymous

Great idea, much needed. Some of us just aren't interested. Thanks guys!

Anonymous

This is a welcome change!

Anonymous

Smart move. All the Let's Plays, while great, were flooding my subscription feed. Keep up the great work, fellas!

Andrew Chalmers

Would it be better to drop the "S" on "PLAYS"? I think "Easy Allies Play" has a better ring to it than "Easy Allies Plays". This name would also fall in line with the standard title of "Let's Play".

Anonymous

Great move, main channel was getting messy and the let's plays were making things a bit overwhelming

Anonymous

awesome :)

Anonymous

It's hard to me to understand the concept of being mad because there is just too much content that you like. I myself prefer to have as few channel subscriptions as I can so I'm not a huge fan of this decision but I would be a hypocrite if I've said I hate it :P That said it is great to see that you guys put so much work in making your content so accessible. I have to give you props for that :).

Anonymous

Although I wasn't bothered by the stream archives, I do appreciate all of your adaptability and thoughtfulness. I'm sure these growing pains are frustrating but I think you guys are doing a fantastic job all things considered. Much respect

Anonymous

Good idea as long as the EZA plays keeps only streams. Having the reviews channel and the original programming content but then putting streams on GT Reviews always felt like it would confuse non-harecore fans.

Anonymous

Great idea, I'm about 9 hours ahead of Pacific time so I welcome this. Keep up the streams though, just try to get them up on YouTube a little sooner if possible.

Anonymous

Yes. Good move!

Anonymous

Sanity!

Anonymous

I think it's probably a good move in terms of content curation. I wish Bosman at Home was on the main channel but I've subscribed to him too now anyway.

Anonymous

Sounds like a good solution.

Anonymous

Great! Thanks!

Anonymous

Good idea, it didn't bother me personally but it's probably not a good idea to lump a high volume of unedited content into the same place of what should be the channels highlights for a new user.

Anonymous

Great decition, especially when it comes down to discovering and filtering. I'm not into LPs, though I hope you guys have great fun making them, so I do appreciate the split.

Anonymous

Thank you, I support this idea! Was just talking about this to my friend earlier today =)

Anonymous

Completely agree with the decision. I know some people love LPs; I'm just not one of them and didn't really like sorting through them.

Anonymous

I don't see why this would be perceived as a negative. The amount of content you guys have produced in two weeks has been quite substantial; making this new channel a way to reduce issues in the long term. Good form, EZA.

Anonymous

Hi Guys, while I can understand this change, especially if like you say people are complaining about it, to be honest it really does not impact me as I am already a fan of you guys and will I know to go there and sub. That said I have always felt it's a bad idea for channels to split there stuff into two channels, because when someone new finds one of your videos, and then clicks on Easy Allies for the first time they might miss out on a huge part of the content you make, yes I know you can have a link to the other channel right on the main page, I just feel like it's that old thing of the more clicks you make a person go through the less likely they are to click on it to begin with. I know this next bit might sound a bit silly but it makes it even harder to tell someone about you guys in a way, you now have to tell the person " just search Easy Allies on youtube, oh but if you wanna see there lets plays you have to search Easy allies Plays" again I know it sounds stupid and is a minor point, but how often have we all tried to tell a friend about something and the more complex you make it sound, the more you can almost see their interest fade. Anyway like I said it's not a huge issue for me personally, I just hope it's the right decision, as any critism I have comes from a good place, I really just wanna see what's best for EZA.

Anonymous

Perfect! I watch both of these, but definitely like having them separate.

Anonymous

No problems Blood! I preferred one channel, but your reasons are solid. Subbed to easy allies plays.

Anonymous

"Play" or "Plays?"

EasyAllies

It's becoming more common to treat a group as plural, but traditionally it is treated as singular. "The team is moving up the field." Not, "The team are moving up the field."

Anonymous

i was skeptical of the decision at first as i thought it would just make things more complicated to have two channels, but after reading your reasoning i agree. the last thing you want to do is alienate the supporters who are not interested in let's plays and really want to see the shows you are producing. thank you for the transparency.

Anonymous

Thanks for the explanation, Blood! You guys could make a similar post explaining why you guys chose the Star review system. I'm not a fan and I think many people also aren't, but I'd like to hear the reasoning behind this rating system and if its set in stone or you guys think it could be changed based on community feedback.

Anonymous

I'm in support of this, I was used to two channels before so this is feels like a natural way to keep things less cluttered.

Anonymous

Brilliant idea.

Anonymous

Awesome blood. Thanks for the heads up.

Anonymous

Works for me!

Anonymous

I like this! I don't generally watch streams or let's plays. I'm more interested in the produced shows: but if I want to catch up on some special streams I'll know where to go!

Anonymous

This way makes a lot of sense. I try and watch the streams live so the uploaded streams on YT are most often unnecessary for me. But having an archive is still important to me. Good idea, guys.

Anonymous

I don't feel this is totally necessary due to playlists but I appreciate you listening to the feedback. I've just subscribed to the Plays channel and still watch them live too.

RedVIII

Actually, I was kinda happy we got rid of the two channels thing that we had with Gametrailers, I liked having everything in one place. But I can live with it, if it's better for the majority. ;)

Anonymous

Great idea! With the speed at which you guys are producing original content AND streams I could see the single channel getting very cumbersome very quickly. And I think as long as you're actively cross-promoting all of your material (Twitch channel, Patreon, Facebook, YouTube channels etc) I can't see visibility being too much of an issue.

Anonymous

Living on the other side of the globe I basically never catch the streams live and I'm personally more interested in the other content. So this works just fine :) Really hoping you'll live-stream live reaction stuff like press events and such on the main channel.

Anonymous

Great idea! I watch them on twitch, so I like the choice to not have them in my regular feed.

Anonymous

Kyle just seems to be overthinking and worrying too much. He's part of a very successful (and further growing) patreon campaign, but still seems insecure about the entire idea. Between the lines, it seems like he still does not fully believe in the sustainability and scope of this project (hence not committing to an official, time consuming weekly EZA Bosman show). My impression is that he generally is less of an "entrepeneur" and more an "employee" person. It seems like he would rather go for a new "regular" job, viewing the Easy Allies stuff as a "side" thing. Alarmingly, in his "Bosman at Home" show, he still refered to himself as being "unemployed". My advice (from similar personal experience) would be to just take that leap of faith and go all-in with the Allies. So many great chances are lost when you fail to fully believe in them. He can be so proud of the work he is doing with the Allies and it really seems to be exactly what he thrives at, yet he almost evokes the impression of someone apologizing for spending time on it. So, I'd stop worrying about people telling me something like "This is no real job!" and start really giving it my all. Just make that EZA Bosman show official and fully commit to it. You are great at this and the patreons won't let you down, Kyle.

Anonymous

Good move

MaxVSTheGames

I think this is a great idea.

Anonymous

As long as it's a channel with streams only, I'm fine with it.

Anonymous

This is great and it wont water down main channel content.

Anonymous

Splitting up the GT channels wasn't the best idea for those views, but now that you all have fans contributing to EZA this is a GREAT idea!

Anonymous

I agree with streams only. I would get confused when trying to find videos with GT's set up.

Anonymous

I'm pretty happy with this change, I don't ussually watch the streams live, but I like having them running on the background while at work, and I do have to agree that seen so many stream videos on the video list of the channel was getting a bit annoying.

Anonymous

It doesn't affect the way I watch, but having a channel for streams and a channel for shows sounds like a logical solution, especially considering how fast the youtube uploads page is filling up. I'm glad you guys have gotten this thing going so quickly, full steam ahead!

Anonymous

This took me a few re-reads to wrap my brain around but now that I get it, I'm onboard. Splitting up the channel into two never seems like a good idea, but I could see organizing it in this way. Would it not work to just seperate the uploads into categories so live stream gets its own bucket, then folks could just ignore that one?

Anonymous

This is the way to do it; I've seen dedicated one-man YouTube channels split their stream archive channels with great success due to the wide gap in audience interest. It's important that both channels cross-reference each other for exposure, but outside of that, gg

Anonymous

Yes! This is perfect.

EasyAllies

That's what we were doing, but unfortunately subscribers just see everything you upload regardless of which playlist it's in.

Anonymous

You guys are fucking nothing short of amazing

Anonymous

Smart decision!

Anonymous

Definitely make a video/reference the stream channel on the main channel and also switch the videos over! It's going to bother me forever otherwise.

Anonymous

Thanks Blood! As a patron who doesn't care much for streams, it's nice. to be able to cut through all the noise and see only the relevant videos for me. Much appreciated.

Anonymous

Good news that you did this. The main channel felt just too overflowed with Let's Play videos.

Anonymous

I think this is a good idea, especially with content starting to stream in (no pun intended) more consistently like reviews and shows, having it separate really helps. Cheers allies

Anonymous

In this case, I think it's a good solution. I'll subscribe to both, so it won't change anything for me, but I guess the shows could get lost for someone that only watches them.

Anonymous

Smart move, either way it shows up in my subscriptions so my life stays the same.

Anonymous

Perfect solution!

Anonymous

This is a great idea. I'm still going to subscribe to both of course and keep following on twitch so it doesn't make a difference to me but hey that's great for other people and I'm glad that they're so commuted to helping their fans!

Tim Albers

good thing. the plays video started to annoy me. I really don't like twitch streams and watch other people play. I want to play myself and maybe with friend.

Anonymous

agree with the decision. Thanks for listening.

Anonymous

Good call.

Anonymous

This is precisely what I wanted! Well done for reading my mind.

Anonymous

That's exactly that. Not mixing your shows and creations that only you can do with your plays that anyone can do.

Anonymous

Definitely a good idea. Anyone who wants everything can subscribe to both, people who are only interested in one side can subscribe to the one they choose. Everyone wins.

Anonymous

This is a fantastic idea. It will help keep things slick and easy to understand.

Anonymous

It only makes sense. You've got so many fans that will never become audience of your streams. After 7am to 7pm workday I would rather spend up to one hour to watch your new shows/reviews and rest of it to actually play games myself (I never understood "let's plays"). Long shows are fine in audio-only form, your podcasts keep me sane during my commute and work, but I'll never find time to watch single show that is longer than 30 minutes. Separating it from your main channel is a very good idea.

Anonymous

Love it, as I really don't care about let's plays and was afraid of the clutter they'd cause.

Anonymous

Thank you! I love the shows, but I've never understood the appeal of streams and I'd started noticing the shows becoming harder to find among the streams. Please do keep the shows on a single channel (the channel split in your previous incarnation never made sense to me) but as you've described it sounds perfect for me.

Anonymous

I assumed that you guys talked to MATPAT from Game Theory about Youtube algorithms called "subscriber burn". that was a CLOSE CALL if it weren't for a certain person who give you the link about it. you guys made the Right Call for putting a 2nd channel. otherwise you will end up losing most of your audience and Patreon will be all for nothing.

Anonymous

Isn't creating 2 channels necessary to make money on YouTube? I don't know how it works but practically every big streamer has 2 channels and I never understood the reason for that.
