I know it can feel like most days feel like most other days in 2020, but with the Summer Game Fest cooking up and next-gen buzz shifting gears with long anticipated first-looks at PS5 and Series X gameplay (not to mention Last of Us Part II a few weeks away) we’re definitely feeling the seasons change here at EZA. Thanks for helping make event reactions such a success for us time and time again. It’s going to be fun watching all the good stuff finally reveal itself this summer. For today’s editorial, I’m going to run through my Top 10 Games I’d Stream Every Week If I Had the Time.

DISCLAIMER: I take questions from the post comments on the previous week’s episode here on Patreon. You can ask a business-related question which I may answer live, or a personal question which I may answer below. If your business question was not answered live, I either replied to it in the comments, or referenced the answer in a recent episode. Feel free to inquire why your question wasn't included, or ask the same question a second time if you think I may have missed it. I will edit your comment/question before reading it live to ensure the show moves as quickly as possible. I typically grab all the questions by midnight (PT) the night before each episode.

PERSONAL QUESTIONS

ALEXANDER ZYRYANOV - Speaking of movies, how often do you watch bonus features and/or listen to the audio commentaries? Do you consume all behind-the-scenes content, or do you pick something you’re interested in? Personally I watch everything (and if it’s a blu-ray I manually check its file structure – sometimes I find clips that aren’t available through the menu) and often begin to appreciate the movie more after learning how and why it was created. JONES - A decade or so ago, at the height of my DVD purchasing era, I watched every single director’s commentary I owned. Since then I don’t really gravitate toward stuff like that. With my limited selfishly-selected entertainment time, I’d rather spend my hours watching a new thing than someone talking about a thing I’ve already watched.

DANIEL SOLORZANO - This is a question I have had for you for quite some time and I would love to have your insight on the situation. CDPR has said that they do not see a future where Cyberpunk 2077 is held back at all. It will make its September release as they are only working on bug fixes and the day 1 patch right now. They have stated however that the only thing that may have been trimmed is voice acting. Only 60-70% of it may be finished by September no matter how much they try. They stated they have no problem releasing the game with only the voice acting they have done and then adding the rest via patches when the game is released. Do you think this is a smart move or do you believe that this is going to bite CDPR in the butt if they actually go through with this? Do you think that reviewers and gamers will chastise the game for its lack of voice acting or do you think it will get a free pass because of Covid-19? How would you feel playing Cyberpunk 2077 with just over half of the voice acting finished? JONES - I’ve played RPGs and first-person shooters with half-and-half spoken dialogue, so that wouldn’t be a deal breaker, but it would definitely be disappointing. Having played as many GTAs as I have, I expect your open world to be talking and talking and talking. I don’t see this move by CDPR being detrimental to their sales. Maybe the review scores SLIGHTLY but that’s it.

Hey Mr. Jones! A few weeks ago, Patreon announced they’ll be forced to charge Sales Tax per legislation and the tax is subject to be different depending not only where a given patron lives, but also what reward they’ve chosen. Physical rewards have a different rate than digital ones and only just pledging with no rewards of any kind will not be taxed. I haven’t seen or heard anything from EZA on this, but if you have, I missed it and apologize for bringing this up again. I wanted to know: Does this impact EZA in any way in terms of finances or having to slight adjust the reward tiers? I know some Patreons are adjusting their tiers, but I wasn’t sure if this was noteworthy enough to make EZA go through any changes. Thanks for taking my question and have a wonderful rest of your day! Cheers! QUESTION: Since Patreon will now be charging Sales Tax effective July 1st, does this impact EZA in any way, from finances to reward tiers or something else entirely?

Hola Brandon, I put this question in last week’s CoJ post but didn’t hear or see a response. Copying and pasting below. Take care! Hola Brandon, I know we're still weeks away, but I was curious if you knew who'd be joining you on the next Community Showcase? I recall you trying to give everyone a heads up at the end of a showcase, but I didn't catch a name this time when I went back to listen. While this might not affect my personal submission, i'm sure it might help others who try and prepare something for a specific ally if they're on. P.S. Know that the gratitude you bring up regarding the patrons still pledging is greatly appreciated. Makes it worth it even more.

Mr. Jones, I had a few recommendations for the podcast since you seem to have shown interest in the past with these topics. Weekly community art/meme submissions for higher tiered patrons. This promotes community engagement, especially for the more artistically talented patrons. If EZA memes are submitted as art, it allows a chance to explain a recent memes for the community. Game/Movie recommendation. Part of the podcast sign off can include that week's bet winner recommending a video game to play or a movie to watch for the community (included with or in place of the "any Easy Allies video" selection). I remember you seemed like you liked the idea of "staff picks" from the allies for the community but never really had a place to put this idea. Just some thoughts for engaging the community. Hi Jones, In a world where money and time wasn't an issue, could you see EZA ever doing movie/TV reviews in the same way you do game reviews, or do you think game reviews is where your guys' talents best lie? I'm not asking because I think you should start doing movie reviews, just curious if you think there would ever be interest if ever given the chance. On an unrelated note (which you don't need to read as part of CoJ unless you want to), I was watching the latest episode of Retro Replay (which is now just Nolan North as Troy Baker decided to leave) and he mentioned how he's been watching Black Sails and would love to have Tom Hopper (Billy Bones) on the show. So whatcha got to do is convince Luke Arnold to get on the show with him instead, have him put in a good word about EZA, and bing bang boom, you can have Nolan North guest on something of EZA's. (please note, this in jest, but it would be cool if it happened) L&R Logan Tawse

Hello Brandon. Is there any chance you’ll start streaming games and rendering shows/reviews in 4K when the next gen arrives? Assuming of course that by that time you’ll return to the studio or fix home internet for every ally.

Jones + Huber FFVI show would be a delight

Hi Jones, I wanted to ask if Easy Allies had considered doing more collaborations with other personalities, specifically with more diverse individuals. I love all of the Allies, but it's become harder for me lately to watch all-male podcasts. With the Allies being all male and white-presenting, I just wanted to suggest that quarantine could be the perfect time for it. Since everything is being done digitally and remotely, you can work with people from anywhere without having to deal with travel costs. I also wanted to ask if you would be open to having guests on the podcast, since I know Kyle was not keen on the idea of guests. Thanks so much and L&R, Ryan

Hey Jones, Do you think all the fascination with videogame remasters and remakes is making the mainstream videogame scene a bit hollow? I really like seeing a loved game getting refurnished and updated lavishly for modern consoles, but new exciting experiences seem to be taking a backseat to the familiar.

Hi Jones, Since the month of E3 is approaching us with a dozen E3 replacements taking over, how much will the Allies react to these various streams and will you be pulling out the suits at some point? Also have you heard of the small showcase happening called VG Tonight? L&R Kieren

Mr. Jones, As you get more and more used to moderating the podcast, how do you feel about the size of your EZA workload? You have the Island Hop streams, the Community Showcase, the review voice-overs, Cup of Jones, and now the podcast (along with other less-obvious work you do), and I can imagine that all makes for a full work week. This absolutely isn't to make any comment on the other Allies because I know they all work plenty too. I'm just curious if you feel comfortable where you're at personally, as moderating the podcast couldn't have been a small pick-up, and from the outside it seems like you're doing more than you used to. Hey Jones, Over 400k views on the FF7 Remake Spoiler Mode with Max. Highest viewed FF7 Remake spoilers on YouTube! Does this get you thinking to do more Spoiler Modes or any other content with special guests? I know it might just be because it's FF7 Remake but it would be nice to see more. Would be nice to see a reunion with Max for FF7 Remake part 2.

Heya Jones, Oh, I didn't realize. I'm so sorry. It won't happen again. However, if Easy Allies found out that its romantic, anonymous pen pal was actually its workplace rival, how long would it keep that information to itself and not just let her know?
