Resident. E-VIL.

Huber sat us down to play the Resident Evil 2 Board Game!  It was a lot of fun and fairly easy to learn as you play (as long as someone else knows what's going on!)  Find out how we did against the nasties of Raccoon City!

That was really fun to watch. I hope the allies continue the campaign

I'm sure it is difficult designing a board game to feel like a video game, but the general rules and flow of this one felt pretty poorly thought out and broken with the ways players have to game it in a bad way to excel at it, like the silly closing doors for no reason besides not technically ending your turn in a room linked to one with enemies that friends are still in. Even funnier for the description for this post to say it was easy to learn when the episode felt like nonstop asking about rules clarifications such as which way enemies are pushed, when enemies move, how interacting with multiple enemies at once is handled, what direction enemies decide to move in various circumstances, etc. I'm sure some of it is just the Allies playing wrong, which is bound to happen to anyone their first time playing a game, but it also just seems kind of like a semi phoned in adaptation. Plus other stuff like Allies pointing out that there's basically no incentive for red herbs existing when two green herbs is just as effective at restoring, and you'd never get stuck with just a red herb, which feels like poor balancing overall. That said, it was still a really fun time watching this episode, and I can't wait to see how it ramps up in later scenarios, especially when they become timed. PS: With the way Blood kept drawing those bad cards at the end of all his turns, you'd think he was the mole or something ;)

Im not sure if it is because this show was announced as a replacement to Tabletop Escapades but this show just does not jell with me. Most of the show is spent learning rules that will never be used in any future eza content, and it honestly doesn't feel like even the allies are that into it. Very suprising that this is more preferable then playing a game of DnD. I always appreciate the work done here, even if it isn't what I want, so I still wish you success with this show.

I thought it was pretty fun and seemed like a pretty cool adaptation of the game. I'm interested to see what harder scenarios entail.

I mean to be fair constantly clarifying rules is pretty par for the course when it comes to the first time playing a new board game. There is definitely a lot going on but the game seemed pretty fun when it was running smoothly. I'm curious to see how the harder scenarios work out when things are ramped up and they are more accustomed to the flow of the game. Gaming the system weirdly kind of feels like a video game to me haha.

Sadly I'm in the same boat as you. This is the one show on EZA that I just can't get into, even though the premise sounded good on paper. Here's hoping we get some one-off or mini-series DnD or other tabletop games on here. I miss that stuff so much.

Going to have to agree with the comments section. I'd much rather see you guys get into a Tabeltop game and maybe get an episode of that once a month rather than the random board games.

Really enjoyed it! I'm really hoping that you will play the whole campaign mode!!

Such a cool and creative adaptation of the Resident Evil item management and tension elevation. I am looking forward to one day picking up this board game myself and having a blast. Cant wait to see you guys play the other scenarios

A bit late but, I enjoyed this! I only listened in and the first time around it was a bit rough with the back and forth on rules but the 2nd and 3rd listen through was really enjoyable. I had a suggestion for a future Occasional Board Game show: Clank! a 4 player dungeon-crawlin deck builder. It's easy to learn and moments can get tense real fast.
