Correction : Batman Origins is backward compatible on Xbox One Ben, you could play it right now !

Another correction : Microsoft already said their next console is backwards compatible, so there won't be "buy the game twice to get old/next gen" and Sony's Marc Cerny also confirmed PS5 has backward compatibility (source : Wired interview in april 2019)

I might be wrong but I think his point was it wasn't remastered like the others.

Love Ian's silent protest during the final word.

Really great goofy vibe this time. On Link's Awakening.. for me it's the thrill of seeing these characters in more lavish detail than ever before. Hearing thoughtful remixes of classic songs I've loved for ages. Quality of life changes (didn't know how much I needed dedicated sword, shield and pegasus boots buttons.. map markers... etc). And yes--it's brief, but life is busy and full of other games.Plus I'll be revisiting this for years to come.. possibly as my go to way to experience this game from now on out. As a bonus I never got to play it on super gameboy.. so this is the largest I've ever been able to experience this game and I am in HEAVEN.

What'sWhat

Don't know if it's just me, but this podcast was extra cheerful. Loved it.

Correction: OSS stands for Office of Strategic Services, it was the United States intelligence agency during world war 2 and the predecessor to the CIA

This is one thing many people seem to forget. If any Studio do a (Full Price) Remaster from a PS4/Xbox One game that already works on PS5/Xbox Scarlet instead of a patch for the already released version this will be the next mother of all Shitstorms. Sure there will be Remastered games because...money but at least Sony and MS should show good will and patch there own games for free.

Good discussion on the Link's Awakening. I rarely buy full priced games on the initial release, and I can't see making an exception for this one. A $60 game (or $80 Canadian + 13% in tax in my neck of the woods) is something for which I have include in my budget for the month. To use Ian's example of Untitled Goose game, it may be short, but at $25 CDN (on sale for launch at $20 CDN) it would be more likely to be an impulse buy for me. As was pointed out by the panel, there is that 'Nintendo premium', and Nintendo first party releases rarely see digital sales, and I can't think of any examples of permant price drops outside of the 'Nintendo Selects' line. I've noticed in my neck of the woods, that with top-tier Nintendo releases, that the solution seems to be private sales. So rather than Gamestop or ebay, this would be through something like Craigslist, Kijiji, Facebook Marketplace where you're re-selling locally. To use Link's Awakening as the example, within 24 hours of it being released, people who bought it for $89.60 CND after taxes were re-selling physical copies for $60-75 CDN. So the person buying retail is getting the experience for about $15-30 CDN in the end as long as they're not keeping their physical copy, and the people with a bit more patience to buy used can get all their money back when reselling it again. Of course, this applies to any new release, but with other top-tier games, I know there will be decent sales or a price drop withing 3-6 months. With a Zelda title, that's just not going to happen. I suppose the alternative would be to try out a rental service like Gamefly or Gameaccess, but I've never had the inclination to give those a shot, but Link's Awakening might be the one to try. I feel I should mention I still pick up plenty of games digitally for the Switch, including 1st party. Even though the game voucher program they tried earlier in the year, was a bit convolution, it still allowed me to pick up Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and Super Mario Maker 2 at launch for about $140 CDN after taxes, or about $40 less than retail. In those cases though, I knew they were either games I'd sink hundreds of hours into immediately or keep coming back to throughout the life of the Switch.
