Thank you for getting this up before my Friday evening commute home 😁. Loving the corrections back in the right place too! Definitely feels more accessible. I felt the last two weeks the podcast immediately went into quite niche territory whereas corrections lets you start off with a wider variety of short topics which gives a much better introduction of what the podcast is all about to new listeners before going into any deep dive topics!

The Corrections music -__- Why?

I don't usually post Patreon comments, but when I do it's because I really love that the pod is available on a Friday evening (European time). L&R

As a fan of the Total War series I really feel like you guys should try 3 Kingdoms. A lot of speculation on what Troy will be like would explain itself. And you can be as hyped as the dozens of us who play this series.

Loved the deep dive into the ESA's "plans" for e3 2020. Although I don't think most of the pitches will come to fruition, it might be time to either revamp e3 or kill it off in favor of something else.

Sirfetch'd is known as a Galarian Evolution, something new to Sword and Shield. This basically means an evolution to a preexisting line of Pokemon that is exclusive to the Galar Region where Sword and Shield take place. It is more comparable to the brand new evolution of the Generation 3 Pokemon Linoone, that is called Obstagoon, than to Galarian Weezing. Last Generation of Pokemon, known as Generation 7, starting with the games Sun and Moon, introduced Alolan Forms. This was merely alternative forms of preexisting Pokemon exclusive to the Alolan Region. Galar Weezing is much closer to this concept as Weezing already existed as a Pokemon, and the ones in the Galar Region are simply different in this way. The reason Sirfetch'd was glitched out is indeed as Kyle said. They were teasing. The official roleplay reason behind the tease being glitchy as it was is actually listed on the official site under its own page, which I will link below. Basically, an Electric / Ghost type Pokemon known as Rotom is responsible for it. When you tried to click the pixelated Sirfetch'd on the main page of the website during the tease, it would direct you to a loading bar that would make the cry noise of a Rotom. This would've been confusing had Sirfetch'd not leaked way ahead of time through a many times over confirmed source and had the appearance of the pixelated Pokemon being teased not matched up with this information. https://swordshield.pokemon.com/en-us/website-glitch/

The whole segment about the ESA Pitch Deck was excellent. You are all right to hang your heads and cringe when they talk about leveraging the social good angle, but the thing is...it feels like a very standard approach for companies these days. If you work in advertising or marketing of any kind, you will likely see/hear things like what you read being pitched to companies as part of their strategy. Like you all, I find it pathetic and disingenuous; it gives me a palpable feeling that nothing matters because even good deeds have been turned into ways to brainwash people into supporting brands. So as bad as that all sounded, it's sadly become a very common tactic in the business world and the ESA is doing what many others do to try to bring people onboard with their brand. For me, it's a quick reminder that no matter what a company/brand is to you, to them you are (most likely) just a click/like/follower that they've collected or not.

Fantastic episode! Love the Sir Fetched graphic during his section. Fun stuff like that rocks. Also this carpenter vibe! Ben watches the THING for the first time now we're getting some carpenter love on the EZA podcast? SHIT YES. My one sadness... new corrections music no es bueno. You don't have to go back to the old one (tho I do love it), but I just wasn't feelin' the new tune. L&R

Every time you see a business making a donation to some sort of social good / charity movement, you had best believe the potential impact of that donation was calculated and pitched just like this slide deck. "We think a donation of $50K is the minimum amount we need to donate to _____ organization to get the attention of these major media outlets, hit with these specific demographics on these social media channels, and potentially reach two million people. Therefore, it's a good investment." I guarantee you not every marketing person is soulless and cynical, as this deck makes them out to be. It's just that when you are talking to people who absolutely live for maximizing profit, the only way you convince them is with numbers and jargon like this. Don't get me wrong, I agree with you - it's cynical and it's gross... it's just also realistic.

Correction/Clarification about Farfetch’d: the Japanese name is “Kamonegi” which is actually pretty funny wordplay. It’s both the name of a food dish that consists of duck and onions, and part of a longer proverb about a duck that carries onions, or something unexpected, yet convenient. The second part is likely where they got the name “Farfetch’d” but it kind of loses the double meaning in translation. Sirfetch’d’s Japanese name, Negiganaito, is also wordplay, including the “Knight” sound and also meaning “must have an onion”. L&R
