Who could possibly have guessed "Link has to take hormones for 4 years and actually transition into a female" for you to play with a female link... I definitely wasn't ready for that one.

My dream Zelda game you don't play as any of the Triforce wielders. You pick a more normal character among the various races, whatever sex, each with their own racial ability perks and builds, and you witness the entire conflict as it always plays out from a third party perspective in a way that builds the main three up as even more legendary than they're currently seen. Quest chains could lead you to subtly supporting one of the major players, but the world at large would be dangerous, and for most of the game you'd have to flee when stuff starts getting crazy or seek help from guards to save people instead of rushing in yourself. Maybe by the end you could become Champion / Blight or whatever tier capable of clashing with the big underlings of the other factions through lots of Shenmue esque training or even with a small number of others under your command you've built up through some sort of reputation system. You never change the outcome of the conflict however. Link and Zelda always defeat Ganon, but your actions can influence things like what other characters and regions survive the conflict, how badly Link and Zelda are damaged in the fight, how quickly Ganon will be able to revive next time or acquiring some ominous edge he'll have over the heroes next time, etc. So if you went full Ganon support, your ending might make it so bad for Link and Zelda post victory that they pretty much have nothing left to live for and the world is ruined.

Cool show, I would be interested in seeing something similar except Kyle + Pokemon, Jones + GTA, Ben + Persona, ect, ect

Dream Zelda, instead of Link/Linkel being alone all the time - you always have a buddy character with you who follows you around Hyrule. The first would be Zelda herself , but as the game goes along you can meet and recruit new pals which each have different abilities to help. So you might leave Zelda at the castle and bring a Zora pal to the water temple to make that temple easier. When your out with a pal Link and the Pal have conversations like in Dragon Age or Uncharted. There is a hub to visit all the currently unused buddies.

Woah, love the Dark turn. Being able to work against Link & Zelda is so cool. I couldn't see Nintendo allowing it, but they should!
