Hi everyone,

This week I just talked about the deaths of my parents and the grieving process.  It's a candid talk, kind of just through some of my thoughts about it.  I don't know if it will be helpful to watch, but I hope it is.  I filmed this on Wednesday but I will have had my dad's funeral today, on the 1st.

Sorry for your loss. My condolences.

I’ve suspected this was why you’ve been absent, which is why I’ve been sensitive to others demanding answers. We can see the kinds of people they must have been through who you are. L&R

I was afraid something like this was why you were away. My deepest sympathies. You will always miss him but I wish for the hastening of the day when you can remember him with joy in your heart for having had him in your life rather then just the grief. I am so so so sorry.

Much love for you and your family, Ian.

I think Ian had the timing off on the Patreon post due to the time zone difference. I just set the episode live. -Bloodworth

Damn man, this explains the absence recently. For whatever it's worth I'm certain you've got the unconditional support of everyone here.

Ian, I have a lot of respect for you. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Condolences for your loss. I lost both my parents over the last few years and living on the other side of the world to them I had to grapple with a lot of guilt, but I wholeheartedly agree with you about perspective. It was maybe their greatest lesson to me. Again thank you, and sorry for your loss. L&R

Sorry for your loss. It was tough when I lost my parents. They were both sudden. I was working overseas and I didn't get to say goodbye to either of them. Time heals. I still miss them both so much. Please take as much time as you need to heal. L&R

Sorry for your loss, dear Ian. Much Love and Respect in this difficult moment to you and the people that loved your dad.

From the episode of Fiasconaughts that had your dad, Dr. Hink, playing The Burracrator, I loved your Dads personality, What a wonderful Dad you had Ian, and while my total heart goes out to you for the loss, I am glad you had such an amazing person as your father. I will always watch that episode (I rewatch all of them constantly) with Joy and a bit of sadness. Thanks for sharing him with our lives, I feel just a bit better for it. We love you man, do what you need to do and we will be here waiting for you when you are back. Take care of yourself, our loyal and strong ally. LnR4L ~Heidern98

Watched my mother die almost a year ago, and sometimes it still digs hard at me even with an outlook similar to yours. But zero regrets, and I'm glad Ian had the opportunity to see his father off. Thanks for sharing

CubanLinx 1 second ago Love and respect Ian. My dad has cancer right now and I hope you realize that the fact you're going through this grief and choosing to use it in such a positive way can have a real positive affect on other people. I guess what I'm saying is - with respect to what you're saying about seeing the good in an overall negative event - putting out a video like this is the type of gesture that can exponentially turn that negative event into a positive thing. ALSO, this should be in a constitution: "Don't assault someone with your beliefs and make them have to coddle you if they don't believe the same thing." Thank you Ian.

Hey Ian. My dad passed away last summer and I'm still crying over it, it's really hard and I'm not sure if it gets easier but thanks for making something true and genuine. L&R and thanks for making this, his 1 year deathiversary is coming up this month.

Sorry for your loss. I guess all we can really do is to cherish the memories that we have of the ones we've lost. Stay strong! L&R.

When I first was introduced to you years ago Ian, I thought you were a wacky dude whose sense of humor I couldn't understand and I didn't seem to relate to. Over the years I've come to have profound respect for you. You are one of my favorite content creators, immensely talented and a radiantly beautiful human being. I have nothing but love and respect for you and I'm very sorry for your senseless loss. It brings me some small relief to know you're surrounded at every turn by those who love you, as I hope it does for you as well.

L&R Ian. My mother is going through cancer right now, and I don't know how to deal with my situation well because of decisions she has made that has made my life worse. But it's difficult because I really worry about her. Your insight may help me. You're a very inspiring ally.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Thanks for sharing this, Ian. My brother passed away a few years ago and there have been quite a few times when watching the Allies helped me through some very low points. L & R ❤️

Ian, in 2013 my sister fought with my mom and decided to end her life. The 5 years following that my mom has decided to end her grief. I always struggle to tell my friends and family how I felt and for the first time in 6 years you gave me the words I've always thought and just let out a loud, "yep."

Thank you for your bravery in sharing your story, and your thoughts. Growing up I was closer to my grandparents than my own parents. I lost the last 3 of them over 4 years, with Granny going just five months before my wedding last year. You're 100% right: it sucks, it's hard... but it gets easier over time. To anyone else reading, I want to whole-heartedly second what Ian said regarding getting help if you're feeling lost... and even if you don't feel it. A trained mental health professional helped me get through the grief of losing my grandparents much more completely than I would have on my own, and still helps me now. 1 in 4 of us will go through some sort of depression or something similar (although in my high-school pack of 4 friends, all 4 of us ended up in that pool: go figure). Please, get help. It's not a weakness to seek help from a mental health professional any more than it is to seek help from a physiotherapist. Again, thank you Ian for your courage. My deepest condolences to you, your sister, and the rest of your family. L&R

Oh Ian, truly very sorry, I haven't been here in some time and wanted to catch up for E3 and just seen this, this news... sigh... I remember you were riding bicycles together with your dad and sister and that is the first thing that popped in my mind, your dad Ian, was and is so very proud of you Ian.
