Happy Valentine’s Day! We’re back in the garage! I think this episode will sound better, but obviously look worse, than last week’s episode. I’l be piecing the garage back together over the coming weeks and months, digging more of my toys out of storage and returning the space to my own, personal office. Doing this at home is a great convenience to me, as you can imagine, so I appreciate your patience as I figure out exactly how Cup of Jones will look moving forward. Also, it’s raining like crazy outside, so don’t forget your galoshes.

I just gotta Ask Jones, before I forget: Have you watched any of The Orville yet?

Megan Linart

Hey at least the rain is better than the 12 inches of snow we just got -_-

Hey Jones after listening to the huggggge 3 and a half hour Cup you did on the streaming stage I was curious after hearing your 3 favorite horror films I wanted to know if you had seen last years Hereditary which to me felt like a great movie that I will thankfully never watch again due to a mix of the movie being burned into my brain and nerves not being able to handle that racking again. If so what were your thoughts?

Anonymous

You talk about rain, how about we trade? I take the rain and you take the snow? Don't get me wrong... I prefer Winter over Summer (though to be honest, I would prefer Spring/Fall all year round really), but could do with out the snow...

Good to see you, Jones

Good to have the garage back in some capacity and this means Amanda can still burst in if she pleases to :)

I’ve asked some tough questions, from shortcomings of your reviews, to the difficulties of separating from your humanity in order to run a business, and even how hard it can be to differentiate Halo ships from Taylor Swift songs. But this may be the most important question I’ve ever asked… what’s your skin care routine? No sarcasm here; before working as a marketing strategist, I was a women’s hairstylist and beauty consultant. With your perennial comments about baggy eyes and tired appearance, there’s a number of options available that can help alleviate that appearance if it’s of interest, from $5 nightly creams to minor surgical procedures and everything in between. So… how do you wash your face? Moisturizers? Cleansers? Toners? Any hydriodic acid? Eye masks? Or is our Jones au naturale? Adoration and admiration.

Hey Mr. Jones! Last week, while giving an answer regarding Trailer Jones and why providing trailers in full at the beginning wouldn't work well, I wanted to ask: Would it be a good idea to direct people to the forums if people want to see episodes and trailers saved? I know Mr. Bloodworth catalogs every Cup of Jones episode, but personally speaking in regards to Trailer Jones specifically, I curate the Trailer Jones thread by including not only a link to the episode, but also links to each trailer used (following the lower third you use) AND the panel's scores behind spoiler tags if people don't want to watch (for whatever bizarre reason, but hey, giving people the option feels good). While I don't want this to come across as self-promotion, and I figured if there are any other types of questions regarding this, it would be a convenient resource people can take advantage of. Regardless, thanks as always for taking my question and have a wonderful day! Cheers!

Hey Jones! Are you a fan of the band Ween? I remember you mentioned their song 'Bananas and Blow' in a Hall of Greats stream, also saw a mug of the band's mascot, the Boognish, on a desk in another video. Just curious to know some of your favorite songs or albums if you're a fan.

Hello, Jones. I wanted to get your perspective on Disney's live action remakes. I know they've had an inconsistent streak as far as critical reception goes, but I was wondering if you've genuinely enjoyed any of them so far? For me, I LOVED Cinderella from 2015. It added substantial moments and motivations for the characters and it was one of the only Disney remakes that felt like it benefited from being remade. And are there any other animated Disney films that you would like to see remade into live action? Cheers, Jones. I've been a huge fan for many years.

Business question: Hey Jones, long time listener, first time posting. I was watching the Apex Legends group stream the other night and enjoying it, but felt that it was missing something by being limited to only one player's perspective. I understand that the group streaming space isn't set up for multiple game capture streams and this was a bit of a unique multi-console event, but do you think there could be scope for a more formalised setup for this in future? Funhaus often post multiplayer gameplay videos which switch between player perspectives that each have a webcam in the top quarter. I feel as though something like this would be a perfect fit for the Allies especially on games like Apex or Anthem. I recognize that this is a pretty complex and potentially very costly suggestion; but what are your thoughts on the idea of a multiple console/PC livestream setup, possibly with webcams, in which the "hosting" Ally can switch to the most active players on the fly? Love the new studio, Love & respect always, Tom

Greetings Jones! Colin just discussed on his podcast Sacred Symbols that he has been having a hard time getting games early from certain publishers. Do you guys still have trouble? I know at one point Nintendo wasn't sending you stuff early, but what is the process of working with developers to get codes early like?

EasyAllies

We actually had it set up in a way that could have somewhat accommodated that, but it wasn't a perfect implementation. So switching feeds would have introduced a 5 second blank screen each time. We'd need to really think through the right workflow and probably use the switcher to make it work well, but it's something I'd like to try when appropriate. -Bloodworth

Hello Mr. Jones, i'm on board on the downloading the shadow drop games announced during an event, but i'm worried about the internet bandwith and how it will affect the on going stream, do you have a secondary internet connection?

Hi Jones, I'm happy to see that Pro Strats Only is over, but I'd like to talk a bit about why it didn't work as a bit and how you could avoid making the same mistake again. Kyle's bit's are obviously a part of any video he's on, especially if he's producing it. So I think most EZA viewers have gotten used to them, even if the jokes fall flat. The problem with Pro Strats Only was that Kyle asked paying patrons to submit questions for the segment, but then ignored them and forced an obviously scripted segment. Submitting questions is a special privilege of being a patron and looking forward to the podcast to see if my question gets read is a special feeling. I'm not expecting all of my submissions to be read, but it is frustrating to see Kyle ignore everyone's submissions. So going forward, if you guys ask patrons for submissions to any segment, please do something with those submissions. Stupid bits are fine as long as they don't involve ignoring submissions from paying patrons.

Howdy Jones! This is my first ever criticism comment, so bare with me (I promise you I don’t think that this is the end of the world). I think the new studio is awesome, I love the brick, I love the amount of different rooms, and I love all the potential that just radiates after each new show is posted. I get the same feelings of excitement as I did when I found out one of my friends was getting a tree house when I was little, or each time I visited a friend after they got a new apartment (only this is the professional equivalent)! If I had to pick my favorite aspect, however, it would definitely be the video game windows- But that’s also where I hold most of my issues. Now I’m sure this has a lot to do with filming an off-screen tv, but currently they seem to be too dark. Not only that, but I think you can see the black edges of the TVs themselves pretty clearly that aren’t being covered up by the window frames (at the bottom), breaking the immersion a bit more. Immersion is my favorite thing in the world when it comes to media, which is why the windows (to me) are the most exciting addition, but right now it does seem like two TVs on a wall as opposed to cool windows peering out into the world. I also don’t think you need to separate the windows into fourths (you can sometimes even see that the thin wooden separations are casting a shadow on the “sky” since they aren’t attached to the screen), but I don’t know if you guys think it would look more realistic without them. Curtains are totally fine though, in my opinion, they might just need to be ironed a bit! Anyways, that was my criticism, but I hope I did not make it seem like a bigger deal than it actually is. I just wanted to potentially help with, or at least bring attention to, something that I’ve noticed. Regardless if things change or not, the windows are still my favorite thing, so no hard feelings either way lol L&R TAHK0

Business question for you Jones. Last week you mentioned having the ability to review Anthem on PC because you could play it early but you were going to review it on PS4. If we ignore reasons like it was the only copy the publisher sent you how do you decide which platform to review a game on? For example why not PC? You could use any controller you wanted and if you have a good PC it will be the best version of the game. On the opposite side - why not the regular Xbox One? It will most likely be the worst performing of the versions but it would give you the baseline quality of the game.

First time writing in, and I just had a comment. Your fear of cooking just cracks me up. I personally love to cook and love to eat good food, and for me, cooking for people I love feels like a way that I can take care of them. Watching people enjoy food that I prepared is very satisfying and makes me super happy. I also find that it's way cheaper than eating out at restaurants, and allows me to eat more healthily and know what exactly is going into my food. On the other hand, the story about the taquitos last week definitely shows me that you and I just have completely different perspectives on food, because even if I was just feeding myself, soggy taquitos just does not sound appetizing. You do you, Jones, haha.

zed khan :) I Apologize since my last comment was a response not understanding how topics here work, but more a direct response to logos and design that you had mentioned at a previous cup of Jones. I am not a designer. In fact, I am a Canadian physician that moved to America. That is when I learned the harsh truth about design, and business. Marketing is important regardless of and individual’s belief in the cause. It was a slap in the ' doing the ideal thing' face for myself. I sympathize and intimately relate with 9 creators in a world dictated by larger forces. I just wish to point this out as a fellow small business owner that a lot of struggles can be avoided with a brand identity, even if we feel like it should not be important. Funding and perception are key metrics when diversifying a portfolio. Patreon may cease to exist tomorrow, amazon and twitch may change, direct sponsoring may as well, but with a unified brand one can sell themselves independent of any platform. This is primarily the reason why having a consistent identity across all platforms is important. Of course, the decision comes to you guys, but please look into why these "ancillary' design items and identity may be important. You do not need to read this comment in cup of jones. I just wished to clarify as a person that has gone through the struggles of business vs passion. Keep up the fantastic work! Please do not look at this as negative criticism! I completely understand all the reasons you (Brandon) expanded upon outlining the difficulty of the process. These are the nature of a corroborative process among equal partners. p.s. By the way, as a person that has been a long-time viewer and a recent contributor, I greatly appreciated the sarcasm and bits, and playfulness. Please continue to be your awesome selves

I’m curious why you feel Kyle is ignoring submissions? Every fake game, and its fake problem/solutions are ones that are submitted by a Patron, taken directly from the L&R post that goes up each week.

Hi Jones, If you are planning a camping trip with the Allies, may I suggest doing it Red Dead Redemption 2 style? Perhaps have Amanda cook the bear stew that was feature in the game. I have seen a Youtube video that shows how the stew was made by user Binging With Babish.

BUSINESS QUESTION FOLLOW UP Hi again Jones, Thank you for reading my ludicrously long post last week. I just wanted to ask a follow up question regarding logo and branding in general. You have expressed your thoughts on the reaction from fans to the podcast and stream logos, and you have done a great job illustrating how difficult big branding changes would be as a 9 person, equal-input operation. What I wanted to know more about is what YOU think of the EZA logo, but especially wanted your thoughts on the importance of branding to EZA as a business. I think a few people have now expressed that they think this is very important, but I just wanted to hear your take, as it may have gotten lost in discussing how blindsided you were by fan reactions. How important is branding (particularly logo design) in the larger Easy Allies operation? Love and Respect Brod

Brandon - I just finished RDR2 and I finally got to view the EZA Spoiler Mode episode and while I'm still basking in the post-game reverie I was stunned to hear so many comments from fellow allies complaining of the long drawn out story. It's kind of flabbergasting that we wait YEARS to play games like these and when you drink a fine wine aged to perfection or a dry aged Steak we don't rush through the meal, we take our time (preparing a fine meal is a lot like building a chair after all! ;) But I digress. I took my damn time to play RDR2 and I savored each bite and when I realized there was an inevitable end in sight. I took Arthur into the snowy mountains and hunted and camped and sipped on Coffee and pet my horse. My question here is, what's wrong with savoring the flavor and why is everybody in such a damn rush to get through these games? Slow down everybody. (PS - I excuse you, Brandon since you were reviewing the game. Hehe) BTW - One of my favorite things in the game was when Arthur would whistle or sing while riding the countryside.

Can't believe you are taking my Monday morning slot Jones... ;-)

Hey Jones. Hope you have some coffee with you this morning. I have some questions. Nothing dangerous so just take a sip and sit back. I'm not gonna ask you to cook. First one: Now that you have a studio (congratulations!), will there be a chance of some semi group streams happening at earlier times of the day so us Europeans can join in on the fun. I really appreciate the early streams some of the Allies are doing at times, but it would be fun for us Europeans to see as many Allies as possible at the same time on a time of day when we can watch and still get some sleep before our 7,8,9-5 life kicks in again and i know i'm not alone in thinking that. Second: Will the rest of the Nintendo Directs, press conferenses and such be streamed from the streaming room or will you move over to the recording studio in the future? Might have missed if this was adressed. Just wondering. Third: What happend to ”Don't Skip”? Will it ever be a regular thing or is it just ”it happens when it happens”-thing? Fourth and last: I might want to send some games to expand the EZA Game Library some day in the near future. It would be nice to see a list of all the games and consoles you guys have in the library so that we who want's to help you expand it doesn't expand it with duplicates. Love, Respect and cheers(with coffee), Johan.

Amen, preach it. A game taking it's time is not a bad thing by default.

Hey Jones, Spoiler Mode is easily one of my favorite EA segments. I don't have any other friends who really enjoy single player games the way I do, so it's nice to hear others reflect on games in a long form conversation after completion. However, I would love it if the community could participate in some way. What would you think of adding a patreon reward to submit short "Lightning Round" questions to be curated by the Spoiler Mode host and presented before final reflections on the game? Even if it was just fun little superlatives (best character, best weapon, best boss), I would enjoy the illusion of participating. And on a side note, I would love longer Spoiler Modes. Brad did a nice job hosting the KH3 episode, but with five people in the room answering each question it felt like a lot of the game got left untouched in the discussion. I understand there's only so many hours in the day, but it can't hurt to ask, right? L&R Jay

Anonymous

They have had at least one Patreon only post taking questions for the RDR2 Spoiler Mode, I thought there had been a few more for other Spoiler Modes but didn't see them at my cursory glance through patreon.

Happy Monday Jones! Short and extremely trivial thing here, last week you got a comment about not revealing your Trailer Jones score before the others but doing it all together and one solution being to write down the score and then have a reveal. As a former kindergarten teacher let me recommend those kind of mini whiteboard things with erasable markers. They will save you a ton of paper, hassle and cleaning up. Could also be used for the Podcast bets and even though I don't live in the US I can't imagine they cost much more than a dollar. Just a tip, thanks for doing what you do L&R

Hi Jones, I can't believe this is what got me to write my first comment but I promise to do more relevant ones later! Basically I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone in your cooking anxiety. Unfortunately I have to cook for the household because the others I live with are handicapped or strapped for time. Additionally I do enjoy a meal that is well made (though mostly for taste) BUT if I never have to prepare a meal again then I would live a happy life, even at the cost of it all being average. Love, respect and all my empathy.

Hi Brandon. I want to clarify a couple of things about my last week’s post about Red Dead Redemption 2 controls. I’m not against the amount of control that you have. I also have no problems with slow pace of the actions. I understand that this type of game needs a very specific control scheme and I’m not suggesting to copy-paste controls from other games. The problem with Red Dead Redemption 2 controls is that they require conscious effort. Take Left Trigger for example. The fact that you can either talk or threat people depending on whether your gun is out or not is realistic, but it requires player’s attention. You either have to remember if you holstered your gun after the last shootout, or rotate the camera to see if character holds something in his hands. Instead of thinking what to do as a character you have to think how to do it which is never good. Maybe it’s not an issue for you. Maybe you can puppeteering Buttons without thinking how to move your fingers to make him speak. That’s great for you, but that doesn’t mean that this isn't a hard task for someone else. And hard control isn’t a feature that any software needs to have. Sorry if I it sounds like I dismiss your opinion. I’ve just got a habit to evaluate controls and user interfaces scientifically while I worked on my PhD about Human-Computer Interaction.

Hi Jones, I'm new to Cup of Jones but it's great as a narrative to work with. The last couple of weeks I've been listening, you have mentioned how difficult it is to make big decisions on things like design because you need a consensus, and you often mention you will discuss stuff on slack. My question is how often do ALL of the allies meet IN PERSON to make these discussions. I'm talking formal meetings, with itineraries. As someone who has worked remote quite a lot. I know the impact these meetings have and would just like a bit more information on how these sorts of discussions are approached, for your projects (trailer jones, top 10's, etc as well). Also congrats to the allies, Also please pet Sophie for me

Hello Jones! Between your comments about about musical theater last week and your conversation with Ian a few weeks ago about wishing you had the chance to play Jesus, but being stuck playing Pilate (though, I love that part and that's more in my range as well), I can relate a bit. I was a trumpet player at a performing arts magnet school, and I was always stuck in the pit in our school productions and never got a chance to sing on stage. Could you please talk to us a little bit about how you dealt with disappointment or other challenges you experienced with auditions/casting? Might also be a good one for Amanda to chime in on if she's there. Also, I have to ask...can you sing a couple of bars of Gethsemane for us? Maybe try to hit that G5? Jesus Christ Superstar is probably my favorite musical and it'd be a real treat to hear you sing a bit of it. Disregard if you're not comfortable with it, but I can't let the opportunity to ask slip by! Thanks, Jon

No question, just a comment. I can only speak for myself, but a channel’s logo has never once made me click on a video, or sub to a channel. Similarly, while “better” thumbnails might possibly bring a few extra clicks in the first place, it’s the quality of the content that’s going to result in more subs/patrons. If you guys had all the time and resources in the world, then sure, you should be getting on that stuff, but you don’t, and so I think you’re right to focus on the content first, as that’s always going to be a better use of both imo. I think it’s fine if the other changes/improvements roll out over time, as I really see those things as niceties, rather than necessities anyway.

You dont need to read this live on CUJ: This show has become people either giving a complaint or have suggestions on how to change things lol. Mayhaps I should think of a complaint to fit in. Im just kidding of course, I guess with more eyeballs on EZA it will lead to thousands of different opinions on what they want out of EZA.

Hey there Jones just wanted to write in after listening in on this Cup O Jones & just wanted to say that while I do understand & appreciate wanting to have your spot / chair be a rotating one on the Easy Allies Podcast I would VERY much not want this to take place... I love to hear all of your tidbits & input on all of the video game news each & every week & honestly you are one of the main reasons I do NOT miss a single podcast! So while it seems like maybe you are very open to not being on some episodes of it just wanted to let you know you brought me in as an Easy Allies Patreon producer & I want as much content & input from you as possible, my main two listens every single week are Cup Of Jones & the Easy Allies Podcast because you are on both of those shows! Also would say the more meshing of Easy Allies with Kinda Funny / What's Good Games / Red Dead Radio & your appearances on these Kinda Funny was where I discovered you & loved your opinions & input instantly heading me over to pledging to become a part of this amazing community! Just my two cents! Love the studio & a big congrats to you & the Allies!!

MaxVSTheGames

I really liked the idea of an EZA Olympics events with the allies competing against other game journalist groups. Who do you think would be in for such an event? I know you worked with the Screw Attack guys before and you seem close to Kinda Funny. I bet you could get Funhaus to join too thanks to Elyse. You could probably get some special guests too like Keighly or some other popular game journalist/streamer/youtuber. It would be great to have mutliple categories like the real olympics. You could have Fighting games, some Sports/Racing games, some Puzzle game like Tetris, some shooter like Golden Eye and action games like Towerfall and Nidhogg. You could even go the E-Sport way and get some of League of Legends or Starcraft too! This could be an annual event, or you could go the other way and make it similar to a show like the Internet All-Stars Challenge that Screw Attack did a while back (and on which Bosman and you participated if I recall, right?). Please make it happen somehow! It might be a bit hard to pull, but it would totally be worth it. It would be incredibly fun and would be HUGE for you since you would probably attract tons of new patrons that are following those other channels.

What are your thoughts on Disneys The Black Cauldron? I really feel like if they want to do these live action remakes, the black cauldron would benefit greatly as I believe the original film has a lot of problems, but would love your take on the orginal.

Jones I also suffer from General Anxiety Disorder & while it does not derive from cooking or preparing food in any way as my amazing wife handles that whole aspect of things much like yours takes care of the cooking for you as well! She is a blessing in that aspect & I always appreciate each & every meal, but yes I one hundred percent backup that just adding in preparing & making food for myself beyond Ramen / Mac N Cheese / Sandwiches etc. would just add onto my anxiety, but very relieved I just do not have to concern myself with that & if my wife isn't around or not cooking that evening we just eat out or get something delivered & move on.. NEVER feel bad about not wanting to prep food or cook! I am right there in the same boat!!!

Hey Jones, I have a suggestion to improve the visual quality of your podcast shows (the main podcast, frame trap, friend code, and any other I'm forgetting). Now that you have a studio, What if you for every section of the podcast, you had a different bottom- third pop up on screen with a headline that explains the topic you're on. And if you were specifically talking about a game, maybe Ian can play footage from that game as B-Roll while the rest of you talk. (The B-Roll doesn't have to be recorded footage, it could just be from YouTube maybe?) I watch other video podcasts like "Collider Movie Talk" and they do things like I just explained. Don't have to copy one-for-one, but just an idea . Hope my suggestion can get at least get considered. Thanks!

Hey Jones, all the hate on PSO is crazy. I believe that was the most Kyle bit I have ever heard and found it hilarious. I couldn't help but crack up every time I heard it. I'm sorry some people can't take a joke. The way it played out was perfect. At the same time, I am glad it is over! No question, just an opinion.

Hi Jones, how can you be so cool? (mandatory question to make you read this on air) I love all the Allies, but you're the only one who keeps surprising me again and again: when I think "he's going to lose it this time" you actually come through with a very level headed and intelligent take. The way you addressed "that" question about Sophie on the show, the way you accept even the worst criticism with a smile on your face every week and work on how to improve what you guys do, the way you talk about love and respect as a constant process, your positive and proactive attitude in general and how you so openly accepted to share so much of your life with us, more than any other member of the group. I have the uttermost respect for you. By the way, I hate cooking too. - Alessandro

Hey Jones, I was thinking recently about the success of outlets similar to EZA which have a sort of "gaming super star" driving their content. Jeff Gerstmann at GiantBomb and Greg Miller at Kinda Funny come to mind. If you'll excuse a couple of sports analogies, the Patriots would not be who they are without Tom Brady, and LeBron James is the absolute commander of any team he's on. Those teams are obviously better off with them and it draws in a crowd. I say all this because I also see you, Jones, in that same light for EZA. Do you consider yourself a leader in that way and do you try to leverage that status? People obviously know you as the voice of Game Trailers if nothing else. Do you think there is something valuable to having that "frontman" the way GB and KF do?

Anonymous

If EZA were to mount a production of Les Miserables, who would play which character?

Anonymous

Hi Jonesy! First thing: congrats on everything! The new studio looks fan-tas-tic! So, I've only got a quick suggestion, and if it's been discussed already feel free to leave this one out. On Valentine's Day my girlfriend and I ended up watching Ian and Sofia's stream (and enjoying it immensely). My girlfriend mentioned that for these smaller group streams, especially if it's just 1-2 Allies, it'd be nice if the camera could be framed tighter on them. I agreed and told her I'd mention it to you. It might be something that's more trouble than it's worth, but I figured I'd bring it up. Keep on tranglin', Mayor McFrumples

Mr. Jones! Who edited the Top 10 Composers video? That was fantastic work!

Tried to edit my comment and it got deleted. Rip me. Probly for the best anyways. Hers the jist: The community as seen the wonder that is the blue background on the red and white podcast logo, and there’s no going back. What was intended as extra credit is now the new standard. So what do? You’ve got 9 allies to appease, brand recognition to maintain, and a community who has left the cave and refuses to turn back. Consider me this. Do a very simple redesign of the current logo. Don’t slant it. Keep the bold letters. Maybe round a few corners of the letters for jollyness, or give white letters a red border and red letters a white border. Stick in that shade of blue in the background. The black is stale now. With this, you’re more likely to get 9 allies to agree, and quickly. You’ll appease a now restless community. You’ll look more appealing to the outsider who stumbles across your reviews. You’re gonna need to change business cards and...other stuff! But Kyle and Damiani and Ben unleashed a beast. The new logos, meant as a special treat, awoke in people a desire they never even knew they had. Turned stale a once iconic logo. Something must be done. So why not do it my way! Me me me! Okay but seriously do it at your own pace. Whatever you decide on, it’ll turn out great. You guys have an air of destiny about you. I just have feelings on the old logo I never knew I had. The new ones awoke them in me, and I had to let them out. Much love and respect y’all.

Anonymous

By the way when I say blue background I mean whatever dark bluish color is on the eza podcast. Also want to add that there’s a lot of talk about making all the logos the same across the board. I think that’s boring, but I do have a desire to see the eza podcast logo line up with the official logo again, because it just makes sense idk

I really like the black cauldron! And I discovered since then that it's only the first of a serie of novels, so they could definitey make more movies (or a tv serie)!

Hello Jones, a quick idea: I used to watch the YouTube channel VAT19. In their filming space, they had a wall in the background, which they decorated with all the drawn fanart that was send to them. Then once a year, they removed it all, an started fresh. I think this could be a neat idea for the streaming space background. This way, the background is always evolving, has the community present in the studio, and those who want change always can look out for the next reset, when everything is removed. Of course I would not want the complete wall to be covered, as it is a nice wall to look at, but if you could find a designated area on it for this purpose, this could work. Graphical Designer here. Sorry if this is harsh but you say you understand the rebrand problem but you clearly dont and dont seem to intend to give it any priority anytime soon. The work is already done, the new podcast/stream logos are great and the community clearly loves them, feels like you’re making it harder than it is. You NEED to do something about it before E3.

Anonymous

Jones, I was wondering about something. Is it easier to review a game that you love or a game that completely disappoints you. What I mean is, is it harder finding the few good things about a game that you really dislike. That or is it more challenging to find the flaws in a game that you completely adore. Plus, is it difficult to find the balance of flaws and good aspects of a game in both cases?

Any plans to add a patreon tier between the 1$ and 5$ tier? If only half of the 1$ patrons upped their pledge to 2$ the gameshow goal would almost be reached. (Assuming most 1$ patrons do in fact only donate 1$, I am aware you can decide to donate a custom amount)

Hello! I can’t stand the sound of my voice! Anytime I’ve had to listen to a recording of myself, I’ve fled or threw the phone away. Since so much of your work has revolved around your voice, did you ever have a period where you felt uncomfortable knowing the voice you hear when you speak isn’t the same as what others hear? If so, how can I become more comfortable with listening to myself? Please and thank you!

Mr. Jones How deeply does your brand loyalty to certain series run? I am at a point where I feel okay walking away from things that are crass, objectionable, or clash with my tastes. I am not bitter or resentful but sometimes I just have to say "this isn't for me". This can be hard to do sometimes with a beloved series or franchise but have found it to be for the best. Some examples are the original Manhunt- too graphic, Metal Gear Solid series- lost its direction, Telltale's The Walking Dead- too much of the same thing over and over, and Sports, fighting and Racing Games- not enough innovation in the genres. If something comes along that piques my interest I may give things another try but for now it doesn't bug me to do without it. Have you had to walk away from anything worth noting and where did you draw the line? Have you ever been turned off of a game or show because of personal beliefs, or objectionable content? What is the best way to respond in these situations? Respectfully, Morgan Mohalla

inside Gaming is back! What are your personal thoughts and how do you think this affects the video game journalist/influencer landscape?

Hi Jones, I know little time passed from acquiring the studio, but I'm curios if there have been any impact in your «long time thought/dresm» to -in a far away future - move away from content creation at a personal level and take a full «management role» behind the curtains. Do the fact that the studio is now a workplace that will have desks, office space etc.. and not in your home think more in one direction or other? (I will like you to be in all show/stream for ever if it was for me) L&R

Serious question...If you had to spend an entire day with feet hands (as in your hands are now feet)...or 3 days with hand feet (as in your feet are now hands)...which would you choose? Lol! You don't have to include that in this week's show (o^▽^o) I just thought I'd try to get a chuckle out of you while you sorted through these. Love you Jones, thank you so much for putting a smile on our faces every week. L&R ♡♡♡

Hey Jones. I took a look at Graphtreon and it seems like you’ve gained over 3000 patrons since your last anniversary. Especially RE2 and Kingdom Hearts Spoiler Mode promos have done their job. Congratulations. But here’s my question. About 85% of your patrons are at 1 dollar and 5 dollar level. How do you view your bottom four Patreon tiers? Do you feel that you’re offering enough incentives for people to “move up the ladder”? Do you have any plan to add any rewards to the 10 dollar tier, for example?

Hey Jones! This past Friday, Bosman streamed Tetris 99, and viewership was shocking at over 1,000 at one point. Normally about 300 of us tune in for the Friday stream but this got big. Do you think it's due to the newness of the game or did the teaser posted on social media drive more people to watch? Are there plans to beef up your social media presence with the new studio?

Personal Question. Aside from video games and movies, what other forms of entertainment do you personally enjoy ? TV shows ? Can we get a top 5 or 10 list of Jones’ favorite tv shows ? do you have a guilty pleasure show that you can’t stop watching ? Sorry for the rapid questions but I’m interested to know. PS - please bring the Jazz music back to COJ, at least set it as a Patreon goal and we will make it happen one day. L&R

Hi Brandon, I did not want to bring this up because you had to cover so many other questions before BUT how sad are you that you missed the entire Dreams beta because of the studio move? Or did you? I would have loved to get your impressions on it or to see what you came up with and tried to build. Anyway the release doesn’t seem that far away. Keep your eyes open on the 20th of February. I hope you will find enough time with the release because Dreams is a beast.

I just got my first TETRIS ROYALE while listening to the dulcet tones of your silky smooth voice, Jones. Love and Respect <3.

If you want, you have the power to make Animal Crossing Switch get shadow dropped at E3 instead of it being released when it is otherwise going to be released. The game will be the same quality wise. The catch? Yoshi’s Crafted World is scrapped and never comes out. Do you make this happen?

Hi Brandon, thank you for replying to my cooking comment. I have always appreciated your honesty and I am sorry I wasn't sensitive to your anxiety of cooking. I have claustrophobia and when smugly people try to give me advice, it does strikes a cord. So, I get it. Anyhoo, I am curious on what some of your pet peeves are when it comes to the community. Are there certain things that you see that you wish we would stop doing?

(No need to read this live) Response to last episode of Cup of Jones about it taking more than 5 minutes to copy and paste all the questions from a Q&amp;A: Yeah I tried and couldn't do it in 5 minutes, BUT I found an even faster way to get all the Q&amp;A questions randomized in less than 4 (four) minutes. Copy just the Patreon user name for each question and paste them line by line in notepad (copy, paste, enter, repeat). Then when you have all the names, copy and paste them into <a href="https://www.random.org/lists/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.random.org/lists/</a> - click the randomize button and you have your question order. During the Q&amp;A Ben would have to copy the first name from the list, go to the Patreon post and Ctrl+F that name to find that question which only takes a couple seconds. The last name used would stay highlighted so it would be easy to stay on track. Not saying you should do it this way, just that it is possible to do randomization quickly and easily!

Personal Question Hi Brandon, You’ve mentioned afew times on several shows the last few months, that you have moved almost exclusively to digital purchases when it come to games (other than collectors editions etc) and wondered if that was more of business or personal decision by yourself? You spoken about getting codes for games, and also just wanted to save space in the house before your garage emptied out to the studio, so can see why you moved away from physical media, but I had this discussion with a friend of mine relating to Switch games, and made me realise the main reason I haven’t gone fully digital myself, and that’s the price. I have this little ongoing joke with myself, that when a game goes gold, the game is literally put on a golden flash drive, and delivered to either the digital distributor (Sony, Valve etc) or a disc printer. On the digital side, they plug it into their servers and it’s done. On the printed side, millions of discs, cases, cases sleeves, printed inserts, and sometimes those little stickers with the CD Key are produced; shrink wrapped, and shipped out to retailers, to then either end up on store shelves, or shipped again to people’s homes by Amazon. What gets me about this is why does the digital route (in the UK atleast) cost more than that entire physical process?! As an example, I have yet to play Spider-Man. I left it too late after release, and figured there would be a game of the year edition at some point, or would just go so cheap id be dumb not to just buy it anyway. As of my typing, Game (the UK Gamestop equivalent) has it for £47.99; Amazon UK has it for £39, but on the UK PSN it’s £54.99. I’m lucky enough to have the disposable income to buy it any of those price points, but why would I spend £7 more than the worst deal available, for a digital version tied to my account, when I could buy a box copy that I could share with my brother, or trade in, or even just use the disc as a Frisbee if I’m done with it! Know it’s not a huge deal, and I do usually go for digital versions games when its not a AAA title, but its so hard for me to understand the price point for what is afew Gigs of data and a download on a digital service, compared to how much work must go into producing a physical game, and its really put me off buying everything digitally. So glad you guys have got the studio, and looking forward to everything you guys do in the future L&amp;R. Andrew ‘Stormtamer’ Morris

Hey Jones, will you preorder Yoshi's Crafted World?

Hi Jones, I wanted to ask about future guests. What type of guests are a higher priority for EZA as a whole, for example, is it more important to get developers in to show off their games, or other journalists/personalities to be guests on the various shows? Also it might be a good idea to throw a tweet/patreon post out there, asking the community about the guests that they'd want, this could reveal some potential blind spots and guests that you previously didn't have in mind.

Anonymous

Hello Jones! Out of curiosity, does EZA have the technical capabilities to stream generation 1 and 2 consoles? And for a frame of reference, the Nintendo Entertainment System is a generation 3 console.

Hey Brandon. I’ve recently been thinking about your move into the Studio and what it means for the future of Easy Allies. Since Kinda Funny has given roadmaps about the future of their operation before, It felt weird that you guys wouldn’t have planned one in advance. With that said, could you potentially give us a roadmap in mind that you can share with patrons? The fact that you guys have been in the studio for almost 3 weeks now and still haven’t given us a near-future roadmap of what you want to do with EZA despite having a Studio is disappointing, given the freedom you now have.

With Pro Strats Only Please going away, I'm curious what you actually thought of the segment. I enjoyed how it evolved into a bit with you acting like a know it all, and everyone subsequently agreeing with you, but I see how it got stale over time. Do you think the possibility of short term segments that come and go every few weeks is a good option, or do you prefer long term segments?

Anonymous

Hi, Brandon. This isn't a question, so no need to read it, it's just a message to you, but it's something I've felt for some time now and I just have to tell you. Sometimes when you guys are discussing a topic and you guys collectivelly are wrong, but are very passionate about it, depending on the subject, I get really mad with you guys. Such a case was the discussion about Review Bombing in The EZA Podcast, there was a point in that conversation that I just had to stop watching and breath in some fresh air, because I tell you, I felt like strangling you guys. The corrections and humility in accepting what you guys didn't understand in later episodes really struck a cord with me. Because that's one of the things I most love about you guys. This has happened once before with the Diablo mobile game debacle, but in that case you guys didn't say anything wrong, however the way the conversation started made me go: They're not getting this wrong like a lot of other journalists are, are they? So I stopped and later when I got back to listening, I was overjoyed. Yes, that's the correct word to describe the feeling. Because it showed that you guys understood what the problem was, something Blizzard themselves and many journalists didn't. Those are great moments for me, because when I think of the best qualities of EZA, those are among the top ones. It's an honor to have the opportunity to support you lovely people. I know what you're thinking: Is he saying that it's an honor to give us money? Yes! Because that's an option we have to support you guys so you keep doing what you do. If we didn't have that option, we wouldn't be able to watch and interact with you guys. I'm sure you and most people would jump at the chance to pay money if it meant something would be made, if the alternative was it would never exist. And we rarely get that choice. Thanks for all that you jolly folk do. L &amp; R

I'm headed to Disneyworld in a month, and have been trying to watch every Walt Disney Animated Studios movie in order. Do you have any underrated favorites? Mr. Toad was really good!

I want to second this, keep the current logo its great, dont put time and money into a redesign of something that is great as is

Hi Brandon, I was pointed towards the Easy Allies in August of last year, and in November decided to become a Patron. Given I've only been enjoying the weekly cup since then, please forgive the potential ignorance of my question. Last week there were a number of questions concerning Trailer Jones, it got me wondering, why don't the Easy Allies host game trailers on their Youtube channel, similar to other networks like IGN? I used to visit GT to watch game trailers all the time, before Youtube really took over for everything, and I can't help but think that hosting tailers could increase traffic to the EZA Youtube page and in turn to Patreon. I'm also pretty ignorant of copyright law, so if that's a dumb question, sorry. Love the new studio by the way. L&amp;R Wergiforce

Hello Jones! Have you or the other allies thought about getting a 2nd internet connection for the studio? Doing this would allow one connection to handle streaming and the other to handle online gaming, this way a single connection doesn't have to do both. I've seen a few other streamers do this with great success. Of course, I realize this could be expensive and not in the budget, but it's just a thought to help keep everything running smoothly for streams.
