Battle Royale is basically a war film that deals with societal problems and how society copes. You can kind of say it's an initial blueprint for The Purge but does a much better job of humanizing its characters so when you see kids killing each other, it's a shock.

Think the early Sam Raimi and Peter Jackson films are good comedy horrors. They are also very gory but the gore isn't disturbing really. It's over the top and cartoonish enough to not ruin the comedy. But they still have horror elements that do work. Where as Shaun of the dead is a Comedy about Zombies and never really makes you uncomfortable about there being zombies. You're fine with it because it gives them jokes to make. So there a difference between Horror and Horror Themed because one could get under your skin if done well enough and the other is a Halloween party. There's the thrill of testing ourselves with the former and the appreciation for the aesthetic with the later. The Meta horror films also seem to put them into the aesthetic pile because we are having so much fun with the meta that the horror doesn't matter most of the time. There's nothing horrific about knowing how horror films work.

Probably my favourite episode so far. Horror movies and a fantastic guest.

Please bring Sofia back again in the future! She was a great balance to the dynamic! On the topic of movie theater experiences, I actually had a pretty bad one for Bladerunner 2049. Not bad enough to ruin my enjoyment and certainly not the worst I've ever had, but noteworthy enough. Early morning show, crowd on the much older side, which is usually not a bad thing. The guy next to me had put on entirely too much cologne which I would get hit with in waves throughout the movie. He also kept snort laughing at EVERYTHING. Stuff that wasn't even remotely funny. During 15 minutes of the movie he had to have done it every 30 seconds. His wife's phone kept going off and when he said something to her she got offended and claimed it was off. The subtitles on the film were fairly small, even on the big screen, so there was another couple in the theater and one of them couldn't read the subtitles, so every time they came up the one who could read them would do so, aloud, to their partner. People also kept switching seats! The couple on the end of our isle moved back a row and then back to their original seats and a couple in front of us got up and seemingly left 5 minutes into the movie. It was a bizarre experience to say the least. To top it off, when the movie finished the person behind me said "Well that was the stupidest shit I've ever seen." and everyone is entitled to their own opinion but yikes. In a similar vein, I actually had a weird experience with Insidious 3! I went with some friends and wasn't particularly invested in the series, so it was a low stakes movie to see on opening night. Like Huber said, opening night with horror movies can be a lot of fun for the crowd energy! The person sitting in front of me SHRIEKED anytime something scary happened and he started during the PREVIEWS! It was so over the top it was comical but it was so loud and shrill that it became it's own jump scare experience, my body would tense up not at the scare but at knowing HE would scream at the impending jump scare. Also, hell yes Pagemaster. That was one of my defining childhood movies.

Suggestion: If they'd fit into relevant episode, it'd be cool to see some of Huber's friends as well as guests on the podcast.

Unrelated to mockumentaries, but check out this 5 minute mini/short for a music video. The Russian song is so-so (its about traveling and social media), but the video that accompanies is a better 5 minute movie, than some full feature films. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sl_pxCAcJz4
