I have only rarely attempted to shoot at night in a pool. All the attempts have had mixed results - usually I end up with a a lot of blurry or blown out shots because the lens can find the subject in the dark (I have yet to properly do a night shoot with external lighting pointing into the pool - hopefully this summer), and I end up with a lot of wonky images and get frustrated and put off the idea of shooting at night anymore.
Lately though I have been revisiting those wonky old images (if you follow my instagram, you have seen some from another shoot recently), and re-editing them now, 5 years on, armed with a better understanding of imaging software and RAW image files. I can't make them great images, but I can at least have fun approaching those old mistakes with a fresh eye. Sometimes I come up with a new treatment for an entire set that gives it some character i didn't see in the images previously.
A lot of the images in this upcoming set (I will probably post a portion for the $5 and $10 tiers in the next few days) are pretty abstract, but combine with the sharper images to paint this hazy sequence which, I think, is perfect for a hazy memory of skinny dipping at night with a friend I have since lost contact with...
