Remember that Colleen lived her life as a straight woman. She had boyfriends, was a prostitutr and madame, all in the straight world. Sure, she slept with women, but only when she was drunk. Lydia was pretty much in that situation, too. Maybe she sees herself as heterosexual or bi, but someone who is socially or romantically attracted to women. Or, maybe she's just in big time denial.

True. She could've left off the derogatory word and simply said, "Bunch of busybodies." Lydia might have still gotten upset but it wouldn't have been because of that one word.

I am still confused to this day why in our culture nudity/sex/sexual imagery is treated as a taboo or publicly shunned but violent imagery/simulated violence is given a pass or what I would call more “mainstream”.
