We left DeviantArt because they fully embraced AI technology and made it very difficult for users to opt out of the scraping of their artwork on DA. That was an obvious and easy decision to make to dump that as a gallery to showcase our teasers.

However, things are getting worse at FurAffinity, our other location for gallery hosting. Right now it looks like no one is at the helm. Multiple reports of trouble tickets being unanswered months after they were made, no way to contact staff, and the Discord gets people banned for asking about problems at the main website.

Well, an artist named KanjoJolteon on FurAffinity is a serial tracer. Many of the pieces of art in his gallery have either a low quality art style, or a very good or highly detailed style to them. And these quality parts are most definitely traced elements.

I reported this user using one of our comic's panels as a base to a panel in his comic, and so far FurAffinity has not replied to the trouble ticket. The user seems unbothered that he blatantly copied from our comic and has not apologized for it nor given credit to the artist or the group.

The last panel here:

Is clearly using this panel from our comic:

You can see throughout his gallery where likely he has traced because the art suddenly looks good, but in other parts, it looks dreadfully bad.

That's a sign that someone is copying/tracing other people's art. If you recognize art of another artist's work there, please contact that artist and let them know that their work was traced without credit.

So we're trying to find a new host to place our teasers, since FurAffinity is going downhill real fast. There are tweets even of people buying ads there and not getting any information or follow up over a week after paying for their ad about when it will start running, when the site indicates they'll reply within three days.

Weasyl's next on our list. But the number of image hosting sites friendly to furry/transformation art, allows adult content, and bans AI artwork/scraping, is extremely small these days. Add to it a site whose administration is easy to contact and work with, and that list is tiny.

I'm friends with KanjoJolteon and I can't believe he'd do this... but I can see the resemblance.

I contacted him first about the fact that he used it, and requested that he credit the artist, the title of the comic and our project, and make a journal apologizing for using it without credit. I got a dismissive note back saying he'd take care of it after work, and that was days ago. Sorry, looking through his account, it's obvious that when things look good, he's using something as a base. And many of his car models come from the Need for Speed games.

I would assume that putting out teasers in the first place is to attract traffic to your work, and if so, the top priority is to go where the most eyeballs are. Top is probably still DA, then FA, and after that doesn't community size fall off a cliff? Technology to block AI crawlers is going to be increasingly difficult to maintain. likely the only effective strategy currently available against them would be to paywall the whole site and this would be counter-intuitive, especially for teaser content.
