WHY I WAS NOT ASSISTING (Patreon)
Content
Having moved to Berlin a year after starting my journey in photography, I realized that my technical skills at that time were not impressive. I barely knew how to work with cameras, let alone studio lighting, so finding paid assistant work with professional photographers seemed highly unlikely.
Nevertheless, even if I had the opportunity, I think I would have been greatly interested in working as an assistant. In a way, it was driven by my ego. I felt the need to carve my own path, organize new shoots, start working in a team, and learn and relearn through these experiences.
It was important to continue experimenting with different techniques, exploring new approaches to lighting, and taking my work to the next level by collaborating with professional models. Building new connections within the industry was also crucial for growth.
