Happy Holidays, everyone! It's that wonderful time of year and we want to add a touch of that London charm to your end-of-the-year.

If you thought our last update was all we had, you're in for a treat! We've been busy working on lots of new stuff, including features you never knew you wanted and lighting up the world like never before. We can't wait to hear what you think!

I won't give away everything just yet, but the section titles coming up are probably already doing the spoiling for me... So, let's not wait any longer and see what we've prepared for you.

🎊 Seasonal Events

You may recall the addition of the visually captivating seasons and a touch of whimsical weather from our previous update. This time, we've decided to weave even more magic into the fabric of these delightful seasons with our new Seasonal Events! And guess what? The very first one is the utterly charming "Festival of Eggs," heralding the arrival of spring, starting on the 16th of this season.

These enchanting events will paint the town in their unique themes, making sure you never miss a moment of the festivities! The whole town will be swept up in the joy, but for the full experience, we invite you to explore the charming new area nestled next to D&Y – The Fair!

Once there, you'll find a treasure trove of fresh activities to dive into. Wander among the vibrant stalls that have popped up, showcasing all sorts of delightful wares crafted just for the event. From whimsical novelties to delectable treats, you'll discover a world of wonders to explore. And the atmosphere? Well, it's positively brimming with heartwarming vibes, creating an aura of pure delight that'll leave you feeling as snug as a bug in a rug. So, put on your cosiest attire and join us in this celebration of the season’s magic!

💡 Lights

We've given a much-needed makeover to a core system that tends to hide in the shadows (pun intended). Now, as you wander through the enchanting night or even within the snug corners of your very own home, you'll be greeted by a lighting experience that's both strikingly noticeable and incredibly true to life. These new lights aren't just practical; they're here to sprinkle your indoor experiences with a touch of pure enchantment.

But wait, there's more! This dazzling update isn't limited to a select few lights – it blankets every light source in the game. Those lights that once faded into the background or lacked a certain charm? Well, they've now transformed into a cascade of radiance, casting a warm and inviting glow wherever your adventures take you. So, whether you're embarking on pleasant walks or simply enjoying the comforts of your home, let this newfound illumination make it just a tad bit better than before.

🗣 Basic Dialogue

Finally, after a long wait, the first steps towards adding one of your most requested features have commenced. Now, before you get too carried away with excitement, we must confess that it's still in its early, rudimentary stages. However, rest assured, we're on a steady journey towards the next chapters of this adventure. So, what exactly does this initial dialogue entail?

Our beloved librarian, a character close to your hearts, now has a name and a face to match her enchanting personality – Chloe Quill.

Chloe, the friendly face of our library, has evolved to offer you more than just the essentials for your subscription needs. When you visit her cosy corner, she'll greet you with a warm smile and engage in meaningful conversations. No longer just a transactional interaction, Chloe will be your guide to everything book & library-related, giving you helpful tips on all the activities available in the vicinity

As mentioned earlier, this is just the start, a foundation for what's to come. Chloe will offer more help, and new characters will join our world. We'll explore friendships, connections, and romance in the future, making your experiences even more heartwarming. Stay tuned for more adventures ahead!

🎒 Backpacks

Dear dedicated gym-goers, we've got fantastic news for all your hard work and newfound strength – it's about to pay off in a super adorable way! Say hello to the Backpack Upgrade! Up until now, we know that your trusty inventory has felt a tad snug, making those exploration trips a bit tricky. With this nifty upgrade, your backpack will transform into a bottomless treasure chest, offering you the space you've always dreamed of!

You can roam our enchanting world for even longer, collecting precious items, and interacting with anything you stumble upon, without having to dash back home, the museum, or the recycling bin every few moments.

Head over to Banana21, where you can not only purchase the backpack upgrade but also enhance it up to three times! And here's the cherry on top: reaching the highest upgrade will practically double your inventory space!

👽 Random Events

Last but not least – we're adding some spontaneity to your experience! Say hello to Random Events! 🎉

Imagine this: as you go about your day, every now and then, something surprising might happen. These events can be good or bad, and you won't know what's coming until it does!

New

Seasonal Events

We’ve implemented the first iteration of Seasonal Events, named Festival of Eggs, with a brand new location on the map to boot: The Fair!

• The Festival of Eggs event starts on the 16th of Spring, symbolized by the transition screen that occurs at midnight, and is located mainly at the Fair location. The event lasts for 6 in-game days in total.
• A unique quest is activated, which comes with a unique reward when completed. Make sure to complete each task to gain the reward.
• The event features unique clothes, accessories, and furniture which can be found at the Fair stalls. Make sure to nab them as they are only purchasable during the event.
• Enjoy the change of aesthetics around the town as it gets decorated for the duration of the event.

Backpacks

We have added an upgrade for the inventory, which can now also be minimized!

• Stroll on down to Banana21 and interact with the clerk to choose the “Upgrade Backpack” option.
• The first upgrade will extend your inventory into another tab with 4 slots.
• Each upgrade afterwards will unlock an additional 4 slots, for a maximum of 12 new slots!

Lights

We have entirely revamped the lights in the game, to get more of a cosy vibe from the lighting.

• All lights have been replaced.
• Day shadows have been included for lamp-posts and other objects around the world.
• Smooth transition from day to night, and vice versa.
• Ambiental lights have been added to shop signs, vending machines, and display mannequins.

Random Events

You are now at the mercy of the Universe with our newest feature: Random events. These are small occurrences, lucky and unlucky, that can happen to your simmie throughout the day, randomly!

• Get stricken by a stroke of luck, or misfortune, at any point of the day!
• Random events can occur at any point, but a maximum of two times per day.
• Each time a random event occurs, the character stops and performs a small animation. You will always receive a notification letting you know what happened.

Dialogue with Cashiers.

We’ve begun implementing dialogue in the game, and we’re starting with our first NPC: Chloe Quill from the library.

• Visit the library and interact with the clerk to “Talk”.
• Choosing the “Subscriptions” option will allow you to view the library subscriptions, as normal.
• Choosing the “Ask” option will allow you to some questions about the most useful and interesting aspects of the library.
• Choosing the “Leave” option will exit the dialogue.

Changes

Character Creation Changes

We’ve included some polish on the character creation process:

• The background has been animated.
• Randomise and Colour buttons are now uniform and located on the right side.
• Randomise will prompt a confirmation, just so you don’t accidentally lose your character’s looks.
• The shortcuts panel has been temporarily removed to be reworked and include controller support.
• We’ve added more clothes, faces, eyes, and mouths to the basic selection on CC.

Career Tasks

• More career tasks have been added to the list, as well as the ability to level up higher in the Career.
• The UI has been re-done with more information now available about your career level, under the “Career Information” section.
• Additionally, you can now also set task preferences to suit your favourite interest, so that the tasks you receive have a higher chance of being connected to the interests of choice.

Toggle Sprint

Sprinting is now togglable! Instead of holding down the sprint key, the default is now switched to pressing the sprint key once to activate sprinting. Fear not though, if you prefer holding down the sprint key you can go into the settings menu to configure it.

Camera Changes

For a more streamlined experience, we’ve chosen to lock the camera zoom into 3 levels of zoom; Zoomed out, Medium (default), and Zoomed in.

Moon Coffee Discounts

Grab a coffee and a doughnut at a discounted price! Moon Coffee joins the discount craze every Tuesday from 20:00 to closing time. On these nights, 3 random items get a 30% discount for the entire night. As usual, you can find information on this discount night on the calendar app. Enjoy!

Miscellaneous changes

• The discount amount is now reflected in the total amount in any shop UI.
• You can now favourite any HUD app and have it stick to the screen when all other HUD apps are closed. By default, the career app has been favourited. Use the star on any app to favourite that app.
• The cooking UI has now been connected to the fridge. Any ingredients found in the fridge will count towards usable ingredients in the cooking UI.
• Pressing “esc” in the settings menu will now return you to the main menu.
• In-game notifications now last 5 seconds longer.
• Royal Snail office spaces have been locked temporarily.
• Each interest XP now scales correctly with the interest level.
• The pawn stall is open 24/7 now.
• You now get a notification when you receive any mail at Royal Snail.
• Wardrobe Storage slots have been increased!
• All tooltips and descriptions have had a renewal! Find out more in-game by reading them on your favourite items!
• When cooking, the food that’s in preparation is now displayed in the UI bubble.

Bugs-Fixes and Tweaks

• Tutorial Task: “Colour me curious” fixed.
• Fast forward effect applied to sleep.
• Lights do not overlap each other.
• The sudden lighting shift at dawn/dusk is fixed.
• Collectables’ rarity colour code has been altered to reflect more logical colours.
• A known bug with fridge inventory spaces disappearing from time to time has been addressed.
