It's time for another review folks! This time, I'm stepping a little out of my wheelhouse to review a much older game than I usually do.

When it first came out, The Order: 1886 got almost universally panned, and one of the most widespread criticisms of the game was that it was too short — specifically compared to its AAA price tag. But we're all about short games here, so I decided to give this game another chance to see if there was actually a gem underneath all that drama surrounding its length.

Unfortunately, it's still a pretty bad game, anyway. But more fortunately, it is bad in interesting ways. So bad that it's good, one could even say.

Next up, we'll have a more normal review of the upcoming roguelike TombStar, after which I'm thinking I might take a look at that new Gwent mode, but haven't fully decided yet. The Nier: Automata GTDM is also in production in the background, but I wouldn't expect it for a few months yet.

Was The Order: 1886 Really That Bad?

A game's reception is, in part, dependent on its length, and The Order: 1886 was one of the most visible games affected by this phenomenon. It was immediately panned in 2015 for its short length and high price, but looking back on it almost a decade later, was that a fair assessment? Once you get past its cost, does the game itself actually hold up?
