Happy New Year everyone! Before we get started, just a note that my holiday "break" is over and I will now be returning to my regular schedule (Patreon exclusive videos on Tuesdays, weekend videos on Saturdays with Patreon getting early access on Friday). Also, I think every weekend video in January will be about music or the music industry (I have a Musical Autopsy scheduled later this month, next week is about a very strange music copyright case, and I got something really fun planned for the end of the month). So, let's get on to this weekend's video!
Yes, it's 2022 and not much has changed over the last two years... COVID's surging again, many places are back under various restrictions, everyone's still angry at each other for how they vote, and Taylor Swift is still trying to take her fans for as much money as she can by getting them to buy something they already own! But is it different this time? Find out with your early access to this weekend's video:
Taylor Swift has recently re-recorded and re-released two of her old albums. But why? If you're not a Swiftie (in other words, if your life doesn't revolve around a person you'll never know) you might think this is just another cash grab, like her practice of selling the same album with different covers. BUT does she actually have a good reason for doing this besides cashing in on old music? Buckley looks at the drama between her, her old label, and manager-to-the-stars Scooter Braun that has led to "Taylor's Versions".
