Dave Meltzer always knocked the match because it wasn't good in the way of mat action, which from that perspective, he's not wrong. I think that's where a lot of people arrive at that conclusion, too, after listening to and reading Dave's write-ups about it. I thought then and I still think now that the purpose of a blind-fold match isn't for the participants to have a mat classic. Everyone's freakin' blind-folded, of course it's not going to be a clinic! Lol! The pay-off match at Mania VII was fun. At least, it was for the 12-year-old me at the time, which is what it was meant for--the kids my age in 1991.
