Greetings Patrons!

As I indicated in my New Year's post, I have set up a series of charitable funding goals with a pledge to contribute a portion of this Patreon's proceeds to good causes that I am passionate about. I will be doing posts like this on a monthly basis to discuss different charities and organizations that I am happy and proud to contribute to on behalf of this Patreon account!

This month, there are two non-profit services I'd like to highlight where the Patreon funds will be directed:

Firstly, there were a number of additional subscriptions in December. In keeping with my 2021 holiday pledge, 100% of my earnings in Nov/Dec were pledged towards good causes. As such, an additional $150 in earnings has been donated to the Omaha-based Women's Center for Advancement. The organization is a local resource that assists anyone in my community a who is experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking. They provide a 24/7 crisis hotline and other services to help women, children, and families in need. In Omaha, they provided services to more than 4,102 clients in the year 2020 alone.

Secondly, as of January this Patreon's funding exceeded a goal of $500/mo which means that each month $200 will be allocated to charitable giving each month moving forward. This month, I have donated to The Bridging Tech Charitable Fund on behalf of this Patreon. This is a relatively new charity focused on 'bridging the digital divide' and equipping US K-12 students facing homelessness with educational opportunities and technology. As you can imagine, the digital divide among students from different backgrounds became much more pronounced as schools went to remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their current mission is to give laptops for learning to students in need. Bridging Tech's approach is novel and much needed - and quite in line with my own beliefs that technology should be available for everyone.

Thank you for supporting this account - and let's keep building cool stuff together!

Sincerely,

-Nate
