Steam situation

First of all, there's no news concerning the Steam situation. I haven't heard anything from Valve's 'DMCA department' since the game got removed. And with all the reviews also being removed from the game earlier this week, I'm lowering my expectations on if it will be reinstated. That doesn't mean I've given up. I've prepared a decent size document I will be sending them next week. Everything concerning Artlist is sorted, so it boils down to what Valve decides to do about it. But in any case, every one of the 25.000 people who bought the game on Steam will get the chapter 8 update, as long as Valve doesn't lock me out of the app admin.

Progress

It was hard to get into the workflow after my 'no planned break' last week, After everything that's been happening lately, I found myself second-guessing and questioning every single render I posed. I was re-rendering, re-posing and general progress were extremely slow. That is until yesterday when I did the render you see above. Somehow that got me back into the groove, and for the first time in what feels like forever I had a lot of fun setting up the scenes, posing, and rendering again. Numbers are at 1,005 story renders and 14,310 animated frames, which makes this last chapter the one with the most animations of them all. The reason for the larger than normal amount of animations is because I wanted to give each girl at least 6 animations (both SFW and NSFW), as you wrap up the story with whoever you've chosen.

Ask me Anything

I've been asked about this several times the last few weeks and judging by the number of private messages I'm getting, I think it's about time we did an AMA. So if you have any questions about LoF, my next game, Steam, music, development, or whatever you might be wondering about, feel free to ask in the comments section below or send it as a private message, and I'll do my best to answer them all next week.

Have a nice weekend, and stay safe out there.

Stay on Valve about it, their service department is notoriously horrible and slow. Just keep harassing them until you hear back, it can take a while. Thanks for the update Drifty, keep your head up with this Steam situation, it’ll get sorted eventually, they’re just really, really slow.

If Steam/Valve don't put the game back on soon, Then that's more than 25,000 complaints! Glad you have got back into working on the game, Cannot wait for chapter 8, LoF = 1 of the best god damn VN games! Then take a vacation 😊

You probably have seen commments from some of your creator peers, but a lot of game developrs are looking twice at their music licenses. ive seen some serious discussions about not getting wammied like you did, and they are proactively fixing their music tracks. The dumbest part is that your game was the first ive seen that spent sigficant thought in melding a soundtrack with story and plot flow. Seeing the effort you and others like Digi.B have put into audio, the damned lawyers just piss me off.

Will the next game be an entirely new one with new characters or will some characters make a return? I hope it's not the last we've seen of cece

What will you try to do differently to make sure that this music issue doesn't happen for the next game? The music you chose was so beautiful so I want the next game to be beautiful with story and music as well

what will the next game be about, and is it going to be sci-fi, vampire, medievil? Is it a female mc, or a male mc? what "tags" will be in the game? will patrons be mentioned in this game and the next? and what tiers if so? Do we get any say in the next game? Like you pose a girl with 3 different dress or color, and we get to vote?

I hope things are going to get all better soon, and I'm glad that you are feeling good getting into the development again. I'm a little embarrassed to say but your creation has actually inspired me to try developing one myself as well, especially because of the story of Cece's. So I'm really curious to learn about how you have learnt to construct a story so well, and how you conclude that a character (probably from your personal experience) is worth putting into your game. But please there is a need to answer these questions if anything does not feel alright to share! I'm already very grateful to meet your game.

Man this music situation is crushing. There are many things that make LOF one of AVN's I've played, if not the best, but the music is easily one of the most important. It is just SO much better than every other title out there, and so perfectly matched with every scene. I just found this game last week and playing chapter 7 without it is .. well it's still good but it's really hard to know how much better it would be with the music. For now I've got a chapter 1-6 install with music and 7 without. So I play the first until Ch7 and then switch. Hopefully it comes back soon. I really hope this problem gets sorted out soon. But if you're ok with Artlist is there any reason you couldn't restore the music for the patreon version?

Here are a few questions I had, I apologize if they've been asked and answered before. 1. What is with the bunny slippers? I love the scenes with them, especially the 2nd musical cleaning montage, I just found them so incredibly random, but again, I love the bunny slippers. which leads to question number two... 2. Was that second bunny slipper cleaning montage with all the girls a dream or did that actually happen? I had a couple of drinks while playing so I wasn't sure if it was actually happening or more like the dream sequence from The Big Lebowski, but it was hilarious and cute. I also loved the return of the slippers during Cece's recovery. 3. Did you already have a background in programming and/or rendering work before you decided to make this game? And if not, how hard was it to learn, particularly the rendering work? (which I assume was done with DAZ 3D/IRAY) You're a top notch story teller Drifty, really looking forward to the conclusion of Leap of Faith and whatever your next game is going to be.

Shane Ducharme

How much time do you devote (roughly) to writing? Do you come up with the entire story before starting the programming side of the story? Or is it more of as you work though a chapter, if another idea comes up, do you change right away? Or stick to the original to see how much it would change/affect the next chapter(s)?

Drifty, i just wanted to say, keep plugging. I only just found your game and became a patreon patron but if it helps your mindset in any way, just know that if the circumstances you are afraid of do actually come to pass, even though I am not on steam, you never have to refund one cent of my support. It is very very rare for an AVN to give me as the Aussies call it, a case of proper feels, but LoF did exactly that. And it is one of only 2 I have played that actually made me shed a tear (the other was Acting Lessons). I hope one day before i am gone, i have the chance to experience LoF with music but even if I don't, it's okay because even the silent version is out of this world simply stated.

I agree. Maybe Cece could help MC from LoF reunite with his estranged Dad and step Sis. They probably figure heavily in at least chapter 8 though since C showed up when and where she did in chapter 7. But more details of that entire situations history would be an ideal plot mechanism for a new game.

Is there an expected time frame for chapter 8?
