No freaking WAY did I see that "fifth" candidate being who it was, haha...  My suspicion was totally on Elsa.  I'm looking forward to seeing exactly what this whole covenant with the dragon thing is about.  Also wondering exactly why Roswaal is so set on killing the dragon...  Many questions to be asked, but that's what I love about this show!

(2:35): :) glad I subscribed early enough to mention it to you. I last minute thought to mention it to you as I was scrolling down past episode 11. (8:10): Especially because Wilhelm is wearing gloves, so you can't even see a potential wedding ring (if they even do that in this world). (9:45): Emilia and Roswaal are on the same side. Emilia is essentially Roswaal's nominee for the throne. (11:25): I'm not sure it's permanent damage, but it's basically on the level of like a major sprain or a broken bone. It'll take a number of months for it to heal on it's own, and maybe doesn't heal right or something. (12:25): Felix hasn't treated Subaru yet, he's just here now to negotiate the healing stuff. Felix lives in the capital, which is like a days journey away. (12:45): Wilhelm doesn't actually know, it's more of him recognizing in Subaru's eyes, the horrors of war basically. (13:50): Yeah that was real. Some backstory on that event from the novels. Ground dragons have the Divine Protection of Wind Evasion, which basically makes them unaffected by the wind and air resistance and also applies in a small area around them (aka the carriages too). Basically what happened is that Subaru stuck his hand outside of that area and got hit with a lot of air resistance that dragged him out of the cart. I don't think it's quite realistic though, since ground dragons only go like 60 mph, and you definitely don't get close to being dragged out of a car on the freeway by sticking your hand out the window. (14:35): Pause as much as you want. You will surely be rewarded for thinking in depth and pausing when you need more time to process or think is vital to that. There are many places in Re:Zero where there will be tons of dense information conveyed in a very short period of time, and pausing / going over it a 2nd or 3rd time will be the only way to really process all of that information. Also I mostly pay to hear what you think of the anime (since you know, I'm very familiar with the anime itself), so the more theorizing and hearing your thoughts on stuff, the better imo. Ah, the cloak, you'll learn more about the cloak later, but this is also the only plot hole I'm aware of, because Emilia should of been wearing that cloak (though without the hood, since that was added at the suggestion of Subaru in the timeskip) in episode 1. There just no other explanation available other then Emilia has been wearing the cloak all the time. But realistically is just not depicted like that in either the novels or the anime, because they didn't want to introduce the character in an abnormal outfit. Also note that she was wearing it at the beginning of the episode in the village. (20:20): Yeah the character designs are so good. It's kinda funny though, Tappei (the author) has actually said that he has trouble visualizing the characters (or something like that I think, I'm a bit foggy on it, and there's probably some translation stuff going on), and so there aren't that many descriptions of how a character looks in the novels, outside of a few key details (like hair color, or general sentiment upon seeing them), so pretty much all of the character designs come from the illustrator Shin'ichirō Ōtsuka. The web novel (which is essentially a public draft), I think has 1 image in it in like 600 chapters or something. (20:45): Glad you think it's narcissistic, Priscilla also uses "ware" as their first person pronoun. "ware" is archaic and is really only used in literature in the modern day Japanese, but it's notable feature is that "particularly emphasizes one's very existence". So it's quite an arrogant pronoun to use. Here's the article I was using if you want to dive deeper in the rabbit hole (Japanese pronouns have so much nuance to them that is just completely lost when translated to English) : https://www.japanesewithanime.com/2016/08/ware.html. (21:00): That is correct, "Astrea" is Wilhem's last (family) name. (35:00): As is Reinhard is also an Astrea. He's actually Wilhelm's grandson. I think the "van" does convey some meaning but I don't remember what it is exactly and frankly it's not important at all, but sometimes it trips people up thinking they're different, when they really aren't. (30:50): I'm not really sure, but I think there was a king, but really there was a whole family that was the royal bloodline, and some of those would of been female. As for this batch of royal candidates, I think they're specifically female, but really it's more of a selection by the Dragon via the touchstones. The prophecy is basically like out of the 5 I choose, choose 1 to form a new covenant with me. So it's probably a choice of the Dragon? But that's just speculation. (35:40): Yeah, now we know why Reinhard did what he did in Episode 3. He saw Felt hold the insignia, which is a touchstone, saw it light up, realized that Felt was qualified for the Royal Selection, and then immediately secured her so that she could participate in the Royal Selection. Some other background. About 14 years ago, a baby from the royal family was stolen or lost. The royal family was well known for their blond hair and red eyes. This helps explain Reinhards other questions (Felt's family name and age). I won't go into any further detail since it's from some side story stuff that I haven't fully read yet, but there's another story there that barely intersects with the main story, probably. Also me at the start of this episode "maybe I should try to not write as much since I'll get caught up quicker", me at the end of the episode: "damn I wrote another novel again". Let me know if you want me to tone it down some, no point writing all of this if you don't want to read it all.
