This month's wildcard map got a little out-of-hand. It's a canyon delta! Except it's clearly not a delta, it's just a river mouth. Oh well.

I like doing these outdoors maps. They're flexible, consistently beautiful, I have a lot of material to work with for variations, and I'm really good at painting water and sunlight. This must be how Bob Ross felt.

Variants

  • Supporter: A grassy canyon (with or without a bridge) is paired with a desert ruin by the ocean. Night maps are included for both, of course.
  • Enthusiast: Adding to the above is a desert homestead vaguely reminescent of certain sci-fi desert planets, as well as a desert map completely devoid of artificial structures.
  • Benefactor: Oh boy. The benefactor pack this week comes with dry desert variations for the homestead, ruins, and empty desert maps, a grassy shrine with a mysterious statue and offering box and a handful of smaller hokora beside it, an iceberg variant with a deep blue ocean beneath, an oasis in the desert, an oasis by desert ruins, the shrine glowing with ominious runes at night, and a projection of a gateway from the shrine.

Technical Details

  • Resolution: 4,760 x 3,080
  • Map Size: 22x34 tiles

Notes

Let it be known that I had three to four additional variants planned for this map, and the only reason they got axed is because the map was using approximately twice the RAM I actually have on my PC and I've been drawing on swap file space for the last six hours. Maybe I'll have to do a few 'revisited' maps in the future and do up the variants I didn't get a chance to do. I'm gonna note them down for my future reference.

  • Antlion Pit
  • Pyroclastic Flow
  • Ruin Ritual
  • Desert Homestead w/ Moisture Farming Equipment
  • Cave Entrance
  • Sinkhole
  • Desert Monolith

Anyways, thanks for your support and thank you for reading.
