This week the boys are joined by YouTube Metal Man, Jonathan Young! Derek and Jonathan you should check out Eluveitie they are a European folk metal band that i absolutely love

Just a little bit of info for the "game music doesn't focus on melody as much as it used to" part: old game consoles only had 3 melodic channels to work with, and the 4th was used for percussion, so composers NEEDED to write music with strong melodies. And if you really pay attention, you'll see that a lot of the melodies just outline chord tones

I think King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are one of most creative rock bands out there. Constantly pushing new lyrical and musical ideas. Their thrash album Infest the Rats Nest is bananas
