June Update! - The In-Person Era Begins! (Patreon)
Content
Hey, everybody! Chris here! Figured I'd touch base with you fellers and fellerettes about some big changes coming to our degenerate program in the coming days, weeks, and months!
First Things First - Derrick Has Landed!
It happened! We are all officially back in the same physical location for the first time since 2020. This means we'll finally be able to do the show in person as I originally intended. This is a big deal for me because, truthfully, I never wanted the Snark Tank to be a remote show. The only reason we went in that direction at all was because I thought it would be a temporary solution in response to COVID lockdowns. If I knew back then that the pandemic would last as long as it did and have us recording remotely for the next year and beyond, I probably would have cancelled the show then and there. It's simply not what I had in mind and not what I wanted.
While I am ultimately glad I didn't kill this deranged baby in the crib, as we've had a lot of fun over the last few years, I am extremely excited to get back to what I truly wanted to do in the first place and put to rest this deeply compromised version. I'm not an avid podcast listener myself, but the ones that I loved and connected with the most were always in person. Sleepycast, Rooster Teeth Podcast, etc. Shoot-the-shit shows where the energy of in-person fucking around reached through the headphones and invited the listener in to be a part of it. I wanted it to feel like you were in the room hanging out with your dumbest and most amusing friends instead of just eavesdropping on a delay-riddled discord call between them. It's hard to explain, but the energy is just better that way and I strongly believe that will come through.
I'm disturbingly excited for how the show will shift as a result of this and FUCK am I stoked to finally take the dreaded Internet-Delay out back and paint the pavement with it's brains.
WHAT HAPPENS NOW?!
I'm currently building out our in person office, Derrick is moving in and getting himself situated, and we're all figuring out our new production pipeline as it has shifted immensely with the removal of our old online centered model. This is a pretty drastic shift to how we do things so we apologize in advance for any fuckery that you witness on your end as a result.
The month of June as a whole will likely be a pretty fucky month, for lack of a better term. In all likelihood we probably can't record a proper episode again until Wednesday the 3rd, and that's being pretty generous. We'll be making up for that content skip with some Patreon Exclusive Solo Episodes, but just expect an unusual cadence in the first half of the month. Even as the month goes on and our schedule returns to normal, I'm sure we'll still be troubleshooting aspects of the new setup. This isn't my first rodeo so I know how foolish it is to expect zero problems, regardless of perfect planning. Maybe we'll lose the video feed on an episode halfway through because the cables are setup incorrectly. Maybe the first episodes this month will remain remote until everything in the office is iron clad. Maybe we record in person but only one of our cameras works and we don't know until it hits the edit. Maybe key equipment gets it's shipping delayed. All nightmares are possible!
All this is to say that by July we should have all of the kinks ironed out, so we appreciate your patience during this period of intense transformation.
We'll see you all very soon!
Chris
P.F.A.Q
To get ahead of some questions I assume some of you may have, I'll try and put together a Preemptive Frequently Asked Questions list for you below!
Q: Will Remote Episodes Ever Happen Again?
A: Yes, but they will be the exception and not the rule.
Q: How Will This Change The Show?
A: Timing will be better, way fewer interruptions, no delay, physical interaction, etc. Though the plan is to have a monitor beside us to show clips in real time, though that's something we'll iron out after our standard setup is golden.
Q: Is Sweeny Gay?
A: Very.
Q: Will Guests Also Be In Person?
A: Yes. Though exceptions will be made if we get a truly outrageous guest that would be dumb to pass up on.
Q: More Snark Tank Content Beyond The Podcast?
A: One thing at a time! No strict plans for that yet, but the likelihood of us recording dumb shorts is no doubt going to skyrocket if we're in the same office as often as we will be.

A: Very.
