A little explanation on the actor who played Doyle. Glenn Quinn was suffering from a pretty massive drug addiction that was effecting his work. They tried to hold onto him for as long as possible, but it got to the point where they couldn't run the show with his lateness and erratic behavior. (Nothing violent. He was never a bad guy when on the drugs, just irresponsible.) Unfortunately this story has a sad ending, too. Glenn Quinn died of an overdose in 2002. :( It's especially sad, seeing how from all reports I've read, he was well loved by the people involved in the bigger shows he was in, like Angel and Roseanne, especially his castmates. (Not to say that he was hated by castmates in smaller shows, I just didn't read anything about their reactions.)
