He was building up to release the usual blood scythe attack while they were trying to behead him (he says something like "I have to release the attack"), it just came out after they cut his head off. I don't think it's something special to Uppers, it was just the timing of it all. And delayed for dramatic effect.

Great reaction. I personally enjoy the show for it's story. I think the show would of definitely been just as good with normal to great animation. It's funny seeing how most people who told me to start this show spoke mainly about the storyline first rather than the animation. It's like now people are more so trying to downplay the story by saying top notch animation is what carries the show and I think that's not true. There are some anime shows out there with nearly just as good animation but fall through the cracks. I think people continue watching DS because it has both a great story and top notch animation making people want to continue watching it. lol it's weird to me seeing how some people are lowkey downplaying the show's storyline as if we just didn't watch an exciting ass episode and show that keeps you on your toes and isn't as predictable as others, but to each it's own.
