- The flashback in black and white from the beginning was from the Edo era, which began in the 1603 and ended in 1867. Demon Slayer takes place in the Taisho era, which went from 1912 - 1926. (I take no credit for knowing this. I saw another person post this info somewhere else and thought I'd share). So what the show implies is that Daki has been at this for possible over 100 yrs. - In the show they said that with all of Daki's former aliases as an Oiran, she had the word "hime" in her name. The word "hime" (pronounced HE-MAY) means "princess" in Japanese. - Random side request/suggestion: If you wanna see a dope anime about playing the shamisen, you should watch "Those Snow White Notes" aka Mashiro no Oto. It is the story of a gifted shamisen player who loses his sound after his grandfather dies. The show focuses on him trying to find his sound while at the same time dealing with the expectations of others. It is available on Crunchyroll. Again if you like hearing the shamisen, you should DEFINITELY check it out.

Edo was renamed Tokyo when they moved the capital there from Kyoto. So the title card showing Edo and subsequently Tokyo isn't to demonstrate a change in location but to show the passage of time.

2021-12-21 01:33:22 Daki killed two different madams guys...you can tell by their face...they're both different the flashback black and white lady was way prettier and didn't have suspensions of Daki killing people...the madam with the knife had suspensions and figured she wasn't human
