Drug dealers are using telegram a lot these days, apps like that. So yeah.

I forgot how immediate Jimmy falls back into his old way. Damn, episode 1.

Kamina 1

Well i don't know about 12 different issues, but i'd definitely be down for a Wire podcast at the end of this discussing how great this show is, and why you will be watching The Sopranos next.

Thats the character Wayland singing the intro btw

Ryan

Especially with the Many Saints of Newark coming out in November, the Sopranos will be getting some real attention. They got to stike while irons hot.

Season 5 is easily thebworst season but its still better than 90% of all tv

One of the reasons why some politicians last so long, especially in the House, is due to them running unopposed. In my city, Lacy Clay Jr. was elected to the House for ten terms. He became so entrenched in that seat a lot of times nobody would run against him from the opposition party and he did so well for the DNC on the national level the DNC had zero vested interest in changing the status quo. You see this a lot in big cities and very remote rural locations.

Side-note from a Gen-Xer in Bmore. There are several things in the show that actually happened. Things like the school deficit. Can be looked up. Some other things you could only find out from people living in certain areas of the city at the time. I wish I had an accurate list because some of the things that happened folks might not believe.

The Wire takes "real stories" to another level. It's practically non-fiction at times!

This season is a bit weaker imo, a few things happen that strain believability a bit in an otherwise grounded show and I think David Simon, being a journalist himself, was a bit too close to the newspaper storyline. Still has a lot of great moments in it and even a bad season of the Wire is still really good

The lie detector copy machine is lifted from the book Homixide A year on the killing streets written by David Simon

Alwyn Smith

The weakest season....

Does Spider not do these anymore? Did I miss an announcement or something?

I spent the first six years of my career working at small newspapers and I think they capture the feel of it pretty well. Alma reminds me of a lot of reporters I worked with, and "Do more with less" was like an actual real thing among a lot of newspaper companies in the 2000s.

Agreed man. The views are going to roll in. I believe they would also be one of (if not THE) first channel on youtube to react to both Wire, and Sopranos. The Normies would be legends.

Ah the finale season, it's been really awesome following this watch along and it has for sure been my favourite so far. I keep saying it, The Wire crew should ABSOUTLEY watch The Sopranos next, especially with the hype surrounding the TV Series at the moment with the movie coming soon.

MUFC93

I have been saying this also, they should totally react to The Sopranos after they finish with The Wire. Hopefully it's the same crew too, it would be awesome to see them react to what is widely considered the two best TV shows of all time.
