This episode is an excellent display of how cops watch out for each other to the detriment of the community. Prez blinds a kid and is protected, Poke and Mahon are deadbeat drunks but the cops turn a blind eye to them, the Feds give the department probable cause to investigate Daniels and nothing comes of it, and they cap it with Bodi punching Poke and getting beat by all the cops. Micky- Omar isn’t a piece on the board he is the guy who walks up and flips the board over then takes all your money and drugs. Confession Time: I freaking love Valcheck, he is awful and a display of everything wrong with the department. But I find him endlessly entertaining.

lesson of the day: cops are evil, even the "good" ones. i've broken up fights and seen fights broken up and no one did any of this tomfoolery/brutality. it was ONE punch. you put him in handcuffs then into the police car, its not that deep

Rickie, it depends on the city and the department. I've seen a similar situation in my 20k person hometown and it all went down exactly the way you said. I have also seen something similar in LA and the cops almost killed the kid.

Valchek is the most punchable character until Scott Templeton shows up IMO.

I'm all for a drinking game for The Wire. Spidey, Rana make it happen! Lol please. Also you two in particular have really good chemistry. I can tell you two get along well.

The point wasn't that "Cops are evil. Even the good ones." It's not that simple. No cop on The Wire can simply be thrown into the category of evil. None are 100% white, or black morally. Only grey.... The biggest issue that i concluded by watching this episode is the lack of training in the police department. Everyone (but maybe Jimmy) is just trying to play their roles, keep the status quo, and have a job at the end of the day. You hit a cop?!?! Well we can do anything to you from this point. That's the reality of it.

last week it was Suraj, this week it's Marketa. can't there be at least one reaction without constant talking over dialogue?

Just in case Chris was still wondering, as some one who's from Baltimore those lake trout subs do slap
