The head writer KaiserNeko have mentioned during their watchalong for the series' 10th anniversery that if they had to redo this episode, future trunks hearing vegeta's wrathful scream would've been the stinger

That's true but I think Vegeta killed Nappa because Goku paralyzed him. Vegeta says something along the lines of I have no use for a Saiyan who can't walk and then blows him up.
