I think what Orochimaru did to Kabuto was to test his loyalty, Kabuto is a strong individual and I think Orochimaru acknowledges that by saying "You're on Kakashi's level" so he wanted to know if he had any other plans without his knowledge.

Orchimaru doing that super intense joke about bestrayal was acttualy fucking brilliant. I think he slightly suspected the things he said and calling it out with a "joke" is a win win because if its true then kabuto is thinking "fuck!! He's probably on to me I really shouldn't bestray him now, he is way smarter than I thought." or "fuck Orchimaru is scary" if he didn't have any intentions of betrayal and Orchimaru is fine with him thinking either one of those lol.

53 is DEFINITELY not a filler. It has some filler scenes but there is major story in it. I approve of this list, except the last part about Kai. A lot of awesome parts are anime only (aka filler) ... Kai would also complicate things with how they release episodes.

Yo....episode 53 is not a filler...Its a very important episode. There's a very good reason why Orochimaru can infiltrate the Leaf village very easily. I think its not revealed in the anime yet, you'll know in the future

man not every episode have to have a fighting in it we already got a whole bunch of fighting in the last 5 or so eps lol i feel like the dialogue and build up is just as hype and important to understand the story, and ebisu was the jounin in place to train konohamaru

tbh it is realistic to wait a month for the final tournament. These were just pre tournaments to vet out other ninja in order to wind up with the very best of the best. Now they need to put on a show for people from all across the ninja world, and that sort of thing takes time to prepare. They also want to give them time to hone their skills and to practice for it.
