Fun facts: the symbols on rock Lee's weights say "guts" and "hard work", motivational shit like that. Also Gai said earlier in the episode that Lee had no talent for other ninja arts. In the original Japanese it's actually that he's fairly handicapped. His chakra network is severely under developed, so he physically CAN'T use any more than what was required to graduate the academy

from someone who is actually fit: you are so wrong. ankle weights and weights in general do work. a week is so not enough time. months of PROPER and INTENSE training. we all wore them when i used to run track in school and always used them when doing leg elevated exercises so...............2hours of running every day for a month, THEN we can talk

Funny you mention other anime using this fight for reference when there are exact animations taken from bebop BY naruto. Naruto also used Jackie Chan for motion reference as well.

I kinda agree as long as they are ajusted to a nice weught and not some ridiculous number. Also it must not be forcing your ankles or like being in suspence. Its not very helthy for the articulations. But with all this in mind its not a bad training, although running minght not be the most apropriate to use them.

It’s hard to hate characters too much once you learn why they act the way they do. Misguided as they are. Flawed characters make for better story :)
