Al is my favourite character, which kinda makes this my favourite episode. I've been waiting for it since you started watching the show - I was entertained ("Gladiator" reference). This fight highlights one of the best aspects about FMA: everyone gets to shine and be involved in the story. Even tertiary characters like Foo and Buccaneer get to "do" stuff. There are many shows where side characters are pushed to the side (like "Naruto", for instance).

One of my favorite parts about this is the first bullet that hits Father. The whole series, he talks about how useless “ordinary humans” are, but the first person to get a hit on him is Nameless Soldier Number 12, some dude who we’ve never seen before, just an ordinary human.

I think the soul for an arm makes sense. Alphonse's punishment is supposed to be "You are unable to feel the warmth of another person" being stuck in the Truth Portal area would fulfill that. Ed used his new knowledge of transmutation to bring Al back BUT he could only bring back his soul. Ed lost his dominant arm to bring out his "right-hand man". So in my head it makes sense because of the original condition of the Truth's punishments.

FMA:B, OP Man and HxH are in another dimension in terms of shounen series. Naruto, Bleach and Fairy Tail really pales in comparison.

I was wondering about this. I thought it might be due to others confusing the tiers all the time? As well just in general making them separate, since, I mean, as far as i'm aware of, we, the premium normies, already have everything available anyway (unless i'm forgetting something) so there really is no need for us to see them. But this is just my guess
