It's production rights were bought by Netflix after a season or two, so it shows up on Netflix as a Netflix original.

I can't tell you how excited I am to see this reaction. It is one of my favorite shows of all time. I really hope you guys fall in love with it. I remember laughing my ass off at Sam Neil's Northern Irish accent. I have thoughts about Grace, which I will wait to share in future episodes, when you learn more about her.

Maybe because I'm a brit and all of this isn't that novel to me but I was never that in to this show :s especially when they introduce Ton Hardy to it and his bloody incomprehensible accent!! Also a Netflix Original is any show Netflix buys the rights to whether they made it themselves or not. Which I think is diluting their brand because people think all Netflix originals are great shows made by Netflix but some of them are just shitty shows netflix bought for new subscribers. 7
