As much as I love this anime, this is prob the worst episode. but it reminds me of me and my brother so it still hits a spot

Yeah I always hated this part of the show. Thankfully its not as bad as it was in 2003 series.

I really don't think it's THAT bad. Could have been much worse, Imean they wrapped it all up quickly.

Worst episode. Hughes' "that's just how men are" is both stupid and incredibly out of character--this is the guy that's CONSTANTLY gushing about how he feels about his wife and daughter! And the whole Al last-thursdayism thread is even stupider. Why is he listening to Barry? Why is he seriously entertaining an idea that only Philosophy 101 students would discuss, and even then only while high? PLUS on top of that it's a textbook idiot plot--everything could be resolved if Ed just SAID the thing he has NO REASON NOT TO SAY. Aggghhhh this episode is so bad. Good thing the rest of the series is AMAZING.

Not really. Every character have good believable reasons for the way they acted and said. And it all got resolved after the build up in a very believable and emotional way. How is Huges comment out of character because he likes to talk about his famliy? That is a very simplified way of looking at a character if you think "he talks about this specific thing he love so he cant have problems talking about other things or feelings." Yea no. It is a classic stereotype about men sure but it is hardly out of character. And then Al that have been trapped in a body that dont feel sleep or eat for how many years now? And how young was he when it happend? 10? 11? i don´´t remember the exact age. Doubting his memory is not as long of a stretch as you make it out to be. And Ed may not have a logical reason not to say it. But he have lots of emotional reasons. Fear and guilt being the biggest. If you want to argue some of the plot points are overused tropes sure. But out of character or just plain stupid? No thats crap. It is clearly (in my opinion) not the worst episode. The worst episode (that i can definitively remember and point out) is the first one.

I believe that once your automail is built by a particular mechanic, you have to go to him/her for your repairs. That’s why Edward exclusively had Winry for all his servicing.

Al's reaction was justified first time he meets someone like himself, even before he would have wondered why he's different. If can you can attach a soul to an object it's not far fetched to think his memories can be created. His brother keeps hesitating when he's about to ask something.

With regards to Al thhinking he is not real you could think of it another way , that Al WAS alive when they were kids with Winri, but when they tried to bring their mother back to life Al died. And then Ed made a fake brother from armour for himsefl and pretended Al was still alive.
