There a few spots where the show audio will echo over our audio weirdly. This happened because I sped up the footage to save some time for the fair use. May or may not fix for the YouTube release. Enjoy!

Shout outs to all my avataturds! F all the discord suck ups

Jules Eris

I can die happy now, thank you Normies! <3

thenormies

Shout out to both the avaturds and discord suck ups to admitting they both took it a little too far. How about we practice the themes preached in the show now and coexist together. We need the constructive feedback but at the same time we need the people to defend us from straight disrespectful behavior.

Wtf I just wake up at 3:50 for some reason and this was just uploaded

Julia Contreras

YAAAAAAAAS All your effort is much appreciated~~ Awesome reaction.

She can only blood blend during a full moon

Mten10th

Blood bending only works during a full moon

Lalisa Truong

Fun fact!! This episode was aired as a Halloween special :D

This is by far my favorite episode. I'm a horror genre junkie so this was just amazing to watch as a kid. Even now. But yeah, Suraj was right. The next cycle of the Avatar is a waterbender. After Aang disappeared, they hunted down the waterbenders so that the cycle couldn't continue.

I never clicked so fast when I saw this notification

I'm not sure if you noticed, but they can only bloodbend during a full moon.

Such a dark episode... We basically just witnessed a loss of innocence (of sorts). In the end, Hama won. She laid out her terms - to bring another bloodbender into this world - and Katara had no choice but to comply. She was forced to sacrifice her own personal integrity in order to save Aang and Sokka. What's heartbreaking is when you remember what she said back in "The Imprisoned" episode about how "waterbending is as much a part of me as earthbending is a part of Haru" and then realizing here, the reason why she was crying was because bloodbending is now a part of her and she can never unlearn it. The technique is not necessarily evil I agree, but because it's Katara we're talking about here, you can see why she may see this technique as so. Her first introduction to it was this and it was pretty traumatizing. As for Hama, for a one time antagonist, she's a pretty sympathetic character imo. I know she wasn't always this way (judging by how happy she looked before the first of the Fire Nation raids), but because of war and how the Fire Nation cruelly treated her and her fellow tribesmen, she was warped into this person. It's sad really, to see how someone could turn so bitter and resentful that they start to do onto others what was done to them. We saw this with Jet, but with Hama, it was to the point she was still like this even at old age. Her vengeance knows no bounds. I also loved how this tied back to what Aang said in "The Avatar and the Firelord" about how "anyone's capable of great good and great evil". I think the reason the Fire Nation was capturing waterbenders in the first place was because after not being able to find the last airbender, they probably thought there was a possibility that the next Avatar could reincarnate into the next element in the cycle, which would be water. So to prevent that, they would capture as many waterbenders as they could and lock them up. Of course, they couldn't touch the North because of how fortified it was. Another reason to capture waterbenders could be to weaken any opposition against them in the war. In the end, as you saw, it was mainly just the Earth Kingdom vs the Fire Nation.

im new to patreon and wanted to ask if you do uncut reactions to avatar.

My man suraj came through right before I was about to unpledge.

Liam Skoda

Yay! This is my favourite episode of ATLA.

Burooj Ahanger

Sucks about the audio, ate my ears up

Anonymous

Fun fact the blood bending sounds were originally even creepier but they chose to tone it down

Anonymous

I mean the technique is pretty damn evil, is the only technique that is really invasive of the body so is pretty fuck up to use it in someone and is the only art known to endanger the user's mental state. A very Sith power...

Anonymous

They mentioned that they're considering releasing uncut versions of most of the episodes later down the line. If you click on Livestreams, they currently have an uncut version of the Season 2 finale as well as an uncut version of Day of Black Sun.

Burooj Ahanger

I mean war prisoners are an actual thing IRL. Don't see them being killed even if it was more mature

Anonymous

In real life war POWs R kept alive for trade value not the value of human life. If the enemy won't be able to get back some of their own people the prisoners are killed

Jackie

Hama was just a civilian as well if you wanted to know why she was targeting Fire Nation civilians. She's just like Jet; they were too vengeful and angry to care what is right or wrong anymore.

Anonymous

Hama to me was a sympathetic character, she, like many other people in their world, wanted nothing to do with the war, and had it not happened she would never of been forced to learn blood bending to survive. Unfortunately her rage and passion for vengeance was misguided, she used her unique and unheard of form of water bending on the innocent, people who didn't actually wage war against her tribe/the rest of the world. In my opinion Hama would of been much more justified in going after heads of state/those in power with her blood-bending. In this regard, I'd consider blood-bending a necessary evil regarding her cirumstance, but she shouldn't have used it on the innocent. But in the end I do sympathise with her, she was all alone in a country that captured people like her and destroyed her life, and she -misguidedly- took her sadness and anger out on the wrong people. She could potentially have been capable of ending the war if she went after the right people.

ThIS iS nOt A KiDs ShOW!!! Am I Right Great Reaction guys!

LOK doesnt forget this... they say there are acceptions and some benders are special (like combustion man). he had a unique gift to bend with out the moon.

Kanan Jarrus

Thank you for all your hard work. Sometimes I feel like I'm asking to much of you guys, and I hope you still enjoy doing this sort of thing.

Anonymous

Since "The Day of Black Sun" is a two-part episode, will you guys release those two videos together or a week apart?

Anonymous

Suraj was right. There are many reasons here to keep prisoners of war, as explained by some people already. They weren't just not killing each other because it's a "kid's show". In many ways, barely keeping them alive and letting them suffer is much worse.

Anonymous

I love egg drop soup.

Allison

I have issues with this episode... and it's really because of the avatar finale... I'll go into it more after the finale has been posted.

Anonymous

Cozy 4 ftw

Julia Contreras

I still remember all the discussions that this episode generated in the fandom at that time... pages and pages in forums about all the ways a waterbending master could control a human being and even kill him. Dehydration, reverse the flow of blood, even cause blindness, etc, etc. So dark. One of the best "Halloween specials" of any series, ever.

Anonymous

If you guys paid more attention you'll know that blood bending can only be done during a full moon.

Anonymous

yo if toph wanted to, could she pull the iron out of somebody's blood like magneto?

Anonymous

Also I'm super excited for this next episode. I think it's the funniest of the show

Anonymous

The only thing that's silly about blood bending is that water benders would be able to EVISCERATE entire armies like nothing... so they should be the most powerful nation. See what it did to those trees? It should theoretically be able to do that to bodies too.

Keep It Zen

People didn't even know the power existed, just like nobody knew Earth benders could metal bend.

Koala Banana

That's true but I don't know why you say it's silly. Just ridiculously OP you mean? Yes but if you think about it, water benders aren't the only ones. Earth benders could bury entire armies with ease. They'll suffocate unless they're also earth benders. Air benders can also easily suffocate entire armies with enough skill, simply by removing the air from their lungs. If benders wanted to be really immoral with their powers, they can all be super devastating. Can't think of a similar thing for fire, but if they set their opponents cloths on fire that'd be effective. They can also use up all the oxygen in an enclosed space with enough fire, suffocating everyone in the room.

KORRA SPOILERS BELOW..................Bloodbending is said to be a exremely rare talent. So to even build a waterbending army of bloodbenders would be a challenge. Add to that that only three bloodbenders ever had been able to bloodbend without a full moon. So unless the battle takes place at night...during full moon..a bloodbending army is useless

Anonymous

Well i mean it's already out if you want to see :) The live recording i mean <3

Anonymous

I find her quite sympathetic as a character, even until the end. While I agree the villagers are innocent and should be left alone, the fire nation does essentially practice genocide against every other nation. It makes sense why shes so upset.

Lego The Office

Jesus Christ, people are dropping LOK spoilers left and right here! Anyway, regarding something Suraj mentioned in the video, in the episode Sokka's Master, I always thought that the guy who explained who Piando was to the Gaang was the shopkeeper or the armorer whose shop they were in. If you think of it like that, the exposition does make sense. I do remember thinking the same thing about Ole Man Ding though, he was a rather convenient too, but I figure I would let it slide because Avatar is awesome. Loved the reaction guys, I appreciate the extended bits where you all are joking around. I wish I could give you extra likes for Suraj nipping at Mickey's shoulder and Rana's chicken recipe (Girl, that sounds good, share the recipe! It could be a new video, "Cooking with Rana"!). ;)

Anonymous

For the people arguing that Hama should kill the prisioners, when Hama eventually dies (she's pretty old, so it shouldn't be too long), all her prisoners are probably going to starve to death.

Anonymous

I don't think so. Even Magneto couldn't do it until after Mystique gave the guard an iron-filled booster shot.

Keep It Zen

Yeah in 3x4 the guy was the shopkeeper. He had an Apron, and was sweeping, so at the very least he was a janitor who knew his stuff :p

Oscar Villalobos

When I watching this I was 12 I was fucking scared lmao I could not sleep for days after watching this episode

Lalisa Truong

Is it because of that certain thing? Because all I'm gonna say is that it couldn't happen because there was a vital piece missing.

Anonymous

Created a patreon account specifically for this reaction haha great video as always you guys!
