There are a lot of different versions of each series that have completely different subtitles, so sometimes the openings will have English subtitles. My version of the episode does have the English subs for example. The thing you mentioned at the end about Reg not being worried about passing out, the way I understood it is in the middle of the Abyss, Riko would have to fight on her own if he passed out for two hours, but in this case he can be protected by Nanachi and just be brought back to the hideout or something to wait it out, which I guess would happen off screen or in the last episode
