The author has been deemed to be kind of questionable at times (through interviews that have been done and with the presentation of nudity of children at times in the show and how some things are presented) but the storytelling is good so I just gotta keep watching. One thing I will say though is I love the little worldbuilding elements of the show, even if things are not explicitly stated. It's cool to see the different animals in the ecosystem and how they interact. Another thing is when they show the graveyard by Nanachi's place as well as the whistles that she has hung up on the wall. I think that those whistles belong to the cave raiders who were killed in the Abyss, with Nanachi taking the whistle and burying the remains afterwards. I can't remember if this is confirmed in later episodes or not, but I think it's pretty clear that's what it is even though it isn't explicitly stated in the episode.

Yup, definitely some amazing world-building and that art style, my goodness! The style of music especially in the last few episodes was great as well! I decided to not comment on the revealing scenes in this show just because it's so apparent, I just assumed everyone's already talked about it. Glad to know it's not just me who was wondering about some of these scenes haha

Also on a side note no matter how Perfect I find Made in Abyss it still has so many WEIRD Facets, facets that are not exclusive to MiA but also prevalent in the wider anime and manga industry. Mainly the whole depiction of children and some of the language in regards to genitalia. It's very awkward because there's really no justifying the creep factor. Especially if you ever want to show such a beautiful piece of art to a Non-Anime watcher. I get that there are cultural guidelines and giant differences between the east and west. And sometimes you can argue the imagery isn't as offensive considering we are talking about animated drawings and not fully realized actors.
