"He's TOUCHING me!"

"Am not! She's LOOKING at me!"

"They're breathing loudly, ON PURPOSE!"

"So help me, I will turn this car around!"

"Punchbuggy!"

"Alaska!"

"Corn! Not corn!"

August, y'all. Last month before school starts, stagnant heat, sun shimmering off the asphalt of the open road. Maybe you were squashed in the backseat between siblings or cousins, maybe you were allowed to lay down in the backy-back (can I get an amen from my '80's stationwagon babies?), or maybe you were an only child with all the snacks spread out on one side of the bench seat and all the toys on the other.

Whichever way you traveled, there was music. Songs everyone sang together, songs only one person could tolerate, songs that someone threatened to sing, songs where everyone sang different words.

Remember when? Yes.

Eternal Rules Reminder:

-Three songs

-If it's not on Spotify, provide a link where it can be found

-Any genre, era, artist, style, etc. "Song" can also be loosely interpreted, I have no issue with spoken-word, for example.

-Though we do try to avoid promoting terrible people, everyone understands that sometimes you just love a thing and didn't know the artist was a suppurating dicktoad when we fell in love, and now we're stuck with the beautiful association and don't want to let the dicktoads win. That's fine, just keep it on this side of Butthole Jams: The Bin-Dweller's Collection. Or at least explain why it should come out of the bin!

-If you're wondering if a song you want to include "counts," the answer is always yes.

Don't forget, you can always come and discuss this or any other post, or just hang out, on the Discord server, where we seriously have not had one mean word in the months it's existed, and all the good parts of the internet exist without the bad. I love you guys so much.

Say "road trip" to me and my mental DJ starts spinning the Eagles, and the first song on the playlist is definitely Desperado. Simon and Garfunkel are up next with Bridge over Troubled Water, and let's round it out with Queen's Somebody to Love.
