Hi, we've had several reports of some emulators not launching properly from EmulationStation so we are rolling back the changes regarding EmulationStation from yesterday's release until we can figure out why it's not working for some people.

If you are having issues with EmulationStation:

- Open EmuDeck, go to Manage Emulators, click on Update all configurations and you should be good to go.

hello, i have a problem with the steam rom manager since the new update in my windows handheld. my excluded games are showing up again when i parse it. when i exclude all my games again, it doesn't show up in the exceptions folder anymore. can you help me guys?

I've been having issues since I installed it with the last update. With the last update it wouldn't let me parse any of my ROMs it kept telling me that my configuration was skipped/ invalid. Now it won't even let me launch steam Rom manager at all. I am running Windows 11 Home Edition. Any help would be greatly appreciated I'm not sure exactly where to go to report a problem so I figured I would go on here and hopefully somebody will see it. Thanks in advance. I hope we can get the problem solved because I love EmuDeck on my steam deck and I really hope to be able to use it on Windows.

HI Patrick, try reseting the configuration for Steam Rom Manager, we still don't know why, but sometimes that fails the first time. After that you should be able to parse your games. If you can't even open Steam Rom Manager, I'll suggest restarting windows, and if you are still having problems, reinstall it from Manage Emulators. Keep in min SteamRomManager takes several seconds to load.

I downloaded everything and tried using the switch emulator R for Pokémon violet, but I keep getting a key error. Anyone know what to do?

Hi and thanks for this amazing utility. On Windows 11, not sure if this has been mentioned as one of the issues, but Dolphin seems to launch in a state that doesn’t allow for entering and exiting full screen, and in general hot keys/shortcuts don’t seem to work when running through emulationstation. Can’t save states etc either. Not sure if this is from emudeck settings or if some version of dolphin it uses is wrong. Stand-alone everything works fine. Through the launcher, I can’t use these shortcuts or even exit the emulator easily. You are seriously providing some awesome work. Thank you.

Thank you. Just wanted to report that duckstation via emulation station finds the right path again to boot into ps1 games, emulation station does not continue to play metadata preview video audio when starting a game, Yuzu is still giving me that controller configuration bug when launching via emulation station(Yes Running latest Yuzu version, controller configured in Yuzu settings, but controller input only seems to work when launching game straight from Yuzu app). I appreciate the rollback for now!

the problem is using yuzu latest, you need to reinstall from Manage Emulators and use 1476. We've opened an issue with the Yuzu Team, see if they can fix it.

ROG Ally.. launching through emulationstation it seems to break all hotkeys/shortcuts. If I open dolphin stand-alone I don’t have this issue. Very strange and specific to dolphin. It also won’t auto recall the savestate like the other emulators do (after closing with start+select), not sure if this is a limitation with dolphin or if it should work.. I was wondering if it’s maybe because I had another version of dolphin installed before getting emudeck installed, but I’m confident emudeck auto installed it’s own or overwrote that version anyway, no?

EmuDeck install its own separate emulators just in case you already have yours so we don't mess with your previous configs. If you are using an Ally, make sure you are following this: https://github.com/EmuDeck/emudeck-we/wiki/Common-Issues#i-have-a-rog-ally-my-controls-dont-work

Yeah I figured it just wrote its own emulators cause my standalone version is working just fine with my own settings. Every other emulator is working perfectly fine through steam and emulationstation, except for dolphin. Citra, mupen64, everything is fine and the controls are bound perfectly. Just can’t enter/exit full screen using keyboard shortcuts to modify settings on the go on dolphin.. More importantly though— it’s the save states I can’t access this way and that’s the biggest problem but otherwise I can just open outside of emudeck/emulationstation… just breaks the immersion/simplicity is all. Not even real problems in the scope of life haha. Thanks for the replies.

I wanted to mention that I very much appreciate the faster cloud save integration, but unfortunately it has triggered a different annoying issue. I'm assuming it's not just me, but I have video thumbnails from screenscraper in Emulation Station. Normally those videos automatically pause when you launch a game, which they still do, but now when that additional dialog box pops up for the cloud sync it's basically like an alt tab out of the game so the video (and it's audio) start playing again. This causing the audio from the video to overlap with your emulation audio, which as you can imagine is very annoying. To get around this for now I've had to disable audio in thumbnail videos. Perhaps there is a way to stop that dialog box from coming to the front when launched or something? Thanks as always for your great work!

I'm perpetually stuck at checking for updates since the update a few days ago, I've tried restarting 20-30 times, uninstalling and reinstalling emudeck both to no luck. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

I updated my emudeck, and now Steam Rom Manager forgot all my settings for each game, like the cover art and whatnot. Do I have to go and set all of them up all over again? It took me like 4 hours to do :(

Does anyone know why Yuzu wont update past version 1476? I have tried the update option through emudeck for windows multiple times but it does not seem to update past this. The current version of Yuzu for windows is 1487 according to their github.

There’s a bug with controls and Steam on versions after 1476, so until the Yuzu team fixes them we are forcing 1476

We found that precise bug and we reverted back to the old way. Reset ESDE + SRM configs to fix it

Good it's working now but I had to manually type in the token. Copy to clip board and paste doesn't seem to work for me. What key do you push to paste the token?

Hey y'all - hopefully I'm putting this in the correct place. Thanks for all you're doing! Got EmuDeck up and running on my Rog Ally. Couple questions. 1) I have it hooked up to a dock with a portable monitor, keyboard and xbox controller. How can I get EmuDeck and these emulators to recognize the controller, or how can I easily switch between the two controllers? 2) How can I gracefully exit these emulators and get back into the steam interface? I've been long pressing the quick control button to get to the task manager, and I know there has to be a better way. THANKS AGAIN

Hi, as long as you are using Steam all your controllers should work out of the box. SELECT+START closes any emulator :)

Thank you. What about changing settings inside of each emulator? Like, in PCSX2 if I wanted to mess with controller mapping or save/load state, resolution, back end etc? Thanks for your help!

I set them all in Steam Rom Manager. Closed and reopened SRM multiple times over a week or so, making tweaks and such. It always remembered all my art. New update came out, updated, opened SRM, parsed, and all my art was back to the original art when I very first installed it. Don't know if the update made it forget or what.

I can't seem to get MelonDS to launch (Windows 11 through Steam), I keep getting the error: melonDS: Unknown option '@'. I have reset and reinstalled MelonDS, and standalone it seems to work fine, just not when launching games from Steam. Any ideas?

hello, just joined this patreon, trying to install Emudeck on the Asus Rog ally but when I get to the "SELECT YOUR ROM DIRECTORY" step and I select my internal ssd shown as "Custom Directory" drive it just keeps telling me it is a "Non Writable directory selected, please choose another" Any help is appreciated

Hey team, i just set up a retro achievements profile however when i click the login button in emudeck, nothing happens

No special characters, just letters and numbers. It just seems like the login button doesn't recognise being pressed. Other then this issue the app is an absolute dream and everything i ever wanted on my pc so thank you so much

Cant update Emudeck to newest version , seems to start downloading then goes to main screen , when I launch Emustation it still says there is an update available , any help appreciated

We haven’t launched a new version in a while so you probably have the latest. Emudeck on start just checks if there’s an update, if you don’t get one then you are on the last version :)

How do you exit cemu and rpcs3 on rog ally? Running through emulation station.

I am also having problems, in Emulation-Station only SNES games will launch, no other systems will launch (NES, N64, DS,etc) but all games are correctly listed in their appropritate categories. I have tried doing what you posted but when I go to "Manage your Emulators" there is no option for "Update all configurations". Am I missing how to do this correctly?
