One week, four videos.
- Kill me.

Once in a while the stars align and instead of shooting one video, or even two, I end up filming a whole month’s worth of content and nearly breaking myself along the way.

But amidst the sea of upcoming videos, I’ve also got some exciting news (good news!). Here’s what I’ve been up to.

The Shooting Schedule from Hell

So this week I’ve been everywhere from the mountains of Akita and Aomori, to Tokyo’s Nakagin Capsule Tower and even the Trash Taste studio.

It sounds glamorous and adventurous, but it was so intense I’ve barely looked up from the camera viewfinder these last 7 days. Here’s what I’ve been working on in order!

Asakusa

Given Asakusa, Tokyo is one of the first locations most Youtubers in Japan are drawn to, on account of it being perhaps the no.1 tourism hotspot in the country, it’s crazy to think we’ve never shot an Abroad in Japan video there until now.

But rather than do another bland tourism video, Ryotaro and I teamed up to do a retro style tour of the districts more hidden establishments. From a murky underground complex straight out of Blade Runner, to a ryokan overlooking the Sensoji temple, it was surprisingly fun to head back to the area that defined my early visits to Tokyo, when I came down on weekends (because cheap accommodation, yay).

Nakagin Tower

Straight off the back of the Asakusa video, I fled Ryotaro to the other side of Tokyo where I met up with Alex (the real estate guy from last year’s videos), and we went on a tour of my favourite building in Tokyo, the Nakagin Capsule tower.

The building is comprised of 140 capsule - each containing a tiny apartment of only 9 square meters. And while I couldn’t imagine living here, it’s easy to see how the location has captured the hearts of architects and filmmakers over the years.

Tragically, this 1970’s architectural gem doesn’t have the brightest future and is set for demolition next year. Amongst the bland towers of Tokyo’s skyline, it will be sorely missed and I’m grateful that we were able to get inside and hear the story behind the building, before it’s replaced by another generic utilitarian building.

Trash Taste

So while technically there’s been no videos on Abroad in Japan this week, I did appear in a two hour long show with Joey, Connor and Garnt on Trash Taste, where I was bullied for my fashion and where I recounted the 100 ways I’ve almost died in Japan over the years.

It was hilarious, chaotic fun and hopefully it’ll keep you entertained until the Journey Across Japan finale in Nagasaki later this week.
🍿Trash Taste: https://youtu.be/jFIKDHetyFw

Akita

Just as I escaped Tokyo back to the relaxing atmosphere of Tohoku and north Japan, Ryotaro and I met up once more and went on a two day trip around Akita prefecture.

Over the years we’ve covered every corner of north Japan in our videos, but somehow we’ve always neglected Akita. There’s no doubt it’s an odd prefecture, huge in scale, with the population scattered across numerous mountain ranges (making it very difficult to travel around).

But it’s a beautiful region and we covered the hot springs, the local free range chicken, the terrifying Namahage demons and of course, the Akita dogs. We’re looking forward to taking you guys on a tour of this stunning part of Japan!

Patreon Exclusive Episodes

On a quick note, one of the highlights of this season of Journey Across Japan has been the behind the scenes episodes, sharing with guys various outtakes, bloopers and deleted scenes, as well commentary revealing what really went on during filming.

One of the hardest parts of this job is deciding what goes in and what gets left out of the videos. But now that we have an editor, we’re delighted to announce that with every release of an Abroad in Japan video we’ll be releasing an additional behind the scenes Patreon exclusive episode.

I’m very proud of this community and I love sharing insights with you all, and the response on the last four bending the scenes episodes has been incredibly positive. It makes sense to turn this into a full time series for you all here on the the Abroad in Japan Patreon (and expose how may takes I actually need to shoot before I can string together the simplest of sentences).

The ABROAD IN JAPAN STUDIO

And finally, I’ve saved perhaps the best news until last.
As I mentioned I recently visited the guys at Trash Taste to shoot an episode in their brand new studio. And as I marvelled at their two storey setup and well lit studio with envy, I wondered to myself “Why the f*ck haven’t I done this?”

In many ways over the years, we’ve not needed a studio, given most Abroad in Japan videos are shot in the great outdoors. Shooting in the apartment has always been adequate enough.

But in recent times, shooting the fried chicken video with Connor in the apartment, or the live show with my good friend Pete (Premier Two: https://youtu.be/T0o2-zMEg0Y?t=6677 ), it was absolute hell trying to shoot with two people in my tiny cramped set up.

In many ways, this cramped setup has held me back a bit from shooting indoors more, or doing collaborations with other creators or live streams.

And so after returning from Tokyo I began searching for studio space, and I think I’ve found the perfect place in Sendai where we could have a huge studio space for filming videos and building sets (for short films).

I’m bloody excited about having a large professional space to film in, invite people over, and produce more videos and live streams. It’s a very big deal for me, and if all goes well we could have the keys in the next 2 weeks.

And the moment I do, you can guarantee there’ll be an obligatory video on setting up the studio and kitting it out with the finest Ikea furnishings.

Hell, I’m sure we can throw in some cardboard cut outs of Natsuki and Ryotaro as well.

SO lots of amazing news and videos inbound guys. And I want to thank you all for believing in what we do here on Abroad in Japan. The dream of having weekly content is finally almost here.

The final episode of Journey Across Japan will be out later this week (most likely the weekend) and it’s a fitting end to the series, complete with Nagasaki, Battleship Island and of course Dr Jelly. As you’ll see, Nagasaki is an incredibly underrated city and one I highly recommend visiting when Japan re-opens.

That’s all for now though guys - SEND me your ideas for what we could do with the studio space. It’s just one pretty large room and I plan to segregate it into different areas for filming different kinds of videos. We could even have Natsuki corner. (God knows what that would entail).

As soon as I’ve signed the papers and actually got it, you can expect to be the first to see the photos! (Fingers crossed for the end of this week).

Thank you again to you all for making all of this possible. I'm looking forward to surprising you all and taking you on more incredible journeys together in the second half of 2021!

Anonymous

That’s awesome Chris! Congrats with the studio! Is Natsuki getting his own office?

Sheikah

yeaaaa boy so excited

Anonymous

Idea: do anime reviews. Take the bread from theanimeman.

Anonymous

That is beyond exciting. The new studio sounds awesome. It would be great if you have room to have a great set like the Trash Talk guys do, and even better if you can squeeze a nice greenscreen area in there too for some funky SFX.

Anonymous

Obligatory Australian FUCK YEAH!! This sounds so awesome and I along with everyone else in this Patreon couldn’t be more happy and proud to support you to get all of this work done. Also.. don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll get the best drip award this year 😂

Anonymous

I’d give anything for a co-host beer pong tournament once that office is setup. Natsuki, Ryotaro, Joey, Connor, Sharla,

Anonymous

That's so awesome!! Can't wait to see the new videos and studio. No ideas on video content, but rest assured I'll think of something just as I'm drifting off to sleep, like all the best ideas.

Anonymous

The weekly content we finally get!!!!

AndyJapandy

That new studio sounds amazing!

abroadinjapan

Definitely and there's a balcony just for smoking. In all seriousness, he'll be delighted by that.

April Gutierrez

I'm so envious you were able to get into the Nakagin Capsule tower. I'm have to content myself with some exterior shots before it's gone.

Anonymous

Congrats on all your success, Chris! Looking forward to all your new projects.

Anonymous

Hope you have a studio tour in the pipeline… yeah damn basic but can’t wait to see the fruit of your labour

Anonymous

Awesome news, very excited about the future videos to come! And congrats for the studio!

Anonymous

Congrats, Chris!! Can't wait to see your new studio.

Anonymous

Excited about all the great news! A question though, can you maintain quality and your artistic flair in video editing if you go for a weekly release schedule with someone else editing your videos?

Alicia

Ahhh a studio space is so exciting! Fingers crossed everything pans out and you'll have the keys in hand soon. Can't wait to see the conclusion of Journey Across Japan, it's been such a delight to watch.

Anonymous

Really exciting news Chris. Looking forward to seeing the studio once its kitted out in all its glory.

Anonymous

Great news, can't wait to see all of this! Oh, and "bending the scenes episodes" sounds like a Natsuki-ism, is his english rubbing off on you? :)

Anonymous

This is great news Chris! Congratulations!! I'm glad to see everyone is getting great spaces for creativity recently (Trash taste, Jazza, now you). I think that once you have got your space set up it might be a good idea to see if you can organise a 360 tour that people can view in their VR headsets etc. That's be pretty freaking sweet! I remember seeing that CD Projekt Red did that and it was really cool to look around it.

Anonymous

Congrats Chris!

Anonymous

Exciting new videos to look forward to, it is always worth the wait! Congrats on the new studio as well, the Abroad in Japan Empire is growing fast!! The possibilities are endless, from a retro videogames corner to a kitchen space where you could finally learn how to cook.😂

Anonymous

Can't wait for the Nakagin video! It is an architectural design marvel and I'll be devastated to see it being demolished, just like my hopes and dreams.

Anonymous

I spent a day in Nagasaki back in January 1990, it was a foggy/dreary day but I still appreciated the ambience of the city. It's to my shame that I haven't been again to spend more time in the area since then.

Anonymous

Congratulations on the new studio! Please have a green screen setup for 'Dave from Seattle'

Anonymous

Oh - and the peace park is one of the most moving places on earth.

Anonymous

You definitely need a space for hanging all your gold and platinum records.

Peter Varga

awesome!! best of luck to you Chris and friends!

I can just see that you having lots of fun when making the content for us and I think that's the best thing(and what makes it so damn fun to watch!). Can't wait for all the new fun stuff!

Anonymous

Congratulations!!! I just went to IKEA in Tampa, Florida for the first time in my life with my sister last week. I recorded the entire trek... we never even made through the first floor. The vastness and options are astounding. They even had a self assembly chocolate moose!! Enjoy. -KT

Anonymous

Congrats to the studio! Just put in what you need right now. It will be crammed soon enough as the video ideas evolve

Anonymous

This is super exciting news, and congrats on the new studio! No matter how long the new videos take, it's always worth the wait and then some.

2Phan

Holy shit, that's amazing news! Will this double as a podcasting studio as well?

Anonymous

Such great news! 🎉 Good luck on the studio! Your success is all so well deserved. Honestly the best videos on YouTube

Susan Ray

Great news! Can't wait to see all the videos. And your new studio. Just upped my Patreon because I don't want to miss anything.

Satomi Arihara

Congrats to the new studio!! Why don't you use it to make a new music video that'll go beyond "too much volcano"? 😁

Anonymous

A studio to finally display all the engrish paraphernalia!!

Anonymous

I’m dead chuffed, Chris, the future is looking bright for the channel. Also, since you mentioned cardboard cut outs, how is Ken?

Anonymous

おめでとう🎉 Can't wait to see the studio!

Anonymous

Congratulations, Chris!! New studio, new editor, and lots of things coming up - everything looks exciting! Can't wait to see that space and all those indoors videos you'll shoot

Anonymous

An own studio space. Congratulations, count me impressed. So for when do you plan the release of Blade Runner 3?

Tim Szczesuil

I think what a lot of people outside Japan are wondering is about the impact of the Olympics on people in Tokyo. Maybe you can have a conversation with a couple of Tokyoites in your new studio?

Anonymous

Any chance of getting a bts of the love hotel video with cdawg, that would be cool!

Anonymous

"Ryotaro and I teamed up to do a retro style tour of the districts more hidden establishments..." So you went to Rockza on purpose and won't claim, "it was an accident", and you actually had planned on going to to Engei Hall. 😏

Anonymous

Congrats on the studio space! Be sure to leave some wall space to hang your framed gold single in a few months

Anonymous

So excited! Really looking forward to the Akita video as I’m supposed to be visiting in October x

Anonymous

Congrats on the studio space! How about you dig out that nerf gun from JaJ2 and you and Ryotaro have an epic run-and-gun battle to finally settle who's going to assassinate who? :)

Anonymous

That's great news, congrats. I'm excited by the prospect of short films.

Anonymous

Very cool news! Congratulations!

Anonymous

Cup Noodle vending machine? Great news on the studio though, seriously - a brilliant next step in your filmmaking career.

Anonymous

You're the best!

Anonymous

Thanks such a great news, Chris. As for studio, plastic fried chicken in the background (as a decoration) is a must!

Megumeme

Awesome news!

Issa Hudgins

Ooh! That's so exciting!! A truth or drink with a guest would be a fun video. Just having a monthly live stream q&a sounds fun too, lol. I can't think of any other video ideas tho.

Anonymous

That's great news! Congrats Chris :D

Anonymous

You definitely need to name that study. Something iconic, like Abbey Road Studios or Capitol Studios. Congrats Dr Abroad!

Anonymous

Great news!!

Anonymous

Wonderful news, Chris! Very happy for you! What are you calling it? “Abroad In Japan HQ”. You need you a James Bond type of name. I do have a couple suggestions about the studio. You can always separate the areas with partitions and decorate it based on your guests and their likes. For Natsuki, you can set up a music area with guitars, karaoke macine, maybe tambourine or maracas, etc. For Pete, you can do a retro gaming area. Go to Nakano Broadway buy some cool art works, and gaming related items. And so on!

Anonymous

Oh Chris, how about printing your photographs in banners or canvasses and decorating the walls with it. Natsuki will love a poster on the movie in his new office.

Anonymous

Sounds great Chris, congratulations! You should have an 'Abroad through Time' wall or area, where you keep some of the best props and photos you have acquired over the years! It would make a cool backdrop for live streams or guest appearances.

Anonymous

Congrats! This is awesome! The first thing I thought of for the studio was movie posters, but all AiJ theme! Make yourself some epic AiJ movie posters to document favorite film moments! I'll also second the vending machine idea and the fried chicken monument! Excellent ideas!

Anonymous

Thats great to hear Chris, your film making has just been getting better and better. By far some of the best content on YouTube. Really looking forward to what we will be seeing going forward. I hope the new place will help your creativity reach new level but don't forget to have a camera in the background so everyone will know you are a YouTuber.

Anonymous

Congratulations on the new space! I'm excited about the new behind the scenes episodes and what you're planning for the studio. Thanks for the updates! Hope you can get some rest after this week.

WT

I can’t wait to see the new studio, that’s awesome! Congrats on the upgrades. You deserve to have the best. Ideas 💡 I’d love to see a (2nd channel) basic cinematography and audio/music series where you go over your own thoughts and ideas. Maybe take your older vids and give us bts walk thrus since you did them all yourself with amazing results. I was a teen during almost the entire 80s so I 💕love your taste in retro music and things. I’d love to see you explore more of that. Honestly I’d love to hear you do a review of your playlist but idk how you’d do it w dmca and all the © issues. I always enjoy watching/listening to you laughing and talking with your friends. If you could take us out (or in to the new studio) once in a while for drinks and merriment that would be great. Like the Connor vids but no real context necessarily. Not really collabs, even though you have many creator friends so in those cases it would essentially be that, but just having a drink, talking food or daily life and then playing a game or karaoke idk. Or just put Natsuki in the shot and just go with randomness. Twitch stream or produce it whichever. I would enjoy that.

Blue Catwolf

Hmm, 'Toho Creative Studios', a subsidiary of 'Tokyo Creative'? ;-)

Anonymous

I actually got lost in an IKEA once. My husband disappeared in a wave of shoppers that surged over us in an intersection. There was no cellphone reception inside the store and I couldn't find an exit from the building. I went around in circles and discovered all the random side areas, much to my dismay. Even the elevator didn't go to the parking garage. I couldn't find a store employee, even at the daycare center (no children ether, despite the massive crowd). I'm not sure how I found my way out of the mobius strip - I was so exhausted by then. My husband was waiting for me at the car. As soon as we drove free of the parking garage, all our texts and voice mail notifications started going off. We haven't been to an IKEA since. 😅

Anonymous

Congratulations on the studio Chris! looking forward to more indoor contents with the Trash taste boys (possible podcast idea ?)

Amazing, I can't wait to see what you'll do with the studio! I hope you'll have a Showa era corner.

Congratulations on the studio, can't wait the see what ideas you have in store now that you have more space!

Anonymous

Congrats Chris!! Well deserved!

Anonymous

Congrats Chris, really pleased to hear there will be a Patreon only series. I once criticized you on here for not providing more Patreon only content. I even unsubscribed, but darn it, within a month I was back. Looking forward to future content. Best wishes from Whitstable

Anonymous

Congrats on the AiJ Studio, Chris! I can't wait to see what it looks like! A Ryotaro, Natsuki and Pete cut-out would be awesome and it'd be cool if you personalize it with your own favourite Japanese aesthetic (Showa era style? Osaka theme?) As for the upcoming videos, I'm hyped that we're getting double the Ryotaro. They're always my favourite, so thank you for that! Appreciate you making the Behind the Scenes extras regular content now since they're insightful and entertaining. Random fact: You can find Namahage as enemies in the Nioh game series. :)

Anonymous

Abroad in Studio! I can't wait to see it. This is exiting!

Anonymous

A studio? Rumor has it that it is just what Ken Watanabe has been waiting for....

Arthur

Amazing news, Chris! Can't wait to see what your big brained head and fully dripped body able to produce!

Matthew Davison

This is all great news Chris. As for the studio, the first idea that popped in my mind is having the anpanman from JAJ on the wall, and occasionally you'll do an impromptu video where you try to complete a challenge. Just an idea. Either way so glad to be part of this community, on ya Chris!!

Anonymous

So very excited. Great news!!! I Will be looking forward to all the wonderful videos you will be making!!!!

Queen_Wolfie

This is awesome! I'm glad that you are getting what you deserve as you are awesome at what you do which makes me come back for more videos! Congrats (fingers are crossed btw)

Anonymous

That is great news Chris! Wish you lots of luck! - I am so glad that you were able to do some videos with Ryotaro, I found those so funny. Maybe for next summer's "Abroad in Japan/Journey Across Japan", if you continue with the tradition, this will enable you to invite Pete D, Sharla, Ryotaro, Ellen, etc. back...you could even end it with a karaoke adventure hosting all of them together....okay, so maybe a stretch...

Anonymous

Anyway, best of luck!

Anonymous

A studio? Wow, that IS big news. grats!

Anonymous

Great news. You deserve all the best. For your new studio, why don’t put in the wall the drawings of you, Natauki and Ryotaru that you use in your Instagram stories.

Anonymous

Congratulations Chris! You’ve worked so hard to get where you are! I hope things continue to go well with this new studio and that you get to completely see all the Japanese prefectures.

Anonymous

Congrats Chris, hope you're getting a bit of rest in there somewhere. Glad to hear you're doing a video on Akita. It was a short stopover on my last trip- the city was lovely and the chicken was exceptional. Looking forward to seeing all the new content :)

Anonymous

You definitely need to hang Hate Mail of the Week somewhere in the studio 😂 Here's to more quaity content to come!

Anonymous

Maybe a one person and a multi person setup, both with multiple angles and enough sound proofing to do a podcast, and two or so work stations would be nice. What's doable totally depends on the size of the space though.

abroadinjapan

To be fair the exterior was far more impressive than the interior. Hopefully the video will make you feel like you've been inside it though. We covered it in a lot of detail!

abroadinjapan

Thinking of doing an episode dedicated to kitting it out, so don't worry it'll happen!

abroadinjapan

Absolutely - my editor has already edited a few videos and no-one has noticed the difference. The key is that he edits 80% and I come in and finish the video with the voiceover, music choices and polish up the transitions and scenes. No-one scrutinises the videos on Abroad in Japan more than I do, haha

abroadinjapan

Haha, to be fair he does bend the scenes when he's in them. You never know where things are gonna end up!

abroadinjapan

We've got the 360 camera ready to go! Will definitely think about it, even if it's just a Patreon exclusive.

LordLiquidBaconII

Congrats on the new studio you'll soon be getting!

abroadinjapan

Thanks Susan! Looking forward to taking you and everyone on here on a tour of the new studio once we've got the keys.

Astor Reinhardt

Congrats on the studio. I hope everything goes smoothly and look forward to seeing more videos of making people like Conner suffer. Heh.

Anonymous

Congrats Chris! Can't wait for the videos and new studio!

abroadinjapan

The sad truth is nobody in Japan supports the Olympics at this point. It's a real shame given how excited everyone was up until last year.

abroadinjapan

As that was technically his footage he has all the footage - however, we've got some more wild love hotels lined up for next month!

abroadinjapan

Haha, I forgot about that Nerf gun! I wonder where it ended up...I think Ian pinched it :D

abroadinjapan

The Abroad Lair! Actually that sounds a bit dodgy, haha. I think some posters and cardboard cut outs of Natsuki and Ryotaro are a must to go along with the Ken Watanabe one we have.

abroadinjapan

Essentially a collection of dodgy hats and items with amusing Japanese-English marketing on, haha

abroadinjapan

Haha, you can guarantee plenty of cameras in the background Wayne don't you worry 😂

abroadinjapan

I'd love to do a video on cinematography and the creative process behind Abroad in Japan. Once the studio is setup that'd make a great video for the second channel or Patreon exclsuive!

Matthew (Zei)

You could film pornos there too. I’ve seen Japanese pay TV. I know what they’re into.

Matthew (Zei)

That’s funny. I’ve signed up to the Patreon for a couple months and this is actually the first post I looked at. If it’s just this kind of newsletter, it seems like a good deal to me.

Anonymous

That's a ton of great news! I'm really looking forward to more behind the scenes content. The usual videos are great with their crafted storylines and cinematography, but I also miss the more mundane side of your work. Also glad to hear you're visiting Akita, it's my favorite part of Japan. I was pretty sad back when you did your Touhoku series of videos and somehow completely skipped over it!

Eyyy J

Careful Chris, if you don’t mind the studio Ryotaro will hang a wall sized banner of his own face behind your back lol

Anonymous

Amazing update. Nice load of content for me to look forward to, you should have a retro section set up blade runner style with a decent arcade cabinet for the new studio.

WT

Omg I just remembered the massage chair comment from 1st JaJ. Did you ever get yourself one? New studios first piece of furniture. Let’s Go!

Nynke de Haas

Wow, so many things! exciting! I think Natsuki corner should have a hammock :).

Anonymous

Really happy to hear about the new studio; it's glorious news to know that the Abroad in Japan channel is continuing to grow, and you deserve all of the success you've garnered.

Anonymous

Wow, that was a busy week :O Wish mine would have been even half as much fun as this sounds like. And in matters of the Studio, it NEEDs an Bladerunner / Cyberpunk corner!! and maybe you'll even make a Cyberpunk Natsuki saga short?! ;D

Anonymous

I have another suggestion. Lol This could be part of the retro gaming area. The classic arcade machine, Flip the Table made by Taito? https://m.coinopexpress.com/products/product.html?id=10622

Anonymous

This is the first I've heard about the Nakagin Capsule tower being demolished - it's always been too expensive to renovate but I hoped it would stay in place long enough for me to get to Japan and see it. So unfortunate, but its unique look from such a brief phase in Japan's architectural history (and in my architecture dissertation) should keep it immortalised in memory at least.

Anonymous

Great to here about all upcoming content, can't get enough :)

Anonymous

Congratulations on the new Studio, Chris!!! Can't wait for behind-the-scenes videos. Looking forward for upcoming videos 👍🏼

harupi

Congrats first of all on the potential new studio, can't wait to see it! Also, I am super excited to watch all the upcoming content. The Trash Taste podcast was great, the 4 of you have some great conversations! Lastly, I think the studio having a Natsuki corner sounds great! Imagine letting him decorate it :D Cheers, don't overwork yourself and stay safe!

Anonymous

Congratulations Chris, that's so exciting!

Jette Nielsen

I'm SO excited for more patreon exclusive behind the scenes and outtakes stuff! I don't comment often but I thoroughly enjoy every post and video you put up here on patreon and I can't wait to see the new studio and all the cool stuff you can do with it!

Michelle Thong

So much exciting news, I'm so happy to hear all of it!!! Looking forward to all the new things you have to show us. :D

Jolie

Congrats on the studio! It’s always such a treat to read about your upcoming videos and behind the scenes stories. I know you are a film maker, but maybe, just maybe one day your film making adventures could be a great future book like “Kitchen Confidential” by the late great Anthony Bourdain. Keep doing what you do…it’s worth it. P.S. Definitely add a bar fridge in your new studio. Or maybe a fancy cooler of sorts like Alan Carr did on Chatty Man.

Suggestion for what to do with the new studio space: filming the new James Bond movie: The Blunch is not enough

abroadinjapan

Hahah, I love how "blunch" is still remembered all these years after Ryotaro's blundering

abroadinjapan

Thanks Jette! I enjoy the BTS videos as I get to share the nightmares that often go on during filming.

Anonymous

Congratulations! I have always been skeptical of "editors" because.. few of the channels I have been subscribed.. lost their "character" / feeling completely, forcing me to un-sub. But considering content.. one of the things I have loved the most about for example Jackie Chan movies.. were "bloopers" and "mistakes"... if editor is what it takes for me to enjoy watching your "failed scenes" then out with him already :-)

Anonymous

I've always wondered, how it would be like. to do Task Master type show, with you as the host, and trash taste group + natsuki as the contestants

Rob

Please tell me your studio setup is larger, or in some way superior to the new Trash Taste studio. In the YouTube Wars, the arms race is one of prestige locations. You're a Winner™! You cannot afford a Studio Gap!

Anonymous

Chris, I just started supporting your channel two days ago. I started watching your videos on youtube about 1 month ago. I am so happy for you that you are finally getting a studio and your film making dream is starting to solidify.

Anonymous

I also wanted to let you know that your work is making a difference in my life beyond the obvious entertainment value. I am going through a really really rough time in my life and your brand of humor in your videos takes me away from my real life problems for just a bit and allows me to forget, recharge and trudge on. Please know that your videos and all the work you do to make them is so very much appreciated and makes a real and huge difference in my life.

Anonymous

Congratulations on the new space!

Anonymous

fucking hell Chris. Now I gotta focus and work on my shit. Your hardwork really does push me so thanks for that

John Leitch

I'm so excited about the new space.. so many possibilities.

Very exciting! :D

Anonymous

Natsuki Corner could be a little recording booth for him to launch his music career!

Anonymous

Congratulations on the new studio space. It's still a bit tricky at the moment (with the covid thing and all), but I like the idea of using it to enact really hammy short skits with people like Joey, Sharla, Natsuki and Pete Donaldson to support the " X things you should know about Y situation in Japan" videos. On a non-studio idea, I've always thought it would be interesting to see you do something with Bellamy Hunt from JapanCameraHunter. His film photography thing might be a bit niche for the channel, but he's another Brit in Japan who's spent the last decade building a company and as such there might be a worthwhile story there along the lines of 'interesting (foreigner) takes on being a creative entrepreneur in Japanese society' that I've heard you mention on occasion in podcasts.

Anonymous

I guess we've all forgotten about a series called Journey Across Japan?

Anonymous

I‘m gone for 3 months and Chris only went ahead and got himself a full-on studio 😃! You‘re doing amazing, sweetie!

Anonymous

Hi, has anyone found the YouTube video link for the finale of Journey Across Japan? Last week on YT, Chris says it'll be uploaded later on that week (a.k.a yesterday at the latest) and here we are... And no videos... Is Chris safe and sound there?

Maybe, the studio announcement has overshadowed JAJ ... Lol

Studio idea - Japanese version of Celebrity Juice

Does anyone know when the next Journey Across Japan is coming out? Is it cancelled? What's up?

Matthew Davison

Its likely that this week of crazy filming, (Chris showed above) pushed it aside. Hopefully it'll be done next week.
