alright did some research katara and southern watertribe people skin aren't pale because the southern watertribe is based on indigenous people of the artic the masters of cold, famously eskimos for example; there are others but eskimos are the most well known. There skin tend to have sort of a tan-ish shade to it. perhaps do to living more so in the elements. even though this question was asked 3 seasons ago .... welp anyway here's the answer

You guys are the first ATLA reactions on YouTube I’ve found that I’ve subscribed to on Patreon! Katara is my favorite character, I have a water nation tattoo even, and this episode of one of my top favorite Katara-episodes. Watching you guys react to this (and other episodes) was so satisfying, you picked up on everything I love about it. Some reactors don’t like this episode and shit on Katara for it, which is their opinion, but it’s not as fun for me to watch. You guys deserve all the hype! Also, what are each of your first names???
